Are the Audio Technica ATH-A700 good headphones?

i have only one transaction with them, but i'd easily buy from them again. the headphones were listed as 'Used - Like New' but they looked brand new (and more than likely were). they smelled like injection molded plastic right off the factory line and the pads looked and felt brand new.

I can second this. The A700x was also described to be "used - like new" and it looked new and came in the original packaging.

Yeah, for gaming, you want a balanced headphone. So there should be good clean bass but not BASS IN YO FACE bass. Reason is that you lose the vital directional sound cues.

Just got my pair of ATH-A700X today. Haven't even bothered burning them in yet but they sound amazing - very clear and distinct sound and the bass is good too; not overpowering but I can still feel it, even with the volume lowered. +1 for the headband design too. Not sure what the few reviews I read about saying the band makes creaking noises were talking about.

Oh, and they're LOUD. I had to drop my system volume to 15% to not be deafening.

Better clarity than my Klipsch 2.1 speakers. Way better than any other headset I've used.

I own the A700 and they are a nice headphone espsically for gaming. they have good bass

I would try out hte M50's though because you can save $$ and get them for $99 and they are more of a studio recording quality headphone and have more bass
I have heard some really good reviews

well, lots of people say the 700promk2 is far superior to the M50. so that's where the line of trading the 700x for them come in.

draken, I agree, they are a great buy for the price. glad you enjoy yours too.
