Creative Labs Windows 8 Drivers Released

Keep us posted please.

I just picked up the SB Recon3D PCIe card. Are these the best for that in Windows 8 Pro ?

This is a bunch of shit. Creative had a driver release schedule page with almost all of the cards slated for a November 30 driver update (non-beta). Then on November 30, they released a few drivers and just changed the date on everything else:

Everything on that page with a December or January date was supposed to be released on November 30. Plus they changed the terminology on the page so if they miss dates again, they can just go "Oh well that was just a target LOL!"

Just another disappointed case where Creative fails to properly support a new OS launch...

I haven't noticed any difference from the drivers released at the beginning of November vs. these. Creative should've had these released when Windows 8 was RTM, not when it's been out of a while.

I'm not so hot on downloading drivers from foreign non-english websites. Why wouldn't these have been posted on creative's own website?

They are. This site just posted the direct links (last I checked).

I managed to get whatever they had available at release for the X-Fi range working with Windows 8 a few days after release. No problems to report. Getting the Xbox 360 controller working in BF3? Now that's an issue.

I noticed this too. I'm currently using onboard b/c the creative drivers stop working whenever my computer restarts for an update. The only way I've found to fix is to uninstall and reinstall the drivers :(

These drivers work great even in Windows 7. I can finally switch modes on my Titanium HD without the sound going dead or getting a loud, echoing screech emitting from my headphones.

No need for all that. All you have to do is go into your SoundBlaster Settings and enable both options under the Headphone Detection tab. It is still a pain in the ass but at least you do not need to install drivers upon reboot.

I was pretty impressed with the driver install on my new Z card.

God, finally. Can't wait to be back in the USA to install these drivers. Last I checked, I was still on the beta drivers and the damn settings just won't save.

these drivers are the first ones that work fine for my x-fi titanium hd under win7x64
i finally have this thx trustudio thing without installing shitty pax drivers and it also hasn't lost any settings or failed to detect the sound card ...yet

System specs in sig.

Recon3D PCIe card
OS: Windows 8

I have been having a major issue for a long time when the computer goes to sleep, and waking up, and no sound, and click on the speaker icon in the task bar, shows my monitor icon instead, not my SB Recon3D PCIe card So i have to turn it off, wait like 30 to 60 seconds, and restart it, and usually that does the trick, and my sound is back, and the SB icon is in the task bar tray again like it should be.

But this happens so infrequently, there is no pattern. Some days it never happens at all, and like this morning it happened a lot. I would turn off the computer, and wait, the restart, and again still no sound, and the monitor icon was in the task bar tray, and I would try the Creative sound driver update, and would say no SB product installed

Then a few restarts later and the speaker icon is back in the task bar tray, and I clicked the Creative sound blaster driver update, it found a critical update and I installed, so I guess we'll see.

Is this a known issue with Windows 8 + PCIe sound cards, when waking from a long sleep ?

Ugh  Still happening

Did not turn off computer before work, PC went to sleep while at work, I touch the mouse to wake it, and there is no sound again. I click on the speaker icon in the taskbar tray, and it shows my monitor in there.

WTF

Now I have to go through the routine of turning off computer waiting 60 seconds, turn on again, see if the PC puts the sound on, and not the monitor. I have had to turn it off twice already, still showing the monitor on each reboot.

@Zorachus.

I clicked on thsi thread because I thought maybe they had released new drivers just yesterday.. bleh.

The PCIe X-Fi Titanium card drivers still have an issue with 8.1 that causes the settings not to save unless you change the settings, put the computer to sleep and then wake it back up.

Your issue sounds like maybe something isn't loading correctly when Windows starts up.

I would recommend doing these things in this order.
1. Disable the swap file
2. Disable hibernation (at an admin command prompt type) powercfg -h off
3. Disable System Restore
3. Do a drive cleanup
4. Disable indexing file contents on the boot drive.
4. Clear out the C:\Windows\temp and C:\Windows\prefetch folders
5. From and admin command prompt run chkdsk c: /f
6. Reboot and let it do the chkdsk.
7. Defrag the boot drive. Since Windows 8 will not let you defrag SSDs, use MyDefrag or similiar.
8. Reboot again.

You can now re-enable the swap file, hibernation, and system restore.

If that doesn't fix it, try uninstalling and them re-installing the drivers for your sound card.
