Steam 2012 Christmas sale is here! runs from Dec 20- Jan 6

I caved and got FTL as well, haven't tried it yet but it looks awesome.

Just snagged XCOM from GMG as well, been wanting this and 17.50 was too tempting. :D

Too bad the DLC isn't on sale. Oh well, I bought it cheap enough, full price DLC is okay I guess. :D

AssCreed FRANCHISE on sale today.

35%? :( Weak. I agree with some others; I know part of the reason that this sale appears to suck is because I've bought so much during previous sales, but 3 years ago there were deeper discounts. 75% off was common, which is why it was impossible to resist buying so much. This year has mainly shown us a lot of 25%-50% off discounts. Don't get me wrong; half off is still nice, but it's not enough to justify an impulse purchase most of the time.

I'm not sure when the price changed but I bought them for like 75% off just a minute ago:

Assassin's Creed: Director Cut - 4.99
Assassin's Creed 2 Delux: 4.99
Brotherhood - 4.99
Revelations - 10.19

You're not suppose to use your coupon right at midnight January 1st....Amazon will hold a sale sometime during the month of January, and thats when you apply the $5 coupon

Last year, many folks got free games such as GTA 4, Duke Nukem Forever, Witcher 1, Dead Space 1 & 2....sure they aren't the biggest and best titles....but can't complain for free....and I know Shogun 2 went for $2.50 after coupon....9 months after release and $2.50 for a game? Heck yeah!

Yes. last year I bought DX2 off amazon and got a $5 off code which allowed me to get dead space 2 for free.. it was awesome, i still haven't bought a single thing from steam this year.. i'm surprised too, since this is supposed to be the HUGE steam xmas sale.. that's not to say there isn't ANY good deals, it's just that i either have the game already, not interested, and the ones i am interested in, they just aren't cheap enough :)

In that case, I guess I'll get FTL, I've been considering it for a while.

I had 0 interest in it at first....I kept hearing people post/talk about it and checked it out. Still 0 interest. Then I figured I'd see if TotalBiscuit did a "WTF is..." for it and sure enough, he did. (I posted that a page back, if you missed it.)

He sold me on the game 100% and I'm glad he did. ;)

If you haven't seen that vid, watch it. If it doesn't sell you, then you probably won't like it. I really love his WTF vids because they give (IMHO) the best 'opinion' you can get. Reviewers nowadays are typically paid off or just biased and irritating. The only reviewer left worth a salt was Adam Sessler and then G4 got rid of him. But I really like TotalBiscuit and also Yahtzee (though Yahtzee is more polar; he is either love it or hate it, black or white...no gray area with him).

Sure enough, it changed just after I posted.

I/II/Brotherhood are 75% off
Revelations is 66% off
III is 25% off.

Agreed with the TotalBiscuit videos. I usually look for a WTF video if I'm on the fence for a game. And thanks for sharing the FTL video...it sold me. BTW, Adam Sessler is now one of the led editors at Destructiod (online TV).

As far as the sale is concerned, I feel like this has been a down year regarding the number of new games hitting the market. Hence, the Steam sales have been lackluster for some (not me).

Anyone have thoughts on Sins of a Solar Rebellion? I've enjoyed many of Stardock's games in the past and you can never have enough space games :).

Alert guys, the entire Prince of Persia series is on sale for $2.50 each. If you've never played them I highly recommend that you start with Sands of Time. It doesn't support widescreen but after almost 10 years the fun of being an acrobat and fighting hordes of enemies is still intact. The story is also great, especially the relationship between the Prince and Farah.

I can't wait to beat Warrior Within so I can start on Two Thrones and continue the relationship between Farah and Prince. Farah's not in the second game. :(

Well... I got AC: Revelations. I almost have all of the AC games except for III. I haven't even finished the first one lol. The first one was so boring I can't see myself finishing it but I don't wanna play the rest without completing it.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion $13.59

Comments on game play, learning curve, etc.?

Well so far I have only bought
Chivalry
Natural selection 2
Hard Reset
$23 and some change...not bad...
Now, when I will actually get to play the games is a whole different story....damn game whoring

So my wallet can blame you for that one.

Great, High, Time Sink..

if you've got the time and patience then its a great game..

Hmm. What kind of game is it? I watched the trailers, but they really don't tell you what type of game it is.

Thinking about one AC or AC: II. Do they just require a one time verification on Uplay, or something more? Any recommendation on playing the first one or skipping it for the second?

I was waiting for AC:III Digital Deluxe to go on sale so I picked that one up as soon as I saw it. I think i'm done for now....

its a 4X Space Strategy Game..

the short of it is, start at a system.. expand to other systems, research technology, build your fleet, build your systems, conquer the galaxy.

its highly intricate.. its a great multiplayer game too .. just be prepared for 5 hours in one sitting to just get started :)

Agreed; Sands of Time is still a great game and I'm playing them in order as well but I'm having one hell of a time with that last big fight near the end when you're on the elevator. I must have attempted it 30 or 40 times before I got frustrated with the cheapness of it...I wish I could get past that and move on to WW!

The first one got pretty repetitive but I forced myself to finish it and was glad after the fact.

Ass Creed Uno doesn't require Uplay. Ass Creed Dos requires Uplay which is pretty unobtrusive, but the biggest gripe is the DRM that requires an always-on internet connection in order to play the game and will pause the game if the connection is lost. I personally haven't experienced any issues due to the DRM but some people did and have boycotted Ubisoft because of it. I'm definitely not a fan of it but the game is definitely worth playing.

Most people will tell you to skip the first one and go for AC2 which basically improves on pretty much everything, but I liked the first one a lot and there are some references to things that happened in AC1 in the second game but nothing that would leave you completely baffled if you hadn't seen them.

Fuq....just bought all the AC games besides III on Amazon a few days ago.

Oh well, Revelations was $2.50 cheaper and the others were the same, plus 3% cashback at Amazon. Still though, would have preferred them all on steam.

Which Prince of Persia games are worth playing?

I've beat Sands of Time about one week ago and highly recommend it. That's the best game in the series according to MetaCritic. The next two games, WW and TTT, are also good. WW has greater emphasis on combat, with lots of combos and button combinations. I don't know much about TTT.

If you want to be safe then conserve your money and buy Sands of Time now. Then if you enjoy the series you can continue with the next two games. Even though I beat SoT and loved it I haven't bought all the games yet, only WW.

Bit on the Persia pack... Was only gonna get one or two but what the heck, good price for the whole lot, I remember playing Sands on a friend's console I think and really enjoying it.

Wish they'd bump the KOTOR2 or Jedi Knight pack discounts up a notch, tho I'll probably grab them by the end of the sale regardless.

Might grab Dark Souls if it wins the vote, all the buzz around it has me intrigued.

Hey there guys, I've got a question about AC Brotherhood. It says that if you buy the Deluxe Pack that you get some multiplayer characters and you also get two single player levels. I played AC2 and I remember that the levels were basically giant mazes, and at the end you would get some money or something like that. Can anyone please tell me, is it worth it to pay $2.50 for those two levels?

Before you guys say: it's only $2.50, please realize that for $2.50 I can buy an entire game during this sale, and that's what I will do if I don't buy the Deluxe pack.

And thank you, I really appreciate your help.
