Fractal Design Core 3000 ATX Mid Tower Computer Case w/ 3 Fans | $40

Some of the reviews knock it for bad quality control (warped and bent areas), and it only comes with one fan. Seems like after you buy 3 or 4 more fans and maybe dust filters for all you've easily added another $50.

LOL not to crap on this deal. Reviews tend to be whiny my guess is it's a solid case.

One positive, it's one of the few budget cases I've seen with a black interior. Absolutely love black interiors.

My guess is that there is one fan on the back for exhaust and the other two are in front of the hdd bays, like all Fractal cases. Their R3 only comes with 2 fans and it WAS their flagship so having one extra fan for a budget case is pretty decent.

And from the reviews it saids there is a psu dust filter and filters on the front, right in front of the hdd bays.

I'd say for $40 this case is pretty good in terms of bang for buck. I was shopping for cheap $50~ cases a while back for my servers and to the best of my ability all I found was the Antec 100 for $60. Zero dust filters, HDDs required screwing in, the material are razor thin, the pci brackets requires snapping off, and one of the fans was DOA. I even had to screw the standoffs in. It was certainly a world of difference coming from high end cases that spoon feeds you.

Yeah I've done more research it has front dust filters, and a filter for the PSU on the bottom. However it has a second intake fan hole at the bottom with no filter. And of course side fan mounts with no filters (almost every case seems to have no filters on side fans). So the only difference between it and the Corsair 300R I'm looking at (also currently on sale for $49 after $20 rebate) is the 300R has dust filters on both bottom fan holes instead of just the PSU one. Corsair 300 is also bigger, but seems to have USB 3.0 ports only on the front with no adapter for 2.0. So I'd have to buy the 4.99 adapter elsewhere since my board only has USB 2.0. On the flip side, on the Fractal if/when I get a USB 3.0 board, I'll have to buy a USB 3.0 front bay for probably $10.

You could buy extra standalone fan filters but they run $7-9 at newegg each and it seems a bit silly to do much on a $40 case.

Edit: Just grabbed it. The three fans alone are probably worth $20 lol.

I really NEEDED a black interior case and now I have one. A little worried it will be a little small/cramped, but for $40 oh well. Also, I thought it only came with one fan (the newegg specs said 1X120mm) The fact it comes with 3 is great (I have a few of my own anyway of course). The fact this is normally a $75 case swayed me.

neither rosewill or FD has USB 3.0 though i'll go with rosewill as lately they've cleaned up pretty nice and been only reading positive reviews 90% of the time.

i do like the 300r having open space for long video card, making it not to long case unlike many others who has full length of GC+little space for cable management+HDD space + front fan just looks odd shape to me. just wish some of those price will come down (about 50%) be easier to make PC for family members as i can get them best of their budget.

I purchased this case when it first came out.

This case has front and bottom (PSU) airfilters. Only the bottom filter is easy to clean. You have to handle the entire front panel when cleaning the front filters. It's a pain in the ass.

The steel is thin, but I haven't had an issue with warping.

It is definitely a clean and relatively good looking case. Minimalisitic in design. For me the value is in it's no-nonsense appearance. There are very few bells and whistles with this case however. So buyer beware.

Feel free to ask me questions if needed.

I think this is a good value for 60 bucks. It never has warranted the 75 pricetag. For 50 bucks it's definitely a considerable purchase if you're in the market for a case.

For 40 bucks it's a really good deal.

i love doing business with this company. I had a side panel i bent or warped for my R3 case and they sent me a brand new side panel no questions asked and even sent me a couple fans a 120mm silent and 140mm free of charge !!
