Why People Take Breaks From Facebook

"took a break for religious reasons"

don't get that...

Well, there are religions that require retreats or missionary work ... both of which would provide a break from FB ... OR it is possible the big G-person told a few folks to shut the medamn computer off ... you never know :D

I don't need to take a break as I use it so infrequently that I already fall into the "multi-week break" by the time I get around to looking at it again. I personally find it almost completely useless (one exception is for sharing photos of my kids with my sister, yes there are other ways but this is an easy one).

As for the religious reason I could see people giving it up for Lent.

I like how this is based on 316 people that were cold-called.

How much this data means anything == zero.

seriously. 316 is a small(ish) sample size. especially when FB subscribers number in the millions.

The novelty of seeing what old high school acquaintances are having for breakfast wears off after a while. Not to mention the complete tedium of wading through 100 postings of peoples' kids and pets.

-sunk into deep depression upon the realization that for your entire, every single person you've associated with is a fucking idiot.

Isn't "I ate toast" a twitter thing? I find the annoying part about facebook more to be the 'General complaint about random non-specific facet of life and rude people! + meme about it" with the words "That's so true!" under a generalization. Yes, there is some irony that this is generalization about facebook posts.

That's so true!

I just got tired of reading posts about people not being to decide to either go shopping, or eat some cheese on toast.

I've been on facebook since 2004 and have probably checked it at least once a day since then - not hard when I have it as my browser home page. I really started to think negatively of facebook when they allowed everyone to join; when it stopped being just for college students. I have never taken a break from it but have been thinking about not using it for just about every reason on that list.

I got sick of it for the spam. Not just ads and shit but friends that had to share every single picture they saw that day. I liked it when it was my friends posting about them and what they were up to but it's not worth it anymore to scroll through hundreds of cute pictures and funny caption that have been shared a billion times.

for the longest time I was using facebook as a repository for my fucked up video's and idea's.....But then facebook started either archiving or deleted old post and I lost a ton of hilarious shit...So I use it less now mostly just to post offensive shit.

When I was still in college a lot of people would give facebook up for lent. Those people would always ask what I was giving up for lent and i'm all like silly catholic, I am protestant I don't partake in lent :p
