MasterCard will unveil a new interactive credit card with touch-sensitive keypad and built in display. The new issue will be a safer alternative to the standard cards and provide pertinent information to the cardholder.

MasterCard have said that future revisions will be capable of displaying things like available card balance, loyalty and reward points, recent transactions and other interactive information.

Hey Mastercard, how about you just release a smart credit card with a chip like every other freaking nation on the planet uses.

And then MasterCard realized people already carry a touchscreen device with way more power and an internet connection to boot.

Lol, my father still pays for everything in cash. Stoped by the other day and it was so dam cold in his house, he said he hadn't noticed.

Seems like it would be more likely to go wrong... Why not just get rid of the credit card altogether?

Yeah, we could replace it with a system of currency backed by precious metals. And we could establish a national minting service that is authorized to strike currency and print bills. OMG, we could call big units of currency "dollars" and small units "cents" which would be totally safer and more effective than credit cards since you have to pay each other in person instead of being able to hide behind an screen.

Nah I propose work credit, ala United Federations of Planets currency system.

This like the WoW/D3 authenticator that now the credit card company can blame you for any mischarged and not have to eat them? :)

CC's are using the "dollar" as the currency behind the technology as well. Also, the dollar is not backed by precious metals, at least not for the last few decades anyway.

So..uh, what?
