I have started getting bored with my Noka N900 and looking for an upgrade. 3 devices that tempted me the most are...

1) iPhone 5
I was never a fan of iPhone untill I saw one of my colleague who purchased one. Some of the things that I admire and dislike about this device are..

Pros:
a) Design Factor: Very good build quality with stainless steel body
b) Retina Display: I like the fact that despite having mere 4 inch screen. It has massive 1136 X 660 resolution
c) IOS User Interface: I always prefer true multi tasking multi-tasking OS (like meego) don't know how good the lastest IOS supports true multi-tasking. However, after purchasing an iPad 2 for dad, I am tempted with the UI of IOS
d) Siri: Something that I admire the most about iPhone 4S.

Cons:
a) Screen Size: I always love big screens therefore one big reason i dislike iPhone is its mere 4 inch small screen. I prefer screen size greater than 4 inch.
b) Sharing Files: Apple has always imposed restrictions on sharing files using bluetooth or USB, something that I always dislike.

2) Lumia 920
I've been noticing promising Lumia 900 with latest WP operating system. It looks beautiful (specially the white glossy variant). Some of the features that I like and dislike about this device are..

Pros:
a) Design Factor: I like the design factor and build quality. But don't know how good polycarbonate alloy is comared to steel (in iPhone)
b) Screen: Its 4.5 inch screen size and super sensitive touch in which you can use nails and gloves is definately better than iPhone 5
c) Windows Phone: Windows Mobile 6.5 was somegthing I always considered crappy. But after reading about the newly redesigned Windows Phone 8, it looks promising. But don't know how good it is in multi-tasking and since this is a new mobile OS so don't know how much matured it is compared to IOS
d) Camera: I think Lumia 920 has the best camera after seeing numerous videos

Cons:
a) Windows Market Place: Compared to app store i am not sure how much the windows market is matured in terms of number of applications

3) LG Optimus G Lightening:
I've read Optimus G to be the fastest and most powerful smartphone in the world with top end specs. The only 2 things that I dislike about Optimus G are

Pros:
a) CPU / GPU: Fastest quad core and the most powerful GPU ever experienced in a mobie device.
b) Design: Unlike samsung it didn't use cheap plastic but permiumed material thats ceramic.
c) Camera: Not much know about the camera and its sensor but 13MP camera with unique sensors that took 15 months to develop such thing.

Cons:
a) Android: I have 2 Galaxy S2s in my family. One has ICE and one old gingerbread.
honestly the UI of Android looks ugly compared to WP8 and even IOS and the android is buggy every day I have to go to task manager and clear memory in order reduce some load on battery.

b) LG Service: Don't know if LG will provide the kind of support Apple and Nokia does.

So post your openions on these 3 top end devices and cast your votes on it.

I like my Evo 4g LTE. I ran Quadrant on it, and my roommate, who is in phone sales, said that it scored higher than any phone he had yet tested (like 3600 I think)

Of them, the LG, or the Nokia ... but the issue is you dont have any good Android manuf. there, LG is not known [typically] as having good quality ..... i'd suggest the Galaxy S3..

Out of those 3 options I'd take the Lumia. Put a quality android phone in there and it might be a different story

The optimus is too big! Great specs, wish they had it in a form factor like the S3. I think the RAZR MAXX HD might be worth looking into.

I'll be jumping ship from my 4S very soon

What all more options do you need. Its ideal

Are you cereal..?! I would never put an LG phone in a lineup of a "battle giant smartphones" (lol).

The "battle" won't start until this holiday season when the next Nexus, Razr HD Maxx and the new 1080p HTC Note-competitor is out. I expect the Nexus announcement in October. The Nexus One was in January 2010, Nexus S December 2010 and Gnex was in November 2011. So following that trend, I think we'll see the next Nexus in October or November at the latest.

Regardless though, the iPhone 5 is going to exponentially out-sell everything, it's just the way it is still. The only question is "will it break last years records?" (my guess is yes).

Where is the GS3?

That was my thought. S3 was really well thought out. There is more to phones than GHZ/Cores.

This line of thought is where we have people asking how to max out their FPS on their dell.

I know LG is not in the league of top end smartphones. But figures speaks itself. The high end specifications on Optimus G way higher than Galaxy S3 incouding the amazing camera. I am not too much into opitics but they are using a very good sensor from sony in their camera.

I thought Optimus having 4.7 inch screen compared to 4.8 inch of GS3 is bit smaller than GS3. I will add GS3 into this poll

LG phone's are typically not very good, regardless of having the omgwtfbbq specs. The galaxy s3 is honestly still going to be the better phone

i'll agree with this. Most android phones are crap simply because of the crap the maker/carrier puts on them. After owning a galaxy nexus, I couldn't do a phone that doesn't allow or is difficult to put custom roms on.

I myself agree on this that LG don't produce good smartphones untill I read the specs of LG Optimus G. Other Optimus Series are behind Galaxy S series.

PS: Moderator can you add 2 more polls for 1) Galaxy Note-2 and Galaxy S3? As I don't have this option of modifying the polls

If you want top giant smartphone, don't forget about Note 2 or, if you want WP 8 phone, then Samsung Ativ.

Right now, my money would be on Ativ S... with the S-Cloud coming and ability to exchange data between Samsung devices in cloud, it would be better choice IMO then Lumia. Besides, I prefer Samsung to Nokia as phone manufacturer.

Until the GS3 is added to the poll... I'll have to be the voice of descent here and say iPhone :(

Never been a fan of LG's phones, and I haven't heard anything on this phone actually coming to the US.

The Note2 is just too big for a phone. I've held and looked at the Note and could never see myself talking on it in public. Via bluetooth, yeah, but everyone seems to frown and bitch about people talking through a store "talking to themselves" on a bluetooth device. Public opinion seems to be that bluetooth should only be used in a car or something...

Heck no on Windows Phone. Been burned too many times before with Windows Mobile to trust a mobile OS from Microsoft until it has been in the field a couple generations and proven that Microsoft and developers will fully support it.

Your research is really lacking, I think. One of your failure points is "Android being ugly." You need to look into any HTC phone, preferably the HTC One X. Their Sense overlay is rated the #1 interface for Android phones and even if you get a non HTC phone you can do a ton of customizing to get it to look exactly how you want.

I have the Galaxy S3 and while I hated TouchWiz, the latest version is pretty good and I've switched the stock-home screen to something else which is fully customizable with widget sizing, row/column sizes, icon placement, fluidity, etc. And while Samsung is still using a plastic body, you need to actually hold the S3 to realize it doesn't feel like plastic. It's very, very solid and firm. Yes, I love my S3, but you've done very little research into the Android choices.

I maintain though, that even though the specs are good, the phone wont be, LG phones historically have had plenty of issues not related to the specs not being up to snuff.

As for adding the poll, might want to report the OP and ask for it to be added, i'm not sure if a Mod will see your post there.

Few corrections for you. ;)

1)
a) Aluminum, not Steel
b) 4" not 3.5"; 1136x640, not 1156x660

2)
a) Polycarbonate is a fancy name for plastic. All that means is it survives drops a lot better than metal and glass, but yes can feel (and look) cheap.
b) Actually has a higher res screen than iP5 (1280x768)
c) WP7 is god damn sexy. WP8 is.... alright, the removal of the negative space on the home-screen is kinda crappy.

3)
b) Ceramic is more prone to break than plastic if dropped.
Cons a) Really? I can see gingerbread being labeled ugly (it is), but ICS and JB? Sex on a phone!

If GS3's going up, might as well add the One X. And Evo 4G LTE while you're at it.

Will be even notice much of a difference between a 720p phone and a 1080p phone? I mean if our retinas can only see pixels at less than 300ppi then what difference does that really make when it comes to a phone?

im actually gonna preemptively sell my galaxy s3 in anticipation of the next nexus in november....

so yea, the real battle will not commence for a few more months....

You are missing the #1 smartphone of the 2012. The Nexus 5.0 due out November 5th. It won't be the biggest seller of 2012 by no means, but hands down the best smartphone released this year. I think the international One X is a very nice phone currently, with a 4.1 JB ROM is it a sweet phone.

I didn't see much news about Nexus 5. No rumors or blogs lately. I don't even know its specifications.

I don't dislike the UI of Android. I have 2 Galaxy S2s in my family and I've seen its UI is bit similar to iPhone. Although the lack of 3D icons makes it looks bit dull.

On the other hand WP 7 & 8 have a beautiful UI its a whole new concept. Windows Mobile 6.5 was an old peace of junk. Even Steve Woz commented on Windows Phone UI to be beautiful and he stated that android looks ugly compared Windows. I don't consider Android ugly but after comparing it with 3D looks of iOS and unique UI of Windows it looks bit dull to me

It's supposed to be a Note competitor, so 5.5" display at least. If it's 5.5" at 1080p, that's about 400ppi on the dot. I'm not sure if it's noticeable or not, but I'm sure it will be amazing IQ at least. I just hope the hardware can drive that resolution smoothly.

For me it has to be the Nokia Lumia 920. I have had the Nokia Lumia 800 for nearly a year now and at the time I was coming from my trusted Blackberry Bold. I thought I was taking a gamble at first despite liking what I saw when it was demoed for me in a store, but ever since the first initial update to fix the battery life issues, the phone has been the best thing I've ever used. The OS is just so damn slick and fast. I compared it to my friends HTC Sense when that first came out and it was very obvious that my phone was faster at multitasking, better at streaming videos from youtube (even in 720p over 3g), and had a way better screen. He couldn't stop commenting on how beautiful the screen was.

Anyway, the Lumia 800 has been amazing and Nokia keeps coming out with new software to take advantage of the phone in new and unique ways. However, one thing I don't understand is why people constantly complain about the number of apps on the phone. Apparently the Iphone has over 700,000 apps and the Windows Phone has a bit over 150,000. But to be honest I have been able to find everything I have ever needed in the Windows Marketplace and new apps are constantly showing up all the time. Moreover, most of the apps that are free are actually very good so I wonder if most of the 700,000 apps on the Iphone are just pure trash because when comparing key apps across phones that everyone uses, they are all there.

I'm really looking forward to the Nokia Lumia 920 because if there are two things that my 800 need it is a bigger screen with a higher resolution and more storage space on the phone. The extra features that come with the new 920 and Windows Phone 8 are just a plus and I can't wait to get one.

Oh yeah, and the polycarbonate shell is very well made and is very difficult to scratch or nick. In addition, the gorilla glass they use on the phone is impossible to scratch. I've yet to be able to scratch it on accident from the time I've used it.

And that would explain why a lumia survived a 2 story fall . Does its thickness really bothers??

It doesn't feel thick at all. I have a bulky leather cover on it nowadays but when used without a cover or the rubber form fitting one that comes with the phone, I wouldn't say it is thick at all. It's much thinner than an Iphone 4 or at least feels it.

Being thin does not make the phone better. The actual shape is more important. At least N9 feels great in hand.

I for one am not afraid of the Note 2's size. I currently have a Droid X and have measured the Note 2 and it is uncannily about the exact same size as my HP 32SII Scientific calculator HP 32SII which I hold pretty much every day at work for some amount of time. So I don't think it will look to big to me. My wife has the SIII and I like the bigger screen but something about it makes me a little hesitant about jumping to it. If I don't go with the Note 2 I will probably grab the Razr HD Maxx. But my first choice is still the Note 2 until I can really hold one and test it out.

Poll needs to be reset now. Half of them were already in before the Note 2 and GS3 were added. Now we cannot change our votes. I guarantee the GS3 would be winning if it was on there in the first place.

I have owned almost every platform and love my Luina 900. The marketplace is not as bad as everyone says. The only apps I have not been able to find is taptalk and mp3 app by amazon. I won't comment on it to much because WP8 is right around the corner but I am looking foward to upgrade to a 920.

My smart phone history.

Blackberry Storm - Worst phone ever
iPhone 3GS - Great phone was even better after I jailbroke it.
Atrix 4G - Awsome phone, loved how much I can customize. Was buggy at times even after a factory reset.
Lumina 900

My wife and I were at the AT&T store last night to look and feel the SGS3, but she couldn't take her eyes off of the Note. Since she has to wait for possibly for a month until the unlocked iPhone 5 is released, I think she is really considering the Note 2 because it's a big ass screen and she watches a lot of videos on her 3.5 inch screen.
