First off, hello! This is my first post. :)

Second, Im building a new computer (on a budget) what is the best $150 dollar range video card?

Thanks in advance.

Not knowing the specs of your build, I'd say skimp on the mobo and cpu and put that toward the GPU.

if you are not into overclocking, a H67 mobo and say a core i5 2310 could set you a little over 200 bucks. that can save you enough cash to put towards a Radeon 7870.

a 7870 is still have 100 dollars more than he wants to spend not factoring in rebates.

For 150 the best bet is to buy a 6950 2GB card from someone here on the forum. It's one generation behind, but for the price you really can't beat it. There's likely to be a flood of Radeon hardware here in the next week or two due to the Bitcoin block reward getting cut in 1/2. Lots of people will not be able to mine profitably anymore and will sell off.

If you keep a look out you might be able to score a 7850 new somewhere online if you hunt for deals. I just saw them for 180 on newegg -- 160 after rebate.

I just purchased an EVGA GTX650ti. I play at 1080p, and the most demnading game I play is MW3. Seems like a perfect match for me. I paid $139 at the egg.

Go for a 2gb card. Nowadays games do take advantage of more than 1gb

Thanks for all the feedback, while I was looking on my own the 7850 came up as one of the best cards in my price range. And as for the budget for my entire build it would be Mid-High $500's. As for my build plans so far it looks something along the lines of this:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI H67MA-E35 (B3) Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Case: NZXT Gamma Classic (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Apevia 500W ATX Power Supply

Any suggestions?

I would recommend a better brand PSU.

This so hard.

Also, you have the 2500K and an H67 motherboard. If you plan on overclocking that CPU, you'll need a different LGA1155 board which is not B65, H61, Q67 or H67. If you're fine with stock clocks, might as well save some cash and get a locked CPU.

I'm not sure how locked in you are at $150... so FYI... NCIX has a XFX 7870 on right now for $189.99 CND after a $20 rebate (cyber Monday sale). Not sure if that's available on their US site.

Anyway I've noticed NCIX seems to regularly have 7870's in the sub $200 range lately, they also have a PowerColor on for $199.99 atm... so if you can wait and save a few more $$$ I think it'd be worth it to you. I'd also agree with those that mentioned going with a locked CPU (given your motherboard choice) and putting that cash towards the GPU.

craigslist or local deals , i found a person on CL that i bought 2 perfectly good 570 GTX 100$ a piece so for 200$ , I bought me and my bro each a card and no complaints yet. Just Be sure to test it before handing out money! The guy also supplied me with a couple beers while it was being GPU tested (heaven) for 1 1/2 hours!
