Hi,
I changed my case today (check the mod here: http://youtu.be/ok8eBjrjkN4) but, the bloody LED blinks when the system is on stand by! It is the most annoying thing! Plus the case light its so bright it is impossible to sleep or even sit in the same room. Any help on this (except unplugging the actual led diode)?

Thanks,
S@

You sure you have plugged the wires into the mobo the correct way ?

I used scotch tape and a black marker to dim mine slightly.

Everything is plugged correctly. Its up and running but when it goes to sleep I get the lightshow. I thought of dimming it with a marker, but I don't want any blinking. Its sleeping ffs, I want it to sleep, not snoring! :D

I found out about the ASUS blinking LED when I did my first ASUS mobo build. (I came from Abit, to Gigabyte, to Asus.) I shorted out the LED to shut it off. My next build will be based on Gigabyte, only for the LED issue.

That's right: I will NOT use ASUS mobo's - regardless of any feature they offer - as long as they make the LED blink when the computer is in sleep mode.

Carry on.

 so.. if they came out with a mobo that gave you the best blowie while you were computing.. you STILL wouldn't buy it, just because an LED blinks?! that's... [H]ardcore, i guess.

is there a setting in the bios that changes the sleep state type? sometimes the different states have different features...

Depending on the type of ASUS MB, you should be able to adjust that sleep mode feature via the BIOS.

Which MB do you have?

Lol petty.

Man up, make your motherboard your bish. This is [H] where we make the computer do what we want instead of submit to its wiles. Like maybe even use a lower voltage led.

Yeah, [H], not . I will NOT be dissuaded by my performance goal! Tempt me with favors, I do not care. Blowie, indeed. You, over at oftcore may forego control over your computer in exchange for transient, physical, pleasure. Not [H]ere, bubba, not [H]ere.

Use a _lower_ voltage led. Ba[H][H]! Again, this is [H]. More voltage, more current, faster cycles! That's right, baby, I juiced that blue LED up to 12v. It became a WHITE LED. Blazing white...for about 2 seconds. Then it became a smoking orange LED, slowly dimming to black.

Now I have a black LED which draws ZERO power from ANY rails!! Woot! Win for me!

When my Asus sleeps, so does the LED. When my Asus wakes, um, my LED stays a stunning black.

;)

The funny thing is I was just searching on how to easily get my led on my ASUS motherboard to blink when in sleep.

I believe your problem could be easily solved by removing the led from the motherboard headers and instead connecting it in series to 1K resisistor in the +5V rail and connect the other pin to gnd.

Before I put tape over the led I would just not connect the led to the power led header of the motherboard or am I missing something?

Edit: I guess that is for dimming not totally removing the light.

I stopped using case leds a long time ago. What's the use? Bright and/or blinking leds are annoying.
I connect only power switch pin from the case.

If on a ASUS P67/Z68/X79/Z77 or AMD 9 series board, go into UEFI>Advanced>APM and set ErP to enabled.
