Just got a new disk for a PS3 game. Old disk got damaged. I want to load my old save games from the last game disk so I can keep going where I left off. Any way to do this?

Why can't I load my last save game files with the new disk so I can start where I left off????

What game is giving you trouble? This should work and has worked for me.

Game saves stored on the system's hard drive, so unless you deleted them they should still be there waiting for you.

I don't mean to troll or insult my brother [H] user, but how is it possible that you did not know that save games were not stored on the game disk but rather on the internal hard drive? Storing game saves on the game itself... that hasn't been happening since they phased out cartridge-based games.

Just put in the new disk, and you should be able to continue from where you left off before your disk got damaged (unless you went into the Save Data folder on the PS3 and deleted it yourself). If still not working, then it's possible the save file is corrupt in some way.

Thanks for the responses guys. I do have my game saves on the hard drive - visible in the save game data folder.

I also assumed that since they were stored on the drive there should be no problem detecting them and loading them up - but for some reason the new disk installs duplicate game data and when running shows no save games available to load.

I can see my old saves on the system as well as 2 copies of the game data on the drive.

The game is Deus Ex: HR. Kinda puzzled that when the new disk was inserted it didn't just load my old data and my old saves right away...

DId you figure it out yet? If not, then put your old saves onto a thumb drive, delete all your old stuff, and then copy your saves back onto your system.

Thanks all - unfortunately no dice. I'll start playing again - guess I will just try to play a different way this time around...
