Galaxy Note 2, whose getting one?

Far as battery life goes it's not that good however, friend of mine has the note 2 with the extend battery over 2x capacity and ya thats good.

best battery life ive ever had on a smart phone. I can go two full days with moderate useage without a charge. I use my phone a good bit all day every day. Battery life is about twice as good as my last few androids.

Recent phones: One X, GS3, Note 1, Atrix 2, & Optimus G.

Can anyone recommend a car / dash mount for the Note 2?

*Edit* Damn you [H]ardforums...literally forced my hand..

Also, someone was asking if the Note 2 comes with SwiftKey Flow. I can confirm that it does indeed have Flow installed.

This may be a stupid question...but if you currently have the keyboard set to pen / handwriting input...how do you switch back to the SwiftKey keyboard?

*edit*

Sigh..after dinking with it for like 20 minutes and then posting, I figured it out moments later...You long press the microphone button...

I went in for a Galaxy S3 and instead got a Note 2. So far this phone is fantastic. Battery life is superb. My old Inspire 4g would be dead in 8 hours time. I played with this thing all day yesterday and I never got below 1/2. I am leaving it off the charger all day today while at work just so I can see where it will be at early this evening when I get off work.
I have 30 days to play with it and decide if I can deal with the size. It has at times deemed itself very big. Especially when one handing it and you go to stretch your thumb across the keyboard and your palm will hit a key. I carry it in my front left pocket and so far it's not that bad.
Worried to see how much bulkier a case will make. I'd like to get the Seidio Surface case if I decide to keep it. I think a case would make it much easier to hold since this phone is so slick.

So far it's a keeper...

I just received my seidio active case and holster today for my Verizon Note 2, I really like the case it is not to bulky but protects the corner edges with hard plastic in case this beauty falls (Hopefully never will). I also have the otterbox defender ordered also. I need a pretty secure case for my work environment. I have a nite-ize zipper case with belt clip which also works but It is not very easy to get Note in and out although it cannot fall out of the holster and is the most secure. I will let you know about the otterbox when it arrives.

I must say if you have the note 2 you have to try the app Quill with the S-pen, I never thought I would use the pen alot when I was researching the note. Damn was I wrong, that thing is incredible. I am also trying S-note with the app Evernote.

What other good apps for the Note 2 have y'all found? Please share any others.

Just stick it to the back of the phone, or use it with virtually any case. And best part, you can keep the mount for your future phone(s). I used mine with my Droid Incredible and wife's iPhone 4. Now I use it with my SGS2, and my wife's iPhone 4s.

That looks pretty awesome! Thanks for sharing!

damn, picked up a Rogers version (i317m) but it won't work with wind (Same as t-mobile) without some sort of mods to the firmware.

I'm not even sure the people working the phone booth know.

Haha ya... I was told they would have them Monday Dec 10th went in Tuesday the 11th and they still didn't have pricing. Im going to give it another shot today. Heres hoping they have them in!

Does anyone know when CostCo will be getting the Note 2?

Mine have been aware of it since Nov, they just started getting them in a few weeks ago but they sell freaking quick, much to my sadness. My water damaged Note 1 is driving me insane and theres no way im paying a $200 deductible with Asurion for a refurbished one, fuck that.

Where can I get the Titanium Grey Samsung GN2? Does anyone know of any place that sells the Titanium Grey version?

I know this is a Note 2 discussion, but T-Mobile has Note 1 on sale for free with 2 year contract.

FYI

I used my GNII A LOT when I first bought it and here are some of my results :p

Jesus christ! That's pretty sweet.

I'm a bit of a hypocrite considering I stated that the Note was big. But after using my GSIII extensively, I can see myself bumping up to the bigger screen. How does the screen look like in comparison to gs3? lower PPI but the non pentile screen makes it look pretty good right?

I've used both -- the GNote II looks better overall through dropping PenTile. Hadn't expected that given the lower DPI.

Way better even after taking PPI into account.
FWIW, and I actually bought one of these lol, You can get a charger/spare battery from Samsung for $24.99 + shipping http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EB-H1J9VMAGSTA
50% off all accessories code - rE156940u

I wanted something without a charge port for docking my phone in landscape at night, and with the included spare battery, I don't think I've plugged in my phone a single time since receiving it. For anyone considering an extended battery, I think this is a much better investment.

It looks good but their mian video is down, from the site I can tell it uses magnets, but does it also clap onto the sides with the "X" shape or are those just to rest the phone against to steady it? (unless those are damn strong magnets I'd be a little scared of attaching my phone to a mount with just them holding it)

Back on Topic...

IF you read my other post, I have an iPhone but needed Jailbreak, which is not even a possibility at the moment, so I jumped ship. I just managed to snag a SG Note II for HALF the MSRP off eBay (good ESN, mint condition) should be here next week, looking forward to it (though I will miss the media experience of the iPhone...)

It uses magnets and basically a metal button you attach to your phone (ya right) or case and those work together to hold the phone in place. I ordered one, I'm skeptical but hopeful. But reviews on Amazon claim that the phone is held on to pretty well. Also the X shape thing is just support it doesn't clamp on to the sides of things.

You attach a magnet with 3M adhesive (it's on the magnet out of the box, just peel to use it) and place it on the back of your phone/case. TPU-based cases are awesome for this. And, contrary to some speculation, it does not affect the phone's reception, GPS, or other sensors in any noticeable way. The "X" shape is to just steady the back of the phone, as you guessed it.

I've used mine since late 2010, so about 2 years now and through 2 of my phones (and 2 of my wife's). My habit is to enter car, snap phone onto the Xway, then start the car. I've driven over bumps and potholes, and had 2 front-end alignments because of it. The phone has never fallen off.

Be warned though, when you want to remove your phone from the Xway, you have to SLIDE it down or to the side. Don't pull it straight off. If you do, as strong as the magnets are, you could end up pulling the magnet off the phone/case and leaving it in the Xway. I had this happen once to a magnet that had been on my SGS2 for 12 months. Still, they give you several magnets, and another bag of them is cheap. Much cheaper then getting a new mount every phone.

I compared it to my SGS2 and was I surprised.

The Note 2's screen is excellent. The 5.5 inch screen is actually very suitable even coming from a 4.3" phone. I actually really like the size of the Note 2 and could even go bigger considering I could hold it comfortably with one hand.

I guess the use of a Super AMOLED screen with no PenTile makes a huge difference.

Thats because the aspect ratio changed from 16:10 on the Note 1 to 16:9 for the Note 2 so that HD video would look correct without any black bars

It also was done to decrease width because a lot of people complained the Note 1 was too wide to use single handed. Must suck to have such small hands as I never had issues and my hands arn't that big.

The person that you quoted was comparing the screens on the SGS3 (Pentile) to the SGN2 (non-Pentile). He wasn't comparing it to the Note 1.

I'm impressed! This looks like exactly what I've been looking for! I might even get one of the Fix mounts to attach my FM Transmitter to (my car doesnt have an AUX input sadly and the tape-deck died so that's my only way to get sound into the stereo) Though on second thought, I'll have to see how much space there is between the phone case and the "X" shape, might be able to just loop a zip-tie around one of the arms and hook the transmitter in there... (it's a $1 ebay special from china so I really dont care if it bounces around :p) Really wish a phone manufacturer would include a FM transmitter chip...

Thanks for the info and video link!

So stupid question maybe but is the Pen a supplement to, or a replacement for finger input? Can you still use your finger like a normal android phone?

Supplement. It's a capacitive pen, so it's just like having a sharper, more precise finger. However, unlike those $5-$15 capacitive stylus/pens you can find in stores, this one is pressure sensitive and works differently with specific apps. So it's more of a case of "in addition to your fingers, this pen unlocks additional functionality."

So i'm curious, where are you fella's storing this thing on your person? Front pocket? Clip on belt? Back pocket?

Size of this thing is the only thing holding me back at this point. I wear a lot of pants with that cell phone pocket just above the knee on the leg and they've been perfect for iPhones but I won't be fitting this big boy in there.

You might be surprised. The Note 2 is still plenty pocketable from what I keep seeing.

Inside Coat pocket, I'm getting a belt holster, and I'm expecting it fits in my pants. from what I understand it's not that much larger than my EVO, which fit without any problems in every pocket (other than it threatened to rip my pocket off my shirt with that giant battery I had to add) cant say for sure untill later this week...

Front pocket or jacket pocket... Its thin enough where I don't feel front pocket carry is uncomfortable..

Wow the Note 1 actually looks bigger than the Note 2.

Probably because the Note 2 has increased screen size while the entire phone size remained the same.

The Note 2 is all screen with minimal bezel which makes it look sexy.

Does anyone else's back cover not fit quite right and creaks in certain spots when pressed?

I think that is normal...mine does that too.... I just keep pressing gently along the edges and it seems to stick.

By the way, anyone play any roms using your PS3 paired Bluetooth?
