I meant just what I said....the PS3 coming in 2nd - 3rd (in a three man race) for 20 months straight is having your "butt kicked." I knew I should have went with "sucking hind tit." :D

Feelings hurt? Call Sony and have them get a little more competitive, come in first once in a while.. ;)
 
Last pic is a bit large... :)

Loved the first Genesis model. I loved how it looked with the Gen.1 Sega CD. Still have all my Sega's. Even have a more recent "remake" with the built in games (tiny little thing that looks like Mini Me version of the model 1 Genesis).

I want a PS3, but only for a few games. So, until I can grab one for a c-note, I'll pass. Probably get one when PS4 lands.

The redesign is probably not only for the public image, but also to cut costs on manufacturing and increase profits. I like the new look, but I'm still not ready to buy into the PS3. Good machine, but I can't justify the cost for the few games that are exclusive to it that I'd play.

You know which one was the best? The original, much like the PS3. Sure it took more space, but it looked the best and had volume control for stereo headphones, and a plethora of hookups to make anyone's home theater complete. The Genesis 2 lost volume control, and Genesis 3 lost it's ability to hook up to a Sega CD.

I feel the same way about the PS3, which the original had PS2 compatibility. I have a couple of PS2's in my home, but they're in boxes, and would like to keep it like that. My TV is already cluster fucked with Xbox 360, HTPC, and a PS3.

PS3 is getting it's butt kicked. Not as bad as Nintendo lately, but still getting whooped.

Hey, someone has to give my mommy a reason to have a home with a basement. ;) Anyhow, if a PS3 makes me feel 20% lighter, that'd be like losing 4 lbs for free!

Arguably, they still are in 1st with the PS2. ::shrug:: It's freakin' still selling. :eek:

Considering the alarming failure rate of the Xbox 360 and the fact that the original did not have HDMI so many people re-bought the console because of either of those facts are a good way of padding your sales numbers.

Same can be said for YYOD or bad BR drive PS3's i own both and have seen both die.

Ditto. It's great and annoying all at the same time. Throw a PC into the mix and...

I had a PS3... for a week. I hated that you couldn't install games like you can on a 360. The disc noise was annoying as hell. Every time I would turn around in RDR or Deadspace I would hear "CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK".

You should have taken it back in for another one. Mine (80gb original shell) is dead quiet. Had it for 4 years now.

360 had a failure rating of 54% compared to PS3's 10% which is about the same for the Wii. Sorry for your luck and I wouldn't recommend going to Vegas. I went through three 360s but still have my fat 80GB PS3

You should have taken it back. Everyone one of the 360s I've own (3 total) have been like a jet engine compared to my fat PS3.

FYI, the install feature isn't that old on 360. Some games do let you install on PS3 you just might have to manually go to options menu to do it. That just depends on the game.
 
Looks sleek. I might pick one up when I can get one secondhand since I don't have any of the 7th generation consoles.

I have had both since launch both my launch 360 and ps3 had issues but BOTH of there replacements are still running. My fat ps3 is still going. 360 I bought a slim wont do that with the ps3 because the new one are not back compatible.
 
Perhaps they'll add back in PS2 backwards compatibility! ;)

Depending on the price this new PS3 might just be a popular blu-ray player (I mean more popular than before, depending on the affordability).
 
The funny part about all the "fanboy" stuff is that we don't play favorites. It may hurt people's feeling when it is their favorite company is getting kicked in the nuts but we are equal opportunity offenders here.

We own (and use on a daily basis) AMD systems and Intel systems, GeForce and Radeon, PS3s, Xbox, Wii...so on and so forth. I have all three console on my desk at this very moment, so lighten up...everything will be okay.

Every person i know that has both has had to replace or repair BOTH Microsoft just got way more bad press!

Precisely. Sony did this with PS1/2 when the newer console was out to get the value gamers. By the time PS4 is out, PS3 redesign will drop to 149-$99. I suspect by then it will be released without a harddrive and have 32-64GB of flash onboard.

Sony is just getting ahead of the game and keeping the manufacturing costs down ahead of the PS4 launch to get these value gamers. In the meantime, they make more money on each unit sold since the cost/# of parts goes down while its a current gen system.

I saw it somewhere but can't find it now but the current slim is half the power use of the fat ps3's and this new one is even lower and of course it looks like they killed off the front load vacuum blu-ray drive
 
How about Sony put time, money, thought into securing its network rather than a mediocre update to an old system?
 
If they want to boost sales of these things, re-add backwards compatibility. How much can that chip cost nowadays?

Same can be said for 360. Its a matter of $ plain and simple. They want you to buy PS3 games not PS2 games. BC is included early on to pacify diehards who will buy it day one. Once those are satisfied, BC gets dropped and more PS3 games are sold. Remember how coy MS was about BC? Where are my BC updates now? No where because those complaints have waned and they can stop worrying about that outdated segment and focus resources to current/next gen development.

Sony,MS,Nintendo are not in the business to convenience you but to get as much money out of you as possible. :D

That response was sarcastic hence the ;) Security and network infrastructure takes money to maintain. No one is 100% secure and if you think otherwise you are a fool. At least with MS they were being more transparent than Sony and not to mention response time to resolution end was quicker.

The money you pay for Live also goes toward player enforcement (wall hacks/ glitching/ latency hack, etc). People less likely to d*ck around when they got $50 a year versus $0 on the line :D
 
Sony should call it the "PS3 Slimmer".

I'm looking forward to Wii U owning PS3. :cool:
