Galaxy Note 2, whose getting one?

I could point out numerous reviews and polls. Lacking facts much, Ryan?

Why is it that every time Samsung release a new product all these noobies start posting about it? Samsung shills?

Price seems to be dropping every week on eBay for unlocked units. Started around $740, now there are some for $679 shipped. Im patiently waiting to see what happens to pricing when the US units come out. If they get down to the $500-$550 range you can get a new S3 for, I might get one.

Do they have polls comparing the newest version of TouchWiz and Sense 4? Pretty much every review I've read favors the new TW UI over Sense 4. But either way, I would be surprised if recent polls showed a large delta between the two.

Considering getting an unlocked GN2 for US if/when available. Hoping I can move the sim from my work-issued iPhone4 over to it. Hoping that will work. Not sure if it will be stuck with 3G only or not though...

I'm probably getting one, being that it's probably the best android device on the market at the moment. I'm just kind of weary though of the SoC drivers not being released by Samsung, I'm very into custom ROM's and love myself some AOSP.

I have a Gnex now, and run a custom rom, bootloader, kernel, etc. But I really like the Note 2, and may actually get one if it comes to Verizon. I've read a lot about the Note 2, and it's all been good.

That article really made me want one. That guys loves AOSP as well, but says that Touchwiz is amazing on the Note 2. Now if Verizon would just release it...

I kind of want to switch from iOS to this, but I also don't want to hold a giant brick to the side of my head when I make calls. Decisions, decisions.

In the United States, the typical bricks are 8 × 4 × 2.25 inches. Based on your comment, you better stay with IOS. More in your ball park methinks.

Alot of people make a big deal out of the holding against their head, but most people I ask admit that now days actually talking to people with the phone is the smallest part of their use of the phone, its all the web browsing, note taking, GPS and everything else where the large screen really makes it much easier to use.

So one solution is just to buy a bluetooth ear piece for when you are actually talking to people.

The more pressing issue is the fact that app developers do all different things and with a large phone it is harder to one hand opperate since app developers are not all paying attention to the ergonomics.

In the end I find the bigger phones just get a ton more use out of me and it is worth the sacrifices.

Well tbh, it was not a comfort issue from most people I talked to, they just said they would look stupid to other people if they were holding a large phone near their head.

It's upgrade time for me. After using an iphone 4 for 2 years, it's time to say good bye and move on to something better. I'm having a hard time deciding if I should get the Note 2 now or wait for the J Butterfly. I'm also concern about the future. I don't want to use my contract renew and get the Note 2 and then 5 months down the road. Something good come out like the J Butterly made it to stateside. Either way my next phone will be (hopefully) awesome and can last more for another 2 years.

The J Butterfly is currently known in the USA as Verizon HTC Droid DLX.

Ah I see. I guess it's still a while off. So I guess I'll get the note 2 and then buy the unlocked version later if I desperately want it.

Three more days until Note 2 comes to Sprint! ($299 with a 2 year contract/renewal)

Now I'm torn between picking it up right away / waiting for a better deal on black Friday / waiting another 9 months for my Sprint contract to expire so I can go to the Verizon network.

Who cares what other people think. It's computer, not a phone - i.e. you'll use it for browsing, videos, and all sorts of other things, besides phone calls. If you are comfortable with the size then its a better smartphone in all respects.

I have a GS3 and the bigger size (from a Evo 4G, which was itself considered 'too big' when it came out :)) is a complete non issue, in fact I'd find it hard to go to something smaller (TWSS).

+1 to this, if you worry about how you will look using a phone, you have other issues to worry about lol

I wonder how long it will take for the note 2 to get android 4.2 which is going to be on the new nexus

About the same time it will take for the GS3 to get JB.

International - few months
ATT/Sprint - few more months
Verizon - a few years if we're lucky :)

I had to trim my sim down from a mini to a micro. The one spec I never look at and it kind of bit me in the ass. Now I have to buy a micro to mini adapter for the rare occasions when I go to my relatively small GSII. I liked the Note, I really like the Note II. I think I will skip the next one though.

If you live where AT&T has lte, I would go att. If no AT&T lte I would go Verizon. I want the version/model that can run on Verizon, att, or tmobile. I think I need a us unlocked model but not certain.

You wouldn't happen to know what the model number is for one that works on both HSDPA and LTE. I would be interested in that so I can keep vzw and still use my phone abroad

I am not exactly sure because I have not found my own answers yet but I believe we want the N7105 rather than the current 7100

As for the ? About the processor, it's been answered and is samsungs exynos

GN2 will hit AT&T stores on November 9 for $299.99. Preorders begin October 25th. Story here.

AT&T has just announced that the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the next big thing to come out of the South Korean electronics maker, will be available on blue carrier shelves starting November 9. Online pre-orders begin October 25, around the same time that the phone will be released on Sprint.

It’s no secret that all five major U.S. carriers will sell the second-generation Samsung phablet, but they seem to have their very own launch strategies. Thus far, Sprint and AT&T are the only carriers to throw out specific dates, while T-Mobile has merely said the phone will launch this “fall.”

(Though, recent reports seem to confirm a T-Mobile launch as soon as tomorrow.)

As far as pricing goes, there are no surprises here. Just like Sprint’s Galaxy Note II (and presumably every other on-contract version), AT&T will be selling the Samsung Galaxy Note II for $299.99 with a two-year agreement.

In the specs department, nothing has been updated from what we heard at the phone’s announcement at IFA in Berlin. We’re still looking at a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos proc, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel shooter, and last but not least, a brand new S-Pen stylus thingy.

The display weighs in just a tad larger than its predecessors’, at 5.5 inches of Super AMOLED awesomeness. And of course, this phone will be readily equipped with a 4G LTE radio to take advantage of AT&T’s new LTE network.

According to the release, AT&T is the only carrier dropping the price of the original Galaxy Note from $299 with-contract to $199.

Just need the unlocked version for the US.

I'd like to see the us unlocked version as well. I have att but not sure I want to stay. Verizon told me they will be the last to get it but it'll be here by thanksgiving or most likely mid Nov

Sadly being Exynos hardware the Note2 will probably get zero 3rd party ROM support. IIRC, XDA gave up on drivers for Exynos.

Buying a SN2 now seems pretty dumb to me when 5" 1080p screens with S4 Pro is launching soon.

It has less to do with resolution and more to do with functionality. My wife owns the Note 10.1 and loves the s-pen functionality. Sure, any capacitive stylus will work on any capacitive screen. But, does it have multiple pressure senaitivity levels? Does the device support multiple windows?

My wife is an avid Apple fangirl. Her choice of the Note over the iPad shocked the shit out of me. If HTC can build in this level of functionality then they have a winner. Without it, it's between content consumption and creation, which do you prefer?

I was mentioning Samsung bringing out their own device... Pretty sure, they'll have the S-Pen and whatever.

But if we're going to talk about the upcoming HTC Droid Incredible X Deluxe (Verizon), I don't think the S-Pen has even caught up to HTC Scribe. But whether the Scribe software is included in the Droid Incredible X Deluxe is unknown. At this point, I'm going to say no, because, if it did, there should be some hype already.

BTW, here's the rumor of the "HTC (new?) Hero" WP8 phone:

I'm sure there's a lively debate in there somewhere, but it would be pointless. I do not know what is superior between the Scribe and S-Pen and, to be honest, I don't really care. To me it's tool. I have a cheap Amazon capacitive stylus for my SGS2 for certain applications and it works.

What I was getting at was the functionality of the Note 10.1. It is truly unique and none of the HTC tablets with Scribe support currently does what the Note 10.1 does. Now, I don't know how much of this translates to the Note and Note II. But, if they offer even a sizeable amount of what the Note 10.1 can do, then the choice becomes "5.5" 720p screen with unique functionality vs 5" 1080p screen."

My point was that in your post, you came across as stating that anyone who would take the Note II over phones with 5" 1080p screens (like this HTC) is nothing more than a Samsung fanboy. I was merely illustrating that there are functional reasons why a person would choose one over the other.

Now, if that was not your point, then I apologize for misunderstanding. And FTR, I'd take the 1080p screen :)

"Launching soon"

Ha. VZW is the last carrier that hasnt announced that it's carrying the GN2. I hope to god they still will.

Also, a fun clip to rub in the face of iPhone users :p

"Can your iPhone do this?"

Seems unlikely now that we know they will have a 5 inch HTC competitor branded droid. Personally verizon people cannot complain they get most everything, I am just glad sprint finally has a decent phone.

I think Sprint gets decent phones, at least since the original Evo launched. This year they got an improved One X (Evo LTE w/ expandable storage) and the Galaxy S3 at about the same time they came out elsewhere. Verizon got a gimped One S (Inc 4G). They also have a nice QWERTY phone (Photon Q) that's better than the Droid 4. The only complaint I would have with them is that they get the Nexus phones about 6 months too late.

Man with the N2 coming out soon and 1080p res phones next year. I'm really debating if I should wait for the extra pixels. Is it worth it?

If you're referring to Sprint, I wouldn't even count on them getting a Nexus this time. Google seems to be happy selling them unlocked and in small numbers. Sprint seemed ok to stay out of Google's way with the Nexus S, but with the Galaxy Nexus Sprint essentially acted like Verizon. Google has gone on record saying they're not happy with the CDMA Nexus phones.

In my pure speculation, Sprint and Verizon won't see another Nexus until they're able and willing to allow unlocked LTE handsets on their networks.
