Just started using this program and have been impressed with the MKV format. However, about a day or two ago I go to the site and it appears to have been taken down. Anyone heard any info on this?

Nope, just that they may have forgotten to pay the hosting bill or something.

Is this a joke? There is better tools to make MKV already out. And free.

There are? Please, tell me what and where. I put a DVD in, start MakeMKV. Click a couple buttons, and I have a perfect MKV copy of the movie. What could possibly be better than that?

You can use handbrake for instance. Then use mkvtoolnix to mux the files into a mkv if you want to only deal with that format. Muxing takes seconds since all it's doing is replacing the container.

edit: didn't realize the program broke encryption. You could go with anydvd and still use handbrake however

So use multiple programs instead of one. How is that easier? Also, wouldn't using Handbrake result in a quality loss?

It's back up and running. Guess it was just a forgot-to-pay-the-hosting-bill kind of thing.
