i7 2600k @ 4.5GHz bottlenecking a GTX680 Sli?

So pretty much the title...
ive been told multiple times that I need to upgrade to the 3770k CPU but it seems like a waste of $
Ive been running Arma II and Im getting like 40 - 60% usage on my cards...
so it does seem to indicate bottleneck
but then again arma II is not the best game i guess

Arma 2 GPU usage drops when the server is cpu bottlenecked. The problem is likely not on your end. I noticed very little improvement in multiplayer performance when overclocked vs. stock on my i7 2600k. The bottleneck was almost always on the server side.
Turn off HT and give that a go. It might be trying to run all the games threads on a single core.

For god's sake don't take moronic advice and side-grade to Ivy. If anything just get a better cooling solution and go for 4.8 or so.

Also,I agree, buying an Ivy Bridge would be a waste since you already have an OC'ed 2600k.
And yes HT means hyper threading.

I just save a lower overclocked profile with HT on in my bios.
And a higher overclock profile with it disabled.
So i can easily switch between the two as needed.
I'm assuming your Asus z77 allows you to save several OC profiles like my Asus z68 does, so its worth a try.

Never thought about this but probably the case.
Let us know how Far Cry 3 is when you get it, although I am realizing more and more how difficult it is get good game play out of it.
