Burning [H]ot: THQ Humble Bundle

Ok, the pay terms say you can pay with any major credit card, so I want to do that and NOT use google/paypay/amazon. Anyone know how to do it?

Pay someone else for a key if you're that bound and determined to avoid those companies.

if you click on paypal it will ask for account or you can enter in a credit card

If you've never bought anything from either of those three and don't have accounts at any of them, I don't think you can be helped. I just used Amazon and it's just like buying anything else from Amazon. I can understand not wanting to use Paypal, but Amazon?

I added the cc to my amazon, got it and then removed the CC. I like to keep credit cards off my accounts, especially since both Amazon and Paypal have been hacked before.

Anyone have an extra key code for the humble bundle or Saints row 3? Shoot me a pm if you do. My credit card is maxed out for about 2 weeks. ( that's what I get for charging my tuition on my CC lol)

I heard THQ was in trouble, but not this much trouble.

According to the article THQ has lost like 99% of it's value over the last like 5 years. Holy crap.

The article also says that the games in the bundle can be had cheap for the Console at retail pricing than they can for the PC. Not sure I agree with that, especially since in the same paragraph they say THQ claims it's $190 worth of bundle but the games could be had for $150 on Steam.

As much as THQ has gone down hill. I'd like to see it stick around and produce some great games in the future. Hopefully learn from there mistakes and make even better games.

The $190 value is also factoring the cost of the soundtracks.

They are trying to tread water for major releases next year. Which you might notice are also all sequels to games in the bundle :p

Man, if they pull through, you could make a killing on their stock.

I don't know if you've known this before, but EVERYTHING has been hacked. every credit card server, every bank, every payment processor out there has been hacked before. Multiple times. In fact, the only thing between your house and the Humble Bundle colo facility that hasn't been hacked is your phone line, and even that's chancy. If you're going off "it's been hacked" to try and excuse yourself from doing online commerce, then you should never buy, sell, or trade anything through the internet ever again.

LOL could not have said it better, but specially with credit card companies keeping up with fraudulent charges, I have had my card number charged once and my bank caught on to it like fucking super glue, seriously they send me a fraud alert that woke me up in the morning, I thought it was a spam call, lmao..Thing was reversed no questions asked..

I wonder if the attitude THQ has about DLC has been a driving factor behind their downfall. Look at Dawn of War 2 and Saints Row 3, each game had a crap load of DLC, most of which should of either been included with the game, or at least bundled into one $5-10 DLC.

I only bring this up because I checked out the DLC for SR3, and almost choked when I saw over 20 DLC. Then I shook my head sadly when I found out the first dozen DLC had shipped with the game.

This really is a good deal no matter what though, for $6 you get a lot of entertainment. I bought a couple for $2 for cheapie christmas presents lol.

Telephones have been hacked too, dont you remember jolly rogers cookbook?

No. While people complain about DLC the reason companies do it is because they are profitable. Saints Row actually had higher than expected DLC sales as a bright spot for the company.

THQ losses are to failed products (uDraw, biggest one), canceled development (W40k MMO no longer a MMO), and lower than expected sales on licensed properties (UFC Undisputed).

THQ runs a bad business thats all, they have lots of popular products if they cant make money it just means things are managed very poorly. Like someone else said in one year they brought in 650 millions. While it is not a perfect comparison I think that builds you 6 AAA titles per year. Yet somehow they seem to be just plain out of money.

Could be desperate marketing! ;)

Seems to be working though, could be an idea from the potential investors who would benefit GREATLY from a fire sale of old games they have no relation to, and generate BIG profits from games in development.

Essentially a win-win for clients and company survival. (maybe not so much for the average worker there, but that is usual unfortunately)

Have to admit I would never have bought SR3, even at $5, but am having a blast playing it. So the marketing worked on me anyways.

Everyone that was going to buy these games has already. So selling them at these prices is pure marketing genius.

I wanted to try out Metro 2033 but never did. I would not have paid for it normally. I would have just gone without.

But then this deal came along and now I have all these games that I have not played before (well I played Company of Heroes before, but I did not own it).

So they got some money out of me that they would not have otherwise recieved. Also, I have now played (or will soon play) all of these titles, and thus, will be poised to perhaps buy their sequels.

Maybe, but almost certainly not. Why would anyone ever only pirate THQ titles? It's not like they deserve to be ripped off the most right?

I don't know about that, but I've bought like 6 copies of the original Red Faction.

609,638 people who most likely wouldn't have bought them if it wasn't for the price.

Not for all the titles though. I bought it just for Saints Row 3 and Darksider. Already own the rest

In for 1 - don't have any of these yet. Steam backlog just keeps growing

I'll agree, but I actually chose to allocate the majority of the purchase to the charity, with an even (minority) split going to the service and publisher. I wasn't really interested in the games themselves, as I already own the game I would have wanted to try (Company of Heroes), but getting free stuff for charity = gravy in my boat.

Duude, the games were not free if you had to pay something to get them. So no. They arn't free. If they were free they wouldn't ask for your credit card number duh.

Holy shit.

He gave to charity, and in return he got games for his gift.

He intended to give the money to charity anyway, so the games were essentially free to him.

I was going to give 50 but I already owned all of these games previously, before they became part of the Humble Bundle series.... so I only gave 25. I still feel bad considering of the 629,973 bundles sold at this point in time, I'm sure at least 10% are just sub-5 dollar purchases. I know several people IRL that's been doing that for every humble bundle and I can't convince them otherwise.

It is sad that there are people out there that will only spend a dollar on things like this. I am not a big spender, mind you, but I generally buy all these in triplicate and always a few dollars more than what the average is at that point. It's just the right thing to do.

I don't see why it's sad. It's $1 more than they had before and those kind people paying less lowers the average for everyone else :D

Plus a bunch of people picking up bundles like this will never play the of the games...

I bought a bunch for $1 each to give away to family / friends (most aren't gamers, so it's an opportunity to spark an interest) -- ...and that's my charity! :)
