The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

I actually handled the vehicles in Borderlands with little problem. It's funky to get used to, but after a couple tries, I was rallying those things hard. They just need to be upgradable. Spamming rockets at level 50 doing 10 dmg each time is silly.

Agreed.

Yes!

I think they did that because people where lobbing rockets over to camps and other open areas to "soften them up" then coming in to pick off the named boss. It trivialised content. Personally I remember riding around running crap over and actually getting bored at the easy kills. I believe running mobs over is not a one shot kill anymore in this game.

Quick, dumb question: Is there any way I can recover my Steam password without resetting it?

I'm not sure but I honestly doubt they can send you your password as its encrypted. You will have to reset it.

I'd email steam. I totally couldn't figure mine out. They sent me a ticket #. I had to write it in black marker above a physical CD key of a game in my library. If I hadn't bought a game outside of steam i'd be screwed lol. It matched so they sent it to me. Was pretty sweet service.

Looks like a winner!

Who would have thought Gearbox could come through on their promise not to half arse the PC version!? Also so glad they're using steamworks for co-op rather than shitty gamespy!

The Gearbox guys are pretty cool.

I loved part one and I know I'm going to love this at least as much if not more which absolutely does not bode well for ANY free time I might have. ;)

Yep.. same here. I already warned my wife. I put over 100 hours into the first one, and this should be no different.

With the game release getting close I wanted to make sure people saw this thread for the HardOCP Steam group. We got 11 so far but it would be awesome to have more folks! Join up!

i joined the group :)

excited for this game. the first one was cool but i found it riddled with problems and the lack of story driven content bugged me a bit.

i am excited for more story, better gameplay, better visuals, better classes. all around this game looks solid. plus i bought somebodies coupon on H for 35$. what a steal

Nice - loving the options menu. While usually not a big deal, the addition of a framerate limiter is also cool since some games can stutter without one.

I'm totally psyched about this game!

can't wait for this game. I upgrade my Monitor to 120hz and video card to 680GTX just for this game and I know it's overkill, but want to run this as smooth as possible :) I alos joined the HardOCP group

Anyone know if they're adding better tooltips for the PC? or is it going to be the same list-style with compare button?

Gear comparison was such a bitch in that game.

A single 680 isn't really overkill for 1080p. Plus, then you can use the fancy PhysX stuff. :D

i need to pre-order in the hopes they do they normal pre-load so that my slow 3.7mb/down DSL can have a week or so to download it before opening day...

hoping my SLI 480s can max it at 1680x1050

pretty sure he was saying its overkill for this game, since a 660ti plays it at 80fps @ 1080p max settings.

Just do what I do. Told my wife I preordered it and she wanted to know where her copy was :D

Going on tonight after work and hoping the GMG sale is still going for $37.50 to score another key for her.

I've been wanting to get another pre-order but I can't even pull the GF away from Skyrim long enough to try the first Borderlands, so I don't want to waste ~$40 if she won't play it. Dilemma... :(

That surprises me to... have a feelign it will be a timed exclusive open to other with the season pass later

my borderlands 2 code is from a nvidia promo and when i typed it into STEAM it shows as borderlands pre order so assume it gets benefits of pre order

Does anyone know for sure if the GMG prepurchase counts towards the benefits the preorder gets? A couple of people posted that it did in the Hotdeals section but I never looked any further into it.

Statements are right up my alley.

I logged over 400 hours in the first one, and that had half the content of Borderlands 2 all around. The aesthetics of the game were fantastic... the visual style, the music, the feel of the gameplay... it was addictive, and it kept me going back for more even though it wasn't as fleshed-out as it could have been.

Luckily, however, I don't have to warn my wife, as she's an avid PC gamer and Borderlands freak herself, just as I am, so at least we can waste our lives together when Borderlands 2 is released.

In Borderlands 2, the skills/skill trees look excellent, far more in-depth and creative. The environments and stylized visuals in general look outstanding and the many varied creatures, varied environments, gameplay mechanics and general intensity level of the game are all dialed-up to eleven.

It would seem they really pushed the limits of the aesthetics, visuals and gameplay with/in the Borderlands style and world.

Without a doubt, will become one of my favorite games of all-time, as the first one already has, but Borderlands 2 will take that throne by far.

In terms of PhysX, it seems that they've actually made huge use of it with all of the effects/particle effects, cloth etc. I cant personally remember seeing any game implement it quite as much as what I've seen in that video in terms of that many varied effects.

Those not running nVidia are almost "missing half the game" due to the very large difference it makes with just how much they've implemented PhysX for effects, which really adds to the immersion and general enjoyment and visceral feel of the game. Makes it far more enjoyable and satisfying.

Serious props to Gearbox for all they've apparently put into Borderlands 2, they really seemed to have gone all-out.

I bought two copies, one for a friend and one for myself. Pretty stoked.
