So recently I noticed that my computer was taking quite a long time to start about half the time when I powered it on. When I finally did get into windows, accessing 1 of my 5 drives would always cause the computer to hang. Occasionally, that drive would not even show up in the bios or windows. Other times, windows boots at normal speeds, the drive is there, and everything is fine.
One one of the recent startups where the computer started slow but recognized the drive I ran the HDTune error check on the drive and after about 10% showed up as fine it read the entire rest of the drive as bad sectors. I shut down and restarted immediately, tried again, and the error check completed without issue. I then ran the WD diagnostic scan and it showed the drive in good health.
I've tried replacing the SATA cable connecting the drive, I've tried using a different hard drive power connector for the drive (including switching it to the other hard drive "line" and using a 4-pin->sata power converter to use a completely different line, and tried switching the drive to a different SATA port on the motherboard). No matter what, I always wind up with the drive being fine half the time and and not working the other half, basically one of:
If I disconnect the drive, I have no startup issues. With all that said, drive failing or something else? If it is the drive failing, why do the scans show it as working fine occasionally?

- slow startup, drive appears but causes issues when I try to access it, eventually stops being accessible at all and stops showing in my computer/disk management.
