Dear Google,

Las Vegas would be a great place to start your next Google Fiber test city. Call me, we'll do lunch.

Sincerely,

-Me

Two analysts from BTIG Research went to Kansas City to see what Google's new cable-company killer, Google Fiber, is like. What's it like? It's awesome. The Time Warner Cable system in Kansas City appears to be freaking out about the rollout of Google Fiber, and for obvious reasons. Google Fiber puts the Time Warner Cable offering to shame.

I second the Las Vegas statement. Would be a great upgrade from the 3G I'm currently using.

ISPs better be lobbying their local governments to prevent Google from offering services that they don't want to offer at prices that they don't want to offer! Market competition is only fair when the competition's service level and prices are exactly the same!

Guess Time Warner is going to have to lower their prices-HAHAHAHHHHHJH BWAHHHAHAHHAH A HAHAHAHAHHAHAH AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAHAHHWHHAHHHAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Oh jeeze sorry, couldn't keep a straight face there.

Dear Google:

Please come to my area......please.

We have Time-Warner.
1 MB download speed, on a good day.
49 bucks a month.

Oh yeah, makes perfect sense to prevent Google from offering services that the others don't want to offer. In the name of fairness, right? lol?

I always figured you lived in Texas, hah learn something new. And to stay on topic, what do I need to say to my Mayer and City Counsel to get them to convince Google to lay fiber in my town!

Paint your ass cheeks to match Google's logo colors, baboon style and get to seducing.

So is this one of those fun scripts that inserts your location, or did Steve really say Las Vegas? I always thought he was based where KB was based.

I'm done with High Speed Internet. Give me 56k back. At least the caps were unlimited.

my small town has an agreement they don't admit with time warner. really, really annoying.

I'll probably never see this.

Used to be in Alaska, IIRC. Dual Celeron 550's using gutter as an air shroud at Hyperthermia... Those were the golden days.

I really hope Google can move into other locations with this stuff. It'd REALLY boost the local ISP's to have to compete (or die).

LOL @ the people who think the above is not sarcastic.

I live in KCMO, and unfortunately my address is not even considered for the 2013 rollout, more like 2014, Time Warner has been gradually increasing my broadband speeds. When I first signed up, I was getting 7M/1M max for $40/month. But ever since Google announced KC as it's first market for Google Fiber almost 2yrs ago, TW has been steadily increasing the download speeds to it's current 20Mbps. Unfortunately, the upload speeds remained the same at 1Mbps. As soon as Google makes it up here though, TW will get a pink slip from me....;)

I also live in KCMO (Parkville mo) I use TW for the past 12 years and it has got faster yes but like you said the upload sucks. Send a file or anything with peer to peer sharing and it is awful slow. Love to have the Google stuff here.

no, the bitchin' red camaro in in Vegas

I already signed up for there system as soon as it arrives to Los Angeles. By the time it hits Los Angeles it will officially be mainstream powa. Looking forward to it.

Sonic.net is starting to roll out in San Francisco, although in one particular location, same deal $70/month for 1Gbps, or $40/month if you only want 100Mbps plus free phone :) Unfortunately they don't have the billions of dollars that Google has to just do a massive roll out.

Gotta love it though, someone offers a service that is cheaper and better than yours then maybe that will make you wake the fuck up, how about cable for $20/month? You'll get customers back then.

I'd love the hell out of Google if they rolled-out 1 Gigabite per second fiber in my home town...I'd be all over that like a fat kid in a cookie jar...

For the love of all that is good in this universe, please fucking bring this to the D.C. area and every gawd damn city around it! Bethesda, Rockville, Baltimore; Montgomery County, Baltimore County, every damn county and city in Maryland and VA, we fucking need dis shit!!!!!!!! Please please please please please please please please please..................

about fucking time internet speeds got faster and cheaper.

greedyass isp's letting the internet stagnate

I second the Google coming to Vegas. Cox isn't as bad as some people make Time Warner but it still sucks being doubleteamed by them and Centurylink.

Come to think of it, I need to call up Centurylink soon so they'll stop screwing me over on my monthly bill, never again combine bills with DirectTV....

That would require the hundreds of lobbyists for the big companies (not only cable but also wireless), who happen to live in the MD/VA/DC region to suddenly stop doing their jobs of stifling progress.

I'd love to see google fiber spread like a dirty sexy nerd cancer all over this country.

Internet speeds in this entire country suck ass overall -- last place I lived *ALL* you could get was AT&T, and you would be paying around 40-60 dollars for 6Mbit down 1Mbit up. Total rip off.

Hopefully the big archaic companies (cable/satellite/cellular) will wake up and realize "holy crap we've got to get with the times"

Data is cheap, bandwidth is cheap the consumer has been getting screwed to the wall for years.

Looks like I'm moving to KS City, KS. Anyone have a quick and easy way to equate "fiberhood" names to actual places?

I sincerely hope this comes to the UK eventually. I would be first in line to get gigabit speeds.

I think people know its sarcastic, but its also the truth.. and its probably what is going to happen. I live in a city where only one cable company is allowed.. how this happens I don't know ..' friends ' and regulations I guess.

Google has big plans. They are planning to put up a bunch of data centers I know cause the company that I work for are making the coils for it. Let me tell you they are not small. They are planning to water cool the systems. I wish they would come to Mississippi but I doubt it will ever happen cause we are just too rural.
