I really hate how people forget he set back computing by a decade. Giving away money you made illegally doesnt make you robin hood. I see his legacy change is already in full swing.

Everyone hating on gates because of what he did while ceo is funny. CEO's must be shrewd and cold in order to achieve power and success in the business world. He was good at what he did. Judge someone not by what they do as part of their profession but what they do wholly because of their own moral code.
 
You'd think that if he was that powerfull, he'd have first three nocked off.

Hey if we can reform the reputation of Alfred Nobel (who's little invention of dynamite indirectly caused the death of millions then we can reform Gates who did nothing of the sort) ... with more people owning and using computers than ever before and having them integrated into almost every aspect of our lives I would question how much he did any bad things for computing ... Haters gonna Hate and Trollers gonna Troll as the saying goes :D

He's still alive. He just faked his death so people wouldn't figure out that he and Steve Ballmer are actually the same person since people started wondering about the whole "Steve" thing with them being so similar.

for all you haters here a nice one. would you be reading this post if it werent for microsoft. would this website exist? im sure outside of all you mac users are viewing this with a microsoft operating system. oh and for you mac users apple wouldnt exist if it werent for bill gates. guess who bailed out steve jobs in 1997 when his company was 90 days from bankruptcy by investing 150 million. Heres a link for those of you who didnt know or believe.
 
The MS bail out of apple is one that has a dubious past. The reality is because steve jobs was a con artist and bill gates typically keeps quiet no one will ever know the full truth. The exact amount of money and many details never seem to be consistent from one account to another. There were many possible motivations that bill gates migtht have had that were selfish.

Basically apple had IP MS had been using and apple could sue for it. Some say they would have won, others say they would have died before they ever lasted long enough to win in court and a patent troll would have bought them. Still at the time MS was chin deep in litigation from various countries on its monopoly and there was literally NO ONE who even came close to something one could claim was a competitor sure as hell not Linux. So Bill may have just said we need these guys to survive as an argument. Or maybe as some say he really did have a soft spot for apple.

IMO if apple was not bailed out some one else would have risen to the occasion. My long standing argument has been that a Linux distro would have done so and that in reality dispite what Linux proponents were saying in the iPod / OSX days Linux would have done well without apple and in fact I believe apple just made sure Linux would never gain any traction in the PC market. Personally I saw various developer who hate MS move from Linux to macs. Pretty much every single one of the Linux users I know of did this in the last 5 or so years.

i think you have a good point on the selfish part for the simple reason that no one and i do mean no one that has money isnt greedy it just comes with it. i think the charity work bill is doing might have soemthing to do with womething that is eating at his conscience. i could be wrong but im allowed to have my theories. i like bill gates becasue he has made me lots of enjoyment by his creations. i hate apple because they think they got it all by that dang bitten in apple logo thats why they will never flourish thats why android and windows phones are taking over the market. but again ill raise a hand for that man. you can hjave 72 billion dollars by not pissing off some people of by not haviong people hate you.

Microsoft did not exist during WWII and China has replaced Russia which isn't even in the top 10 anymore. Russia is like France still running around pretending it matters.
