The Consumer Electronics Association, the people that put on CES every year, sent out a press release yesterday stating that C|Net is no longer producing the "Best of CES" awards. The group also named DISH’s Hopper with Sling as “Best of Show.”

“CES has enjoyed a long and productive partnership with CNET and the Best of CES awards,” stated Chupka. “However, we are concerned the new review policy will have a negative impact on our brand should we continue the awards relationship as currently constructed. We look forward to receiving new ideas to recognize the ‘best of the best’ products introduced at the International CES.

See.. and CBS -- the parent company of CNET --- is nowhere to be found.... this is entirely their fault.... and now they can eat the turd they laid!

I wonder how Cnet is going to spin this one.

I must not have seen any really good coverage on the Hopper or the Razor. Are those two items really the best things that came out of CES this year? I did not have much time to follow the product announcements this year. At a glance I just did not see a lot that interested me with either product.

Seems like Cnet has been slacking and been really biased recently. Maybe just me though.

Well its not like CNET's credibility could get any worse. Frankly this is a good move , I wouldn't want CBS deciding the Best of CES anyway's.

Now can we stop pretending like CNET reviews are worth while? Not one editor spoke out against CBS doing what they did and frankly that's kind of sickening. I realize job security and what not but no one has said anything there. They've just gone on with the flow. Talk about integrity

absolutely should be done. I would go so far as not issuing press passes to them after that. way to shoot yourself in the foot.

don't get me wrong, I understand their position but that was absolutely the worst way to deal with it.

I thought the one guy DID and QUIT......

Of all the stuff there, a fucking DVR won? Was it that fucking horrible of a show this year?
