I've searched everywhere and can't find an answer...

I just installed a new video card, Sapphire HD7870 2GB and fah is not detecting it. The System Info tab in fah only shows 1 video card, my secondary 9600gt i use for SoftTH. Everything else works great, all games run strong. Drivers installed without issue. The card shows up in device manager ok and CPUID hardware monitor sees it. I don't have a clue what's wrong with fah or why it's not wanting to see the new card.

Could really use some advice on this. Thanks!

probably need to white list it...
(I am digging into it)

edit:
hmm should work...

#1 Get gpu-z if you don't already have it.

#2 Check driver version (tell us)

#3 look for the OpenCL square on the bottom make sure its checked... if not we will need to work on it.

#4 check device id.

yours should be
1002 6818
or
1002 6819

if its not you need to add it to the gpu.txt file.

GPU-Z reports 9.2.0.0 Catalyst 12.10/Win7 64. Device ID 1002-6818. OpenCL is checked.

when you have a nvidia card mixed and you are trying to fold on the AMD card i believe you have to force it to use the card instead of just letting the client try to find it otherwise all it see's is the nvidia card. but i don't know what the client commands are in the v7 client to force it to run on the AMD card.

Make sure you are running the latest version, 7.2.9 as this will auto-update GPUs.txt.

I deduce from your post that you only want to fold on the AMD GPU. You will need to be in expert mode, click on configure and go to the slots tab. Click on the AMD GPU slot, then click edit. By default all the GPU settings are set to auto-detect, so you'll see -1. Try setting the opencl-index to zero. Click Okay, then save. You may need to restart the client for it to take effect.

You may also need to set the GPU-index if that doesn't get you going. If you do need to change the GPU-index, make sure it actually starts on the correct GPU. If you accidently start folding on the nvidia card, you will probably need to delete the WU after you change the GPU-index as the AMD card won't know how to deal with a nvidia WU. It may be a bit of trial and error, as each system enumerates GPUs a bit differently, which is why I can't tell you definitively what settings you need.

Let us know how you get on.

Ah... there we go. I was still running an older 7.1.x version. Updated to 7.2.9, and it picked it up first try. Didn't even realize there was a newer version out. Thanks! :D

so it was gpu.txt lol....

Excellent result. Fold on.
