How many looking at a Tablet for light gaming?

I'm not a gadget guy myself.
I still have a "dumb phone" because I need a cell phone, not much else.

But there are times when some light gaming suits me when I just don't feel like sitting at the desk (mainly because I do that for 8hrs a day).
And android powered games are fun; yeah 1000 variants of tower defense, and 2D jumpers, etc. But I saw a demo of a Tegra 3 phone and a very cool looking FPS.
The most obvious choice is the Google Nexus 7. Tegra 3, price, features for $199.
But is my focus to narrow?
What other things should I consider?

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Android games don't have enough depth for me. I don't want to sit at a desk either, so I got a cheap laptop. Any a6 3400 or a8 3500 will do great at native resolution medium settings. $399 New or around 300 used...

Yeah,
The other thing that occurred to me in considering a tablet was my last trip for training. I had to lug my old ass company provide laptop on the plane, and drag it with me through airports. Exactly WHY did I need it? For viewing PDF docs and company email. Thing a thin light laptop will do nicely.

iOS tends to have a more mature and refined selection of titles. It also attracts more and higher quality developers because of the money involved.

For that reason i'd recommend an ipad, either the full or the mini, depending on your preference for portability. In two years you will still have a capable gaming device, while your android tablet will be three generations outdated and your purchased games will be a mix of smooth, buggy, and unplayable.

Another option is to grab a Windows tablet running on an intel chip and get access to the steam library + windows app store. Something like the Samsung Slates

Will second your decision on the Nexus 7. Great price point and performance, can't beat it. Don't overpay for a new iPad. Go used if you do.

Personally, I like the ipads better than the android tablets. The Ipad mini is fairly cheap, and you can get a used ipad 2 or a used ipad 3 for a reasonable price. Or, buy one new with the black friday sales on Apple's site today. (believe me, it's the ONLY time that Apple drops their prices for a bit).
