Strange Quote of the Day

Not strange at all. They're bringing back Arrested Development as a result of popular demand, and may do the same with Jericho(pleasepleasepleasepleasePLEASE!!!). His quote is indicating that they want to produce their own original programming with the same caliber that HBO produced shows like The Sopranos and Deadwood.

And frankly, they may just pull it off.

WHAT?! NETFLIX IS BRINGING BACK ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT?!?!

God does exist...

For years I've been wishing HBO would provide a service like HBOgo but without having to subscribe to a cable network. Hopefully this nudges them closer to making this a reality. Nothing wrong with a little competition IMO...

When is the Netflix BOD going to realize Reed was lucky to come up with the original business model, but is now in way over his head?

Quikster

'nuff said

Now: Pay bloated cable bill for 5-10 channels you want to watch out of a 120 channel package
Future: Pay separate bloated subs for each "channel" you want to watch
Always: Yarr

Don't forget HBO is also trying to do Netflix with the HBO Go service and the on demand services.

However, since HBO requires a cable provider, they're voluntarily limiting their consumer base to people who also want at least basic cable. Netflix doesn't have such limitations. They still need more content, though.

I don't do either and life is pretty great. As soon as someone figures out how to offer what I'm doing in a way that makes them money, they are going to be rich.

This comment is about Netflix going into Original Content is my best rumor offering

And that is where HBO will fail if they don't shed their cable provider requirement. I'm knowing less and less people my age who are willing to shell out 50+ bucks a month for content, most of which sucks, and the rest is usually easy to either find on something like Netflix at a lower cost, or download illegally for free.

It really depends on your area. I live in a neighborhood where Comcast and Verizon are competing head to head for my business and I reap the rewards of an affordable bill.

The guy is known for saying strange (and stupid) stuff. More power to them. I still love Netflix.

And I will call you Gods if you bring back Firefly (not HBO I know),

+5,000,000

+1,000,000 for Arrested Development (Godzilla Japanese episode was my all time favorite, followed by Blue Man Group gaffes)

There's always a lot of quirky fun shows that just don't make the cut. Like Pushing Daisies, Reaper, and tons more.

Imagine what Falicia Day could do if she found a regular sponser for "The Guild." She's quite creative for a shoe string budget.

Doll House had real potential too in a post apoclytpic future were the citizens were all mass reprogrammed to be zombies of a select few.

Jericho? cool beans!

I third this suggestion and move it be passed!

I un-ignored you a couple days ago because you post too much that threads can go a different direction and I can't always tell why :-P

Anyways, it's a good thing I did before seeing this post. I fucking loved Arrested Development and I can't wait til Ron Howard brings it back. Netflix exclusively doesn't bother me since I'm a long-time Netflix user.

As for Jericho, I'm mad at the network for canceling RIGHT when the guys discovered a divided America. Who does that? Who leaves us in the lurch like that?! We need to know what happened next!

It won't be the same without Walsh. Whedon's a dick for killing him in Serenity :-P

Nathan Fillion tried to get the right to reboot Firefly, but Whedon shot him down.

Personally, I'm convinced that it's off the air because certain people don't want anyone to have even a fictional model for sovereign resistance in the United States.

You know, though, that there's been a comic book series that continued the story? And there's a fourth series coming out this year, I believe. I'm not sure if Netflix brought it back that they'd copy the comic book, but either way, I wouldn't care. One of the best shows on network television, and nuts to anyone who says otherwise.

I wish they would more wisely use their resources for something other than resurrecting a "comedy" that should stay dead.

They could do plenty of story between the series and leave the movie as the finale allowing Walsh to be part of the show.

However, if Whedon already shut it down then it will probably never happen.

At least there are comics...

Terra Nova i was enjoying.
The Event
Stargate Universe
Defying Gravity

There are a number of shows that should be picked up that only had a short run. None of the big networks seem to be letting good sci-fi shows develop. Only to cancel them shortly after they premier or just as the second season starts
