Want to know what others in the tech industry are making? Which regions of the country pay the most? The least? This tool might come in handy then.

Yeah look at "regions" they basically surveyed a handful of companies in very large cities. SoCal, New England and such, no wonder they makes 3-4 times what a normal salary would be.

Based on pay and other benefits, marketing and sales are clearly more important than the products themselves. Anyone surprised?

I wish I made even close to what it says I should. Considering I make half of what the low end is listed at. These things are always laughable.

Looks like I need a pay raise! I am right at the bottom of the area for my job. You have to wonder how large the sample size is for these tools. It seems rather small, as I can't choose any regions once I select the job and level.

Yup, tool is an absolute joke. I've found it far more useful to pay attention to Glassdoor, Salary.com, and university salary surveys where they get feedback from graduates about how much they were offered post-graduation (hint: if you're offered less than average new-grad salary its a rip off).

I'm actually a little surprised to see people jumping at the opportunity to work at startups. The risk for a pink slip seems higher, the pay maybe not as good, and don't get me started on ownership shares or other profit sharing schemes as part of the compensation package.

But then again I'm not some fancy new undergraduate just getting out of their senior year that is looking for some hot new deal that might be the next Facebook :p.

Funny, my salary matches what the calculator is telling me....

*trollface*
