Sleeping Dogs

So dried seahorse keeps you hard for 3 hours but doesn't give you rhythm or make you use your mouth more? Loving the dialogue in this game!

Is it possible to somehow disable the AI. Running 3D I find my GTX 580 not quite enough for the task also after disabling all advanced shadows. I have to go down on scenery complexity from extreme also. Got okay performance then but I really don´t need AA when running 3D on my 24" monitor :)

I bought a 7950 and it comes with a free coupon for hitman, far cry 3 and sleeping dogs, none of those interest me. Anyone interested?

I'm not too far in, but I can tell you that the graphics are pretty amazing. The obvious comparisons are Batman and GTA4, but it looks a generation beyond either of them visually. As long as you turn the in-game AA off, performance is solid, too. However they implemented AA, it's a performance killer for some reason.

So...3 good games don't interest you..?

What DOES interest you?

Based on the crapfest that was Far Cry 2, I don't know if I'd put Far Cry 3 in the "good" basket quite yet.

Second one was pretty junky, but this next one looks to be quite good. Who knows though, could be another turd in the making but we don't know it yet since all we get is the outer coating.

I wanted to give an update to the issue I and unfortunately many others have with jittery/stuttering gameplay: what ultimately fixed it for me was a BIOS update. Hard to believe it ended up being so simple. Tested on a fresh windows install to a new SSD - before AND after a new BIOS to confirm results.

Max settings (AA on High) > smooth 60fps no matter the time of day now - as it should be. Hope it helped at least one person out there fix the problem.

with new AMD CCC 12.10 Drivers got a nice performance boost

Same settings on a 2500K at 4.4 and a 670 just a bit above stock oc to keep fan/temps down.

average 75
max 99.9
min 52.

Been playing this a lot over the weekend. It runs smooth on my 680, although the game bogs down when driving at night. It seems to keep a pretty steady framerate, but the screen starts shaking in an odd way. I tried OC'ing my video card and tinkering with details and that doesn't seem to affect it.

As a game, I'm having a blast. It's closer to GTA San Andreas than 4 in that all of the mini-games are more fleshed out. The plot's nothing special, but the game mechanics are very well done.

Turn off the in-game AA. Use the Nvidia Control Panel and override the AA settings. I use 8xAA and 8xAF playing at 1200p. It never dips below 60fps for me.

I have AA totally disabled. It isn't the framerate - it's closer to a stutter, although I've tried both internal FPS limiter and the one in Afterburner.
I Googled it and it seems to be a common issue, even with people who have hefty hardware.

It has stuttering problems, especially when strafing or turning, but it also has a camera shake when driving at high speed (which was reduced in a patch). So it could be a combination of those things.

How do you turn off the in game aa? No setting for off is there? I thought lowest was normal.

Hopefully it's a patch to fix that weird stutter/shake of the camera...or at least offer a toggle :)
That's literally my only gripe. I've had a total blast so far. I'm hoping this game will serve as inspiration for GTA5.

Looks like the patch did improve performance while driving. The screen still shakes, but it's pronounced and looks a bit more "intentional" than before. Some motorbikes are borderline undrivable as a result, though.
I've noticed that some cars seem to give you a better FOV than others. Anyone know how that works or how to switch it? For instance, some cars, your screen is right up on their bumper, while others it's zoomed way out and driving in traffic is 100x easier.

Just a heads up, the Nightmare in Northpoint DLC released today for $4.99. Having played about an hour or so -- I'm liking the change of setting, story, powers. Asking price seems fair to me / hoping it adds an extra couple of hours at least.

Picked up the dlc the moment I saw it on Steam... too bad I don't have time to play it.

I'm still cruising through the main game and having a blast with it. It really is the "next-gen" GTA game I've been wanting. I think that literally the only thing it's missing is the over-the top humor from Rockstar. There are funny quips, but the game is 95% serious.
The recent patch definitely helped with some of the stuttering issues. They're clearly using some kind of artificial "shake" to the camera when going fast and when you have the super fast cars, the game isn't quite sure how to turn that effect off quickly enough. I kinda wish that just wasn't there, but it isn't a deal breaker.

The game and all DLC is 50% off @Gamersgate this weekend. Since the game is SteamWorks it doesn't matter where you get your DLC code from as you can add it to Steam.

Nice. Can anyone vouch for the DLC? The main game is pretty terrific, although a bit short. I was expecting a GTA kind of scale, but I ended up doing everything except finding all of the cases in only 15-20 hours. There are several plotlines that just seem to more or less disappear, which probably add to that feeling more.

Still, it was absolutely worth the $25 I spent on it.

DLC is fun and a different slant on everything. If you're a big fan of the game like I am you'll eat it up.

It's one of the best games of the year as far as I'm concerned. You won't be disappointed.

The main story has weirdly stopped for me. After the wedding, the game did a few more minor story bits and now it is just me running around doing drug busts and little shit side quests. the story just stopped more or less.

Go to your apartment and go to sleep. When you wake up I think you get a cellphone call or something. I can't remember. You sure there's nothing on the map?

If none of this works try the old "verify file integrity" and see what that does. Shouldn't be a glitch like that...

Hey guys, I started up Steam just now and it's performing a major update of Sleeping Dogs... A total of 4.5gb but I can't find any information on what's changed or anything for that matter. Any ideas?

Mine is doing the same update. Wonder what we're getting for Christmas?

*rubs hands together in anticipation*

I'm gonna have to load this up again and get in fights with everyone I see. I miss walking around and hearing all that ridiculous dialogue from the NPCs then throwing them off a balcony.

Best part imo.
