I just wanted to know whats everyone opinion on Diamond as a OEM? What is their support like? A little while ago I decided to upgrade my 5870 earlier since I couldn't wait for the next gen. Anyways I started looking at 7970s and was about to buy the best, but then I thought to myself why not buy a cheap one and sell it when next gen comes out and get the new one thereby lowering my overall costs since I was most likely to buy the next gen since I was going to do an overhaul anyways. So I found a Diamond HD 7970 non GHZ edition on craigslist for $250 and I just wanted to know if its ok to buy. Also what can I do with my 5870? I dont think there is any advantage in keeping in my system such as Physx or some weird crossfire.

A 7970 for $250 has been beat to hell by BTC minting, be sure of it.

If I were you, I'd steer clear.

its not brand new as far as I know. Not sure what its been used for. I forgot about BTC.

I have used a Diamond 7970. It was a very good experience. The card was a monster overclocker hitting 1300/1700 at 1.25 volts. Pretty solid oem card that I had. I will buy a Diamond again since it is a no frills AMD specifications design.

I am not really looking for the best OEM just looking for an OK one in case I have to RMA it since it is used. Also looking at selling it shortly after for the newest gen. Just really need an upgrade atm since my 5870 is not cutting it.

diamond rma is notoriously finicky. having owned several diamond cards since the hd 2900xt, they won't give you the time of day without a legitimate receipt.

Oh damn. Might have to rethink then.

Also can anyone tell me if I have to remove drivers and reinstall even if I have a 5870 right now? If so which one is the most stable right now?
