XFX AMD Radeon HD 7850 about to go on Lightning Deals @Amazon

At what price point will this be worth the upgrade from a 5850? There aren't many games where I have to turn down my quality (other than AA). Though sometimes I can't run 2560 x 1440 native and have to turn down to 1920 x 1080 like on Assassin's Creed: brotherhood to become fullly smooth.
 
If you're happy, why upgrade? Wait one more generation. Either get a cheap 7850 then, or grab a 8850.

I am sick of my struggling 4850, so I am hoping for a good deal. I'd like to play Skyrim and Batman: Arkham City smoothly.
 
$150 after $20 MIR. Good deal for a 2gb card. We saw similar deals during Black Friday
 
haha. I was on the webpage when it was doing the countdown and it wouldn't even load.

I hit refresh and it was 100% claimed.

Amazon lightning deals are a joke. Either they have nothing good, or they only sell a few at that price.
 
Yeah I see it still in stock... I'd like to upgrade from my 4850 but... I'm not sure if I need to yet lol...
 
it is in stock, lol. But amazon doesn't allow everyone to buy it at lightening deal price, kinda bullshit if you ask me. Shit is always full before it even goes on to lightening page, it is a perfect bait and switch..

??? This is a lightning deal, he said all claimed in 30 seconds. He wasn't lying. Yeah it's in stock for those who want to spend the normal price which would be $208.99 after MIR.
To actually get it at $169.99 - the MIR making it $149.99 you can't unless you're around 10-20 on the waitlist, any higher than that is next-to-impossible.

This is how lightning deals work...think of it as two separate stock partitions. They have an allocated few for the lightning deal which, if it's a popular deal, will go OOS on that particular partition within seconds (such as the case in this deal which I find is pretty good if you don't mind XFX), if you're not running by-pass scripts or don't live next to the server-farms, then you simply won't be able to click fast enough.

All you have to do is ask does a 7850 fit your needs, do you need a gpu right away, and do you not mind XFX; the more yes, the more incentive to buy because the price incentive is already very good.
I wouldn't doubt other brand 7850s will come down near this price between now and new years. Keep that in mind if you don't like xfx and you can wait.

It was in stock at the lightning price when I posted.
 
Amazon's having weird bugs then. Before you posted I saw the sale price, saw a red countdown from just under an hour, and saw that it was 100% claimed with the option to get on the waitlist.


Anyways. $150 after rebate is pretty good if you can get in on it... however their system works.

Every time someone posts an XFX deal in hot deals no matter how low the price, there are at least 3-4 posts about how much everyone hates them. Just search XFX you'll find them. :(
 
This was a great deal...

But I bought the 7750 instead since it more closely matches the A10-5800 APU I have...
 
I don't know why the hate for XFX, the cards I've owned from them have been great, support as well.
 
Seriously was tempted to buy this. Glad the lightning deal ended quick because I really didn't want to blow my money on a deal like this.

Keep me posted about MSI HD7850 power edition or MSI HD 7870 Hawk deal. :)

I've had no problems with any of the 7 XFX Cards I've previously purchased.

The only card I ever had problems with was a Sapphire that arrived DOA.

Even that didn't put me off the Sapphire brand...it's just something that happens from time to time. My current 7970 is a Sapphire and it's been great.
 
Amazon needs more GPU deals I have gift certificates i want to use and this would've been perfect
