Newegg has the Diamond HD 7970 for $311.99 after 20% off coupon code HARDOCPX926B (ends 10/1) and a $20 MIR plus FS. Never seen a 7970 this low before. If I didn't have a HD 7950 I would of jumped all over this!

Price Breakdown:
$414.99 (Original Price) - $83 (20% Coupon) - $20 (MIR) = $311.99

I'm really tempted... But I have bought Nvidia for the past 6 years or so... my gtx 460 is showing its age w/ Borderlands 2

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... THANK YOU!
just bought one. Glad to be a part of this historic event.

What's the catch here? Was saving up for a 670 4gb because. I'm a mod freak, but this seems too good to pass up.

Can you also get Sleeping dogs with this deal? Only showing dirt3 with newegg... SDogs an AMD promo?

Is there that big of a difference between the two?

Look at my 7970 "non-GHz" Edition. ;)

If you're curious about the differences.

Reference BIOS Flash FTW!

I've been rocking the hell out of BL2 on them and they are solid with the GHz BIOS with tons of hours played. :)

What use does the HD7970 offer for that high of a price? Just curious because PC games have been lacking lately and graphic's haven't gotten much or any better than where they were 5 years ago.

I haven't seen a 7970 that can't OC to the GHz clocks. Some have flashed the ghz bios to their reference cards with success, some can't. I heard from one guy that the flash took fine, but then any overclocking was crap thereafter, so he went back to the regular bios.

I have 2 reference cards that overclock nicely, so no need for a ghz bios even :)

Games like BF3 at 2560.1440/1600 on a low end card suck. You need beefy card to run them in full glory.

HMMMM Should I get one to Xfire with my Sapphire 7970? decisions decisions!

Hot as hell, that's all I have to say, too bad I don't have the cash or the need atm(am targeting something more in the ~200 dollar 7870 range).

Pulled the trigger. After using AMD/ATI my entire life, I wanted to go with an nvidia gpu this time to compliment my Intel chipset, but I just couldn't resist. Never been a fan of reference coolers, hopefully the sound won't drive me apeshit, but a headset is always an option and the reference design will make CF in the future a very tempting option.

Thanks [H] for posting this sizzling deal! :D

Thanks Mike! Looking good. Just ordered 1 after looking at the 670 specs and benchmarks. Was going to buy a 680 but this works just as well and over a $100 cheaper.

BAM!

It's now moved over to my NZXT Phantom. CrossFire 7970's FTW :)

I did like my Lian Li, but it was too small for this stuff. Well it fit, but it was s tight fit. Not a lot of breathing room.

You need a 7970... or two!

Saw this deal last night, ordered on Amazon...then cancelled it.
Have been wanting to switch to nvidia for a while (i had 5870's and 6870's) so I looked for best equivalent.
Ordered the 660 TI 3gb on Amazon...then had buyers remorse and cancelled it.
Then remembered Bitcoining (used to mine on my 5870) and saw how well the 7970's do...so I ordered 2 through Newegg (free game plus faster shipping) for some xfire/bitmining goodness

Lot's of impulse order confirmations and order cancellations haha. But these 7970's should pay for themselves in a few months! Anyone want a pair of 1gb 6870's w/boxes? ;)

Probably not. The first ASIC mining units are supposed to be shipping within a month, and then GPU mining will no longer be profitable.

I'd be willing to purchase 1 HD6870 off of you haha.

So whats the consensus on the Ghz bios, is it worth it with the reference cooler, or can I squeeze more out of it with less decibels on stock voltage and oc software?

Either way, however I'm running the GHz bios on the stock coolers. Make sure your case has ample airflow.

You'll get more out of it with OC software. The voltage (and therefore power) increase isn't warranted for the minor speed boost, and you can get more efficient settings tweaking it yourself.

This is a good price, you might want to wait if you do more intricate things like run HTPCs, older CRT monitors etc.. AMD drivers are not as good as nVidia, but for a pure gaming configuration on a single monitor this hits a very good price for performance.

Why do you have both crossfire cables connected?
Does it matter?

I'm not sure bitmining is viable without using FPGA based approaches anymore...not sure this would be hot for mining specifically..

You technically only need one as far as I understand, but I stick them both on there because it doesn't hurt. Or at least it has never caused me any trouble.

Was looking into a 660, but I jumped on this the second I found it. I'm coming from an 8800gts 320mb @1080res

Never mind multi display setups...

I was tempted to pick up two of these as an upgrade from my 6950's... But I figured I should probably wait for next gen cards at the end of the year or early next year. AC:AR seems like a sweet throw in tho, could probably flip it for another $30 too if you don't care for for it (or you'd get two as I would). I've also been wanting to try out green next, adaptive vsync in particular. Even PhysX seems like less of a gimmick than it used to be (if only a little).
