WoW: Mists of Pandaria releasing September 25

How people can enjoy being fed the same re-packaged bullshit for 8 years now is...........incredible

It's different content, but the same game. Same concept as every other game since the dawn of DLC and Expansions.

Still kicking myself for not ordering 2 CEs of the original WoW. I have the CE (which I will never part with) but I see sealed copies going on ebay for like $1000 :(

I bought 4 of them. Sold the 3 spares in consecutive years following release. Made about $500 dollars over what I paid. I look at what they sell for now and wish I would have kept them. Tried it again with Burning Crusade and sold one for about double, one at cost, and gave the 3rd one away. Haven't done that since.

Oh hey, prices of CE's going down being coincidental of the real fun-factor IN-GAME. How ironic, haha.

I have a gift card, i'll buy MoP, play it and enjoy the leveling experience. And then i'll quit. I'm fine with that.

The new expansion is entirely focused on PvP. There is a new mechanic called PVP Power that makes using PVE items in high level PVP a death sentence. I think you'll like it if you are any good at pvp. Casuals will probably always complain tho.

Did they not already accomplish this?

You would get fucking exploded in an instant if you weren't sitting on like at least 2k resilience. The burst damage was absurd otherwise.

I don't see why everyone is getting bent out of shape over 'Pandas'. They sort of emulated different cultures with the different races. Seems to me that an Asian theme was the natural progression. Looking forward to the new artwork. The starting zone I played in the Beta and I thought it was real good looking. And people saying your paying for the same game...sure...but aren't we doing that for everything? How many Doom/Quake Clones are there? Battlefield and COD clones or even sequals? We are ALL paying for the same games in one way or another. I'll get my jolly's worth on this one too. And old coot like me enjoys popping in and casually playing when I want, or doing hardcore stuff with buds if I want. To each their own I guess. Got a guild on Shadowmoon and a bunch of folks looking to come back if anyone is interested...

How many of those battlefield and quake clones carry a $15 monthly sub?

It just seems weird to have an asian-themed area when most of Azeroth is more sci-fi/fantasy. And compared to every other race, Pandas do seem kinda lame.

Reminds me of how in city of x when you're a mastermind you can get Ninjas, Robots, Necromancy, Mercenaries.....and thugs. You really couldn't think of something better?

I don't necessarily agree. It adds more flavor to the game in my opinion. Just like this world, where crossing borders have different accents, art and culture...Azeroth as a whole is somewhat mixed from the start. Tauren are gruff, foresty giants, Orcs are like some kind of barbarian/ Ghengis Kahn type horde. Dwarves are like Drunken Irishman, gnomes are like geekers. Humans are typical midieval culture, the Undead are like an underground heavy metal mosh pit. Night Elves are tricky for me to put a finger on. Kind of like a brooding race. Think of the Nordic themes of Wrath, the otherworldy themes of Burning with a slight Russian flavor for the Dranei. The arrogant Blood Elf personalities, sort of like some European aristocracy. Sort of Celtic/Gothic background for the Worgen. Comic relief of the Goblins...etc.

As for the 15 bucks a month vs. my clones statement. Maintaining the database of this magnitude alone ls tough enough, even with the auction house...and you get new content throughout the expansions life. Its a service as much as a game. They've added dungeon finders and things that players wanted (as a whole). I personaly enjoy playing different toons/classes/races. I can jump in and make my character's grow with a number of different starting points and a vast world with shit tons of quests and quest lines. The problem is alot of gamers want to rush to the end, then they get there and they get bored. Lots complain about the complexity and challenge of the raids and they get nerfed, but the nerfing is based on data gathered.

The game is smooth and fun. You can blast out a main who grinds the crap out of everything in PVE and reach for best on server...you can be a PVP specialist, or both. You can level up alts and professions and do some of the more obscure stuff. Granted, I would like to see more complexity with some of the professions, maybe even allow for player housing and things...but that would alienate casual players. Its a tough scale to balance, but I would argue that its certainly worth 15 bucks a month, for me at least. I played as a young adult while employed...i guess if you were starting as a teenager and relied on game cards or parent early on it may leave a bad taste in your mouth (being generic here, not directed ant anyone in particular) but there's something to be said about jumping into a vast world to explore whenever you want. I even enjoy the achievements and fishing when nothing exciting is happening. I have a huge backlog of games that I hop on here and there on Steam, but i always seem to find my way back to Azeroth, even though I'm more casual now than hardcore. But I'm looking forward to friends returning to my guild, friends I have from all about the country that have remained my friends that I talk with on facebook now and on the phone and play other games with too for several years, even though lulls in game activity.

So how is everyone enjoying the new patch? I think it's quite interesting. Talents are now just three choices and most of my spells/attacks are gone and been replaced with just a few very strong ones.

What's funny is that i haven't literally logged into WoW since just after WoTLK came out. If it ever goes F2P i may return, but that's about about the only way i'd go back. (But then again, if a really GOOD xpac comes out, who knows? lol)
Probably come back to a stripped character tho.
Surprised that no one has mentioned much of the panda's in EQ2. Not a playable race, but still asian themed.

I can send you a SoR for 7 days free time a lvl 80 boost

That's the thing about the world of Warcraft (not the game, the entire existence), it's unpredictable and unique. Pandas, robots, flying machines, norse gods, it's got a little bit of everything.

On a more related note, I don't think I'll be buying MoP (for now anyway) now that Guild Wars 2 has me hooked beyond belief. That, and Sleeping Dogs, Borderlands 2 coming out next month, Resident Evil 6 following about 2 weeks after, there just isn't enough time to do it all, and honestly, I can't justify the $15 a month when there's so much more shit to do that's different. I don't think that I'll swear off WoW yet for sure, but for the next few months, I won't be on for the first time in a long ass time. Maybe for Christmas break, who knows.

As a newbie player I spent 30 minutes in the game this morning trying to figure out what happened to my lvl 75 warlock and in the end just threw my hands up in the air and rage quit. Tooooo much change....

Pisses me off because I just re-upped my sub last night... $15 down the crapper.

Maybe I'll feel differently when I've had more sleep and tried it again.

Whenever there is a talent type change, it takes some time to get back into it. Don't think of it as $15 wasted. Like you said, I'd try to go back refreshed and attempt to learn it.

i dont see 15$ a month to play it any more as worth it, i started up a starter account about a week ago from a lapse playing for around 2 yrs or so to see if i wanted to pay to play again, to me it seems that the game has gone the way of the casual player and have taken out alot of the "effort" to achieving things. Like things you used to have to work for can just be learned out bought now and after that last patch taking out the talent tree it seems like their making all the toons very cookie cutter in nature. could be wrong i really havent played with the new patch very long but to me the game has lost alot of what it used to have, The individuality in toons is fading away

Wait, did I just read right that now you really only use 3 skills at a time?

Depends on the class.

My warlock instead of 9 spells (3 dots, 4 direct damage, 2 different damage cooldowns) now uses about 5. My combat rogue still uses about 9-10 (sinister strile, revealing strike, eviscerate/crimson tempest, s&d, rupture, expose armor, adrenaline rush, shadow blades, killing spree) + a few situational ones like kick, shiv, etc.

So some classes became easier, some became more complicated.

Ugh, sounds like they arse-raped skills/spells/talents. Any good sites with a good breakdown of the changes and how the classes will play differently? I hope they didn't bend my Paladin over too badly!

I think paladins did not suffer from many changes. At least when I've logged on my prot paladin all the spells were on the button bar as I left them a day before, unlike the warlock with half-empty bars. But auras are gone for good and replaced by permanent stances (seals) that do not change when you die.

What seems to be the biggest thing now is that certain class abilities are off limits depending on what spec you take. For example, as an Elemental Shaman, I can no longer use Healing Wave or Greater Healing Wave; those are Restoration-specific. That doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me.

Hehe Thanks but i'll keep on playing LoTRO... :) Have a lifetime sub for it, so no paying monthly and have vip status.
I liked WoW but with all the F2P i play and the steam games i have on backlog, don't have as much time as i'd like to devote to WoW anymore. :p

They are attempting to make each class more dynamic based off of the spec you want to have. In Cata there was zero difference essentially between each role you wanted to play, I think this is a good thing bad thing as it will result in a bit more dynamics back to the classes/spec but at the same time it gives you less options for play (like enhancement shaman's being able to spot heal, which I do often).

Oh and yea that trailer was fucking epic.

Oh and yea that trailer was fucking epic.

I do agree with this statement. I mean it was a bit too 'Kung Fu Panda' for me but the artwork and cinematic style was extremely well done. If only they could make the game look like that... lol.

When I dropped into the game this morning literally 3/4th of the spells (or powers or whatever you hardcore WoWers call them) I had in my action bar were gone. Really grated my cheese as I had a whole 'routine' of spells setup to use when I would meet up with a mob... my bars are almost totally empty now.

Supposedly the spells I have left to use as a warlock are much more powerful than they were before, but dammit I liked what I had. As a totally superficial geek the eye candy was awesome as hell. Now all I have is Immolate and Reign of Fire or something...

I laughed when the human handed the orc a weapon, good to see they still have a sense of humor.

As for the spells, its really going back to vanilla play style for some classes. I played a warlock in the first one and did all trees, their wasnt a lot of mechanics to use, even as demonic spec'd and we were considered to be playing the most dynamic of the classes then. So this kind of excites me.

As much crap as I talked about this expansion, looking at the graphical updates, major skill overhaul and all my old guildies coming back...sigh, I may have to get back into it.

I actually like being locked into a spec, giving you EVERYTHING that tree had/has to offer and the skill tree is more of a "perk" tree all classes share. I just think its a bit funny that this new perk tree is almost entirely useless and all but maybe 1 or 2 area's are 100% situational.

I'm getting the itch again, patched the game last night, haven't reactivated yet. May or may not actually reactivate/pick up Mists. Haven't decided. Probably going to depend on whether my friends come back or not, I'm going to guess only a few of them will for a month or two.

EDIT: Is BT soloable at 90 in beta? I got a MH glaive on my rogue on my first BT run ever earlier this year, 12-13 runs later I saw another MH, but still no OH or dagger. Got to be a pain to find people for it...

I don't like the new talent system that much. Sure some of the talents are interesting and some of the class design changes are nice it just lacks something. Old talent/spell systems you felt like you were getting something when you went up a level. Leveled a hunter from 80 to 85 this last week and I didn't feel any real excitement when I gained a level.

yea when will they introduce the rmah into wow or are they still waiting on titan for that?

I saw an idiot pay $250 for an axe in D3.
GOD I just thought people were stupid now I know
