Anyone else pick this up.

I am normally a pretty hardcore FPS guy or sometimes wow. But I grew up on a ranch and the sale of steam of FS2k13 made me miss it. So I picked it up and have almost 20 hrs in a week in it so far. who would have known its a BLAST to play.

Yea I watched youtube let's play of this game. Cool stuff. I'm not really interested however. If I was a farmer and I had kid to raise maybe I would make them play that.

Watch docm77's Let's Play. Actually looks pretty fun if you have a LOT of time to kill and want a casual gaming experience.

My son plays it a lot and it is tons better than the previous version he had,he plays this for hours.

Whenever I think of farming simulator all I can think of is run escape and that is very off-putting. I'm at work now so no YouTube videos for me but what is this game's 'goal'? Do you just drive around harvesting things?

You plant crops, harvest them, do little mini missions that involve either carrying a pallet somewhere or mowing grass, get income from sheep/cows/chickens, buy new machines to plant different crops, buy new plots of land...lots to do.

Basically the "goal" is to expand your plots and make a profit. I don't know that there's really an end game other than continuing to upgrade and buy new machines.

Heh, maybe if I ever make it through train simulator 2013 I can pick this up and give it a go.

So...like a more industrial version of Harvest Moon, so to speak?

25h in and Im done.

The vehicles are well done, surprisingly impressive.
But the land and environment textures suck. Fields are poorly laid out, with trees right beside them, stupid roads....the whole map is just garbage and doesnt feel like a farm.

Other things irk me too. I can hire a worker to sod, harvest and cultivate the fields....but I cant hire someone for windrowing, watering, fertalizing, bailing etc. Why in the hell? Its fun to setup a bunch of fields and have the tractors all goto work, but then it gets to a brutal crawl when you have to spend a mind-numbing amount of time collecting the hay.

That and I needed to watch a solid few hours of instructional video becasue the game does a piss poor job of explaining how to play.

Just look at the map of the area

Its just a frigging mess....try getting a harvester from your farm to one of the outlying fields....the drive takes so long the field grow cycles 2-3 times. its stupid.

draw distance sucks aswell.

ah, looking @ mods...

Yeah, I agree about that. No reason why you shouldn't be able to have the workers do ANY of the basic tasks. Also, from what I hear, some people have modded the map to get rid of all the poorly-placed trees.

That's a huge exaggeration, I'd say. Not to mention you can either speed up time to 120x real-time or slow it down to ACTUAL real-time. So when you're travelling, slow it to real time. When you want to speed up growth, crank it to max. Just involves some time dilation management.

@Droc

I am still looking at the mod farm maps for that reason, I hate the layout of the stock one. There are mods that let you haul the harvesters on a tractor/trailer

I also got the Scania truck/trailer pack, holy shit those things are fast!!! Driving anything now that I have my G25 setup is weird to say the least.

I have learned that some crops just suck balls like Hay.

I cant wait till they have dedicated servers.

Wow, never thought I'd see the day. I live in a rural area and this seems like a really boring concept. Does anyone who lives in the country have an interest in this?

Its interesting because the tractors and the equipment is really well done. Loads of detail in the modeling.

Just happened to notice 50,000+ watchers on twitch this weekend for Farming Simulator.

Don't know what that was about, but it sure is raking in viewers.

Terrible game.

I started and I had no idea what to do.

Drove a tractor for a while decided this would be way to boring even if I took the time figure it out it would still be terrible and lame.

Gfx were decent.
