Wait...there was an American Revolution? News to me. Next thing you'll try to tell me is there's been a man on the moon. Pranksters.
What's a newspaper?
I was telling this to a LOT of people. Assassin's Creed is being made in Montreal. Do you really think some Francophone Canadian knows about US History?
Actually, yes, because people in Southern Canada watch a lot of American TV.

I do not know what to say to that when 37% of Americans are unable to Locate America on map of America

Nah ... we faked those moon landings ... no way someone made it all the way to the moon
Dude, seriously...do you NOT read history? The US did for real send someone to the moon. It was some assassin guy from the revolutionary war era. It's true, I read about it in a Canadian newspaper just the other day.

Are you sure ... I am pretty sure the secret Alien fleet orbiting our planet and running the secret world government would shoot down a spacecraft like that ... hmmmm ... maybe since it had an assassin on board it was invisible in order to slip through undetected
The article was tripe, but it (and some of the comments below it) opened my eyes to Canadian lines of thought I never knew existed. Apparently there are fervent believers that the American Revolution was all about a bunch of traitorous criminals stealing the legitimate territories of the British crown, and that the War of 1812 was an abortive attempt by the nasty "Americans" to take over Canada into the bargain, stopped by the noble Redcoats and their trusty indigenous allies. You know, rather than the abortive attempt of the British Crown to re-subjugate the Colonies. I can see that being the prevalent point of view among loyal colonies in the 1790s, but not in 2012.
In the broader context opened up by the comments, it seems to be part of some kind of pro-Royalist Canadian revisionism that's using America-bashing as fuel. I didn't think the Canadian temperament was given to getting this worked up about anything, let alone defending the tawdry record of European colonialism. What is going on up there?
