Borderlands 2 Reset Bug Kills Your Badass Rank

To my knowledge nobody playing PC has had this problem. I don't know many BL2 Xbox players, but at least one I know mentioned something like this happening.

The PC issue many were having was with connecting to other player's games. That was supposedly fixed in a patch this morning.
 
This hasn't happened to me. But i have been spending a bit of time in the technical issues part bl2 forums, and this bug seems to be happening when the game crashes and totally or partially corrupts the game save. I believe that you could edit your save file and give yourself back the tokens and baddass ranks that you lost, if you wanted to.
 
I am playing single player mode, bought the hard copy one week pre-release, activated it and then shifted to "offline" mode on Steam...........

not a problem since.
 
I respec'ed my Gunzerker last night and didn't have any issues with my Badass rank.

I have been having connection issues though. Good to hear there's a patch; I'll have to try it out after work.

Ought to be interesting. My gf and I plan LAN together and she gets randomly bumped from our game every so often. She can usually jump back in but it's still annoying.
 
Not having that problem on PC.

BUT, has anyone noticed that alt-tabbing out of the game and coming back end just kills it? Turns into a 1 fps slideshow until I kill the task and restart it. I am running fullscreen so maybe playing in a window might act differently, not sure.

I did have one crash the other night which pissed me off as I had just cleared a mission and was on my way back to turn it in for credit and the game crashed right to desktop and I lost my progress. Hasn't happened since.
 
Thankfully, no. Though I have heard of Steam cloud errors and having progress reverted back. Hopefully they get it ironed out soon.
 
He should be more worried about fixing his computer. The graphics on his game are so shitty.
 
My game has been running great, only problems I had with the first game related to network and internet play, but managed to get that worked out. Haven't had time to test that aspect out yet on this one though.

I alt-tab a lot, and have not seen that yet, but have gotten it to hang.

I think my game problems have been fixed since I've forced my AMD 6950's fan speed to 70%, instead of stock. BL2=incinderary bonus
 
Meh, just a meaningless ranking. Get a gripe. Its a game, just have fun.

It's also how the game doles out minor bonuses as you progress. Every so many Badass ranks gets you a small (<1%) boost to a stat for all of your characters.
 
That's an irritating bug too!.... sorry console users.

I haven't had a chance to play it on a 360 yet but those textures look horrible in this video :eek:

it isn't a HUGE leap over BL1, not really much of a change at all really. I didn't know until my game crashed that is was DX9 only.
 
A very similar bug wiped out my gun proficiencies (I forget the term that was used) in the first Borderlands on Xbox 360. Pissed me off enough that I bought it on PC instead!

It is unfortunate to see the same problem affecting Borderlands 2.

ALT tabbing definitely is not working well in this game. I don\t exactly get a slide show, but there is a substantial performance loss that comes with doing this. Same with BL1. No crashes so far.
 
For the people with alt-tab issues, you can change the video mode to "fullscreen windowed", it looks exactly the same as fullscreen but fixes a few problems, like alt-tab crashing and the resolution messing up on a 2nd monitor.
the only downside is that you have to run the game at the same resolution as your desktop (native resolution), which wasn't a problem for me.
 
I haven't had a single problem with BL2 with 50+hours on it so far. I feel so lucky every time I read through these threads. 60 fps, no drops in heavy combat, not one crash, alt tab is ultra fast - I actually was thinking about this before I knew there was a bug that it minimizes better than any other game I have.
 
If you are playing the PC version just make sure to never allow the Steam cloud save to overwrite your local save. For some weird reason i've been prompted at least twice that my local/cloud saves were different, even though I watched it sync properly. If you allow the cloud save to overwrite then you're just falling back.
 
Darnit..I was looking forward to buying this game but now that I see it has ranking bullshit, I will pass on it.

that's just an ignorant comment. if you were actually interested in buying the game. you would have done a little research and learned about the "badass ranking system." which basically just gives you stat bonuses as you go through the game. i hit rank 5000 yesterday which basically equates to a 5-6% stat buff to most of your stats and i had never actually looked at what the goals were.

back on topic i have seen a few posts in the pc technical issues section of gearbox's bl2 forum that are talking about this issue. so it appears that it is happening to the pc side as well.
 
The only bug I found was at level 30 there's a combination of 2 weapons that allows you to do 500K+ damage in Gunzerker mode.

That's got to be a product targeting little boys so they have some "awesome new word blends" to say at school to their friends. Instead of engaging super pursuit mode when they run across the playground, they turn on gunzerker mode and "budda! budda! budda! choooom...KABOOM" their way through girls playing house next to the basketball court.

Had this happen to me on PC. UPS faulted while I was playing, causing the computer to shut off. When I reloaded the game, I still had Challenges completed, but no Bonus Stats. Thankfully I was only level 9, so it wasn't a big deal to start over. I'd hate to have that happen to me later in the game, though.

Meh, anyone who has played Borderlands knows that the game does not take itself seriously and it is well aware of the fact that it is a game.

This.

BL1 they kinda stuck their toe in the ridiculous pool and went "ehhhhh?" with the ridiculous shit. BL2 they did a bellyflop while flipping everyone off yelling "BADASSSSSS!" once they realized everyone loved it. I remember BL1 was just scags, and bandits everywhere! Now with a bigger budget they added so many more creatures/enemies.

It really is the ridiculousness of the game that makes it, otherwise it would just be a knockoff of Fallout. Ive never finished a fallout game, whereas I finished BL1, kept playing a second play through, and preordered BL2, because it kept me much more entertained.
