Bought about $450 worth of stuff from newegg around black friday and it was all shipped out through ontrac. Ontrac apparently then tries to deliver it to someone else and is told I don't live there (given that I live in a studio by myself I have nfc who they talked to but it wasn't someone at my address), so they sent it back to newegg. Newegg is issuing me a refund which is ok I guess but I ordered those things because I wanted them, so now I'm going to be spending a damn long time trying to find at least semi equivalent deals to get all that stuff replaced as newegg refuses to ship the order out again.

I kinda understand where they're coming from but from my end its basically well you ordered from newegg and they picked a shitty delivery service so I can either order again and pay higher prices (around $80) or spend the time trying to find better deals while I have the rest of the parts I already have sit around.

Sounds like you are a good candidate for a PO box or UPS store equivalent.

Ontrac and SmartPost are some of the most stupuf services to cone into existence in a long while.

I order a fair amount of stuff since I tend to do pretty much all my non-food shopping online and this is the first time this has ever happened. It's not like my place is hard to find unless you can't read since you can see the door from the street. If this starts happening frequently I'd seriously consider it but given that no one else seems to have a problem with it I'm going to chalk this up the ontrac driver being retarded or ontrac's system giving the driver the wrong info.

Ontrac screwed me a on missing $1400 order from Newegg. Took a month and a lot of my time to get it resolved and the items reshipped again. I also asked Newegg if its was possible to have my future orders shipped UPS. Newegg was not able to accommodate me on this. Now I don't order from Newegg anymore until they give the option on shipping carriers.

Newegg used these idiots at Ontrac to deliver a motherboard and RAM. These idiots sat on the package in their warehouse for a week before it moved anywhere.

I have had other issues with them as well, the above the most recent.

I hate On-trac!

pay with paypal next time.

over $250... no signature, easy victory for you.

I haven't had a problem with Ontrac from Newegg. The only issue is that they're slow and their tracking isn't updated frequently.

It's funny because Amazon will ship via Ontrac 2 day as well, but they're fast.

Ontrac? What the heck is that? Never even heard of them.

I just recently ordered a crapload of stuff from newegg about 2 months ago, and it was all shipped UPS.

Didn't they give you a choice when you ordered from newegg how it was shipped?

Ontrac is west-southwest regional. I've had two packages shipped through them. Both were next day to me though it was economy shipping. They've been better than UPS.

Thats cuz UPS sucks down south, everyone is better than UPS there. Down south USPS and fedex are best and dependable. That's my experience anyway for 6 years.

Back up northeast UPS is great and fedex could give a shit less, USPS is dependable for me.

I don't really order anything from newegg anymore anyway, shame what they have become really, but it is sign of the times in this economic crunch, they are probably based in california and getting raped by their local government and then this wonderful country on top of it. As usual we pay the price.

NewEgg went down the toilet the minute they went public. Within weeks you could tell the difference.

OnTrac works fine for us at work. Amazon, NewEgg and CDW will all use OnTrac for certain deliveries.

Unfortunately, this is NewEggs way of doing customer service these days. Any smart company would realize the mistake and honor the prices that you paid. Instead, they take the approach of "well you're just going to have to pay full price". I've had it happen to me. Take your business elsewhere.

Speaking of OnTrac, I'm not having much luck with FedEx. Ordered a water heater part on Amazon, paid overnight delivery, nothing came. I check, it's marked as delivered. It never came, I was out front during the supposed "delivery" time (saw no trucks) so I call FedEx and they say they need to talk to the driver. The driver is off until next week. So I'm without hot water until at least Tuesday.

Begs the question, why do these scanners not log (and upload to the tracking) a GPS coordinate when they scan the package as being "delivered". I found a package IN THE STREET that UPS apparently lost. It was marked as delivered on the tracking number 3 weeks prior. Funny thing, it was for a house 20 miles away. UPS came and got it when I called them.

They all suck. I'm used to finding my packages at my neighbors house, since they can't read the head-level building number.

honestly.... ontrac has been pretty good for me. so far... all my black friday stuff shipped with ontrac arrived 1 day earlier than the stuff sent with newegg 3 day......=) 2nd order was the same way ontrac showed up 1 day sooner..... so far no complaints from me. Beats UPS so far... and im in SEATTLE..... lol UPS is KING here.....

Newegg never went public. They withdrew their IPO. So, I'm not sure you could tell the difference between not being public and...well...not being public.

I had one of my Black Friday shipments from Newegg stolen. Since it was recorded as delivered they wouldn't even file a claim. Never again.

I'm going to try calling them one more time. By then 15 days will have passed and I'll be able to dispute the charge on my card.

Just had this happen to me this week with an Amazon order.

Except in my case I got no packages, no driver visit, and no explanation of where the hell my two packages ended up. Got confirmed "delivered" and signed for by the driver on Monday, and five phone calls later they are advising me I need to ask for a replacement from Amazon.

Oh all three of those products are now out of stock? Refund it is then. Thanks for screwing up my christmas gift plans. The company is a joke.

Almost forgot I posted in here.
I got my Newegg delivery issue sorted by disputing the charge with my bank. Within a week of filing the dispute I was refunded without even having to talk to another customer service rep from either my bank or Newegg.

Sigh, I have never had any issues with OnTrac before, though I thought it was a bit odd they would show-up in an unmarked vehicle, but w/e.

Anywho, I ordered a new gaming LCD from Newegg for my gf son's xmas present and it wasn't delivered on the service commitment day. Crap, I hope its not damaged.

Service Commitment Time: 12/6/2013 by End of Day
OUT FOR DELIVERY - Dec 6 2013 8:18AM - Vancouver
UNDELIVERABLE - OTHER REASONS - Dec 6 2013 6:09PM - Vancouver
Delivery Time: n/a
Delivery Status: IN TRANSIT

Other reasons? Hmmm, well...I know the delivery guy ain't dead, vehicle accident...maybe....didn't want to work late....not an excuse. I understand its a Friday and I would rather be doing something else than working, but hey work is work, you have to put in OT sometimes to get the job done. Granted, the NW is having a Winter storm (zero snow down in my area), however its not like the package is coming from NY.

Probably had more to do with a lot of cyber monday stuff being delivered and didn't have enough time to get everything out that day. It's not a matter of the driver not wanting to work late as it is the supervisors not wanting to give out OT.

Ontrac delivered some stuff I ordered for my Dad to his neighbor. He took a walk and found it three houses up. Sad. Amazon didnt give a shit.

I hope that's the case bro.

*Updated on their tracking site after an email was sent to customer service....

REDELIVER ON NEXT BUSINESS DAY - Dec 6 2013 7:58PM - Corporate

*Keeping finger, toes, and eyes crossed.

I checked out TigerDirects website, from what I read they only use UPS as the primary carrier for most small items (under 70lbs) :)

"REDELIVER ON NEXT BUSINESS DAY"

Thats the note on my package from Newegg via Ontrac today. So, we'll see if they show up Monday.

So this isn't missed by any unsuspecting [H] who ends up getting screwed on a holiday purchase:

Long time (15+ years) big customer (more than a dozen builds when I look at my order history) customer of newegg. I won't buy from them anymore at all. The real point of this post is to warn folks against buying big ticket items from them. Bought an expensive (over $1,000) Denon receiver from them two years ago. Was concerned at the time that they be an authorized dealer. Got it in writing and called newegg where they told me they were an authorized dealer. Six months later the receiver starts having problems. I call Denon and they tell me the warranty is covered because newegg is not an authorized dealer. Call newegg and this joker tells me they'll contact denon and take care of it - this is over a year ago now and it turns out they never even contacted denon despite numerous calls and assurances. Apparently this is not an unusual case. They have a history of getting their hands on high end stock through questionable means and the selling it out claiming to be an authorized dealer. You'd be safer buying off the back of a truck

For all the (many fewer these days) newegg apologists - no, it's not deon's fault. They have a legal contract in their warranty. Newegg committed fraud by advertising themselves as an authorized dealer when they were not. I've got a small claims case going in va on exactly that point. Now newegg sells under the "world wide stereo" line. DON'T TRUST IT. Even if they're an authorized dealer now, they could have that pulled at any time, and don't expect them to tell you. Newegg is happy to screw their long time customers over a single sale if it will make them money. Sad, they were once a great place for hardware, now they're a clip joint living off that long dead reputation and the support of a few remaining fanboys.

I have a nightmare story with Ontrac via Amazon... (Las Vegas area) same thing happened to my friends up in Seattle too... Ordered movies from Amazon.. marked as delivered and never received the items. Even waited at home all day and not one knock on the door. Thankfully I was able to get a refund... only after I turned down another attempt from amazon to make it right by sending it through Ontrac again. LoL. No thank you!

If you google Ontrac you will see a lot of complaints about non deliveries saying delivered. It's like the drivers are just kicking back not delivering and keeping the merchandise.

Amazon was good on getting me a refund. I told them they should allow us to NEVER use ontrac for amazon prime or non prime members. They should just drop Onstar as a courrier.

A) You should always check with the manufacturer, not the vendor trying to sell you an item, as to if the warranty is covered by them.... and B) where on Earth are you getting this supposed info about "shady methods of obtaining items"? Making almost definitely false accusations to try to make your forum post look cooler/more "truthful" is pathetic.

It's called Gray Market sales, Google it. And with a previous reputation like Newegg HAD at the time, why would he worry about calling the manufacturer?

Ontrac is basically free overnight shipping for me. Sometimes, I'll order at 2 PM and it's at my door @ 11:30 AM next day.

I've been a NewEgg customer for 10 years. I'd rather have Amazon, but they charge me tax. But all in all, New Egg never screwed me on an RMA and i've always gotten my orders without issue. The pump just broke on my Corsair H80i. They paid to ship it back and I anticipate a replacement soon...can't ask for more.

It's called due diligence, and I know what "gray market" means, what makes you think newegg is a fake vendor? You can't go around accusing with no evidence or proof like you and he are.

Generally speaking if your retailer is not listed as an authorized seller, I would not buy from them.... Yamaha does the exact same thing with their audio receivers and as far as I know they have no online authorized dealers that do not have B&M locations....

Easy there Tiger... ;) I'm not accusing anyone of anything, and I agree with you about due diligence. But, calling the guy pathetic for getting burned but a company he thought was upright about their sales offerings is bogus. By the flip side of your argument, why is Newegg selling Gray Market items? By definition, if they're not officially an authorized dealer, then it's Gray Market. The point I think the JSM88 is trying to make is that, Newegg's reputation has suffered quite a bit in the last 5 years since the US economy has tanked, business gets more cutthroat and the consumer always gets shafted. If his complaint about pre/post-sales had been isolated, you'd have a point. But it's not. Newegg used to be a completely trusted vendor for anything and everything they sold, but now it's caveat emptor. That's not to say I won't patronize them anymore, but we all need to be more careful about what we buy and from whom.

Just to contribute a positive experience to the discussion, I've placed 4 orders from Newegg since 1/1/14. Each has been delivered by ontrac in 1 day (using my free shoprunner 2 day shipping). Maybe it helps that their headquarters is in Phoenix and I'm up in Flagstaff, but so far, it's been a great year for Newegg purchases.
