Posted this over on another deal forum, figured it might interest someone here.

Think I'll nab a coupla of these for gifts. I got one on Cyber Monday and still have not activated, makes an awesome ipod type device after you install Poweramp or your favorite music player (although Google Music is good enough).

I hear Radio shack comes on strong trying to make you activate it in store. Not sure why they would insist on this a couple days before Xmas gifting. Ad claims valid until 12/29, they won't last long at this price.

[edit] Doesnt come with a micro sd card, and it is a cdma phone so hacking to work on other providers is out unless they use cdma.

I have been wanting to switch to Virgon Mobile so this is tempting. Ultimately though I have a Nexus S now & I think I would be taking a big hit in performance without having to root the one v

It's a good phone... Sense 4 on ICS is nice and lean and not bloated at all. The real gem however is the CAMERA on this thing. HTC did amazing things with their ImageSense chip and the One series phones, and most of those advancements even made it to the lowly One V. It's got one of the best cellphone cameras you'll ever see.

Caveat: The battery on this phone is not removable.. take that for what it is.

great phone for the price. Build quality is great with it's aluminum unibody casing; however, may want to look into getting a case for it so it doesnt scratch up. Decent screen, decent sound, and has rom potential. Currently running the AOKP JB rom on it. No major issues.

I been really liking mine. Battery lasts all day relatively easy. I also rooted and put AOKP 4.1 on mine and it's been running smooth. The screen looks great and the phone itself is really compact, similar to the size profile of a IPhone 4. Got it running at 1.4ghz and it's been a lot snappier running on clean Jellybean vs using HTC sense on ICS.

I'm using a $4 tpu case I got from Amazon and it's been pretty nice. Not sure how much it will protect on drop damage, but the extra grip you get with it on makes it worth it to me. I don't really notice the extra bulk it adds because it's a pretty thin case.

Another thing to mention is that HTC gives you 25GB Dropbox for two years when you buy this phone. Which is pretty nice considering the phone only costs $50 with no contract.

It's getting a tad dated spec wise but the build quality, screen, camera, and audio quality from the headphone jack are all well above the average offerings in that price point. One thing to worry about is that there is no roaming. Even though it uses the Sprint network, just from my experience while driving in middle of no where Kansas, there's a lot of dead spots compared to having a full blown Sprint service that can roam.

Also activating and transferring numbers over is pretty easy on Virgin Mobile's website. Just have your old account information handy and it's a breeze.

The myth of getting this phone and still being able to retain your $25/m plan was nothing more than a myth right?

EDIT: I just did a search. Looks like no.

Before paying $10 more per month I think that I'll wait for a phone that uses 4G and offers a removable battery. 3G is pathetically slow. At least with 4G there may be the possibility of a faster connection.

Actually that isn't true. You can flash the phone to some CDMA providers such as Page Plus (Verizon MVNO) and Cricket are two examples.

I got this last time it was $50, it's an amazingly good phone for the price. Reminds me of a modernized Nexus One (running ICS with Sense 4.0 on top). This uses the same GPU as the HTC Sensation and plays games pretty well. Not a fan of Sprint in my area due to the horrid 3G network they provide(Sprint 3G is comparable to T-Mobiles EDGE, and the WiMaxx 4G is slower than T-Mobiles 3G) For $50 and the cost of a 32GB SD card, you have a nice alternative to the iPod Touch.

Sensation uses a dual core 1.2ghz CPU and Adreno 220 GPU...this phone uses a single core 1ghz CPU and Adreno 205 GPU.

Totally different beasts.

Still a nice deal for a PMP or mini net tablet for $50!

can someone tell me the stock prl for the vm's htc one v? i've been swapping prls lately and don't remember what the stock one was. I'm up to 1.62 Mbps from 600 Kbps :)

This could be a good replacement for an LG Optimus V.

Actually, it's worlds better except if you are already grandfathered on their Beyond Talk $25/month plan (like me). Your monthly goes up $10 with this phone as it nullifies your grandfather status.

There are ways to hack around it, but personally there aren't enough hours in the day for crap like that though.

Can this be used on Boost Mobile fairly easily? I already have a donor phone I can get the ESN from..

....verified your information, and you are correct. I knew that the Sensation was a dual-core, but thought that it used the Adreno 205. Thank you.

Currently on their $45/month plan so this doesn't affect me. Still, good to knows its much better than my current phone. Time for an upgrade!
