Dishonored

I'm assuming it will be a 32bit game then?

A GTX 460 seems pretty high based on the screenshots and footage, it's not exactly pushig the graphics envelope... It looks about equal to Bioshock 2, which only required a "GeForce 7800 GT"...or Skyrim which needed a GeForce 8800...

CPU requirements make it sound like it's optimized for 4+ cores, though, which is nice. Not sure about the RAM thing, though, considering Win7 will eat up a bunch of that 4 GB right off the bat.

Considering how cheap RAM is, and how widespread 64-bit processors/OSes are, developers really need to start tapping more than 4 GB of RAM. IMO there is no excuse for releasing a piece of software in 32-bit that will end up using like 1 GB of RAM max when we all have 8+ GB.

What are you talking about? There's an ENTIRE industry of great voice actors, you do know that right?

Maurice LaMarche
Lani Minella
Rob Paulsen
Billy West
Tara Strong
Vic Mignogna
Mark Hamill
Phil LarMarr
John Di Maggio
Jim Cummings
Frank Welker
Peter Cullen
etc etc etc

Plenty of great talented voice actors out there that could easily do multiple voices and you can't even tell it's the same person, because they are actually GOOD at voice acting and don't just read the lines like most hollywood actors that act then do a voice role on the side.

As far as separating them, the thing is when you hear an actor voicing a character the reason it's harder to separate them is because unlike real voice actors, actors do not change their voice. They sound like >insert name< doing the voice, rather then becoming that character.

there rubbish mate. if they was soo good why aint they voice actors/actresses for movies like toy story and shrek?

Tom Hanks > everyone on that list

glad to see them give some love to PC gamers with a list of PC-only features:

-The FOV slider for changing your field of view. (PC Only)
-Controller and mouse sensitivity options, as well as four different options related to auto aim strength and aim assist.
-The mouse smoothing/acceleration slider and enable/disable options. (PC only).
-Graphics options for the full spectrum of monitor resolutions, anti-aliasing, and various other graphical toggles. (PC only)

Nice tonic coming off of Darksiders 2. That really should simply be standard fare on any PC game.

People named a bunch of awesome games that this game borrows from. That's fine by me. I'll be extremely confident when the time comes for me to preorder this thing. It's too soon yet.

This is frustrating, RAM is so dirt cheap right now, you can pick up 16Gb of DDR3 PC12800 performance RAM for about £80 which is nothing.

That, and almost every new pre-built desktop, even low-end ones, come with 6-8 GB right off the bat.

What's stopping you? Give in to the temptation.... ;)

It's pretty amazing to think that I've already had my machine for over three years and what the same cost that I paid for the hardware back then can get me now. Wow.

maybe cause RAM is the handicapped part of machines? isn't that why processor caches exist? every part of your computer is faster then RAM as far as I know.

i have 8 gigs i got that for 45$ hahaha so I agree with you there if it will help they should definitely be utilizing more ram

the goal for developers is to make their game playable by as many people as possible though.. i see that being the determining factor when it comes to making a decision like that

IMO 8 gigs should still be quite enough for anyone and any game.

This is my current "can't wait" game. I agree with Q-BZ, I do not see how they could really screw this up, short of blatant overlooked bugs, which unfortunately Bethesda is known for. I'm giving them the benefit of doubt though because I love most of their games.

Since Bethesda isn't the actual developer I wouldn't sweat this much.

Looks nice. However, I hope those are console graphics we're seeing because otherwise I'm not impressed at all on that front. Still looks like a fun game, though.

If those are console graphics they're pretty good for what they are. Everything we've seen and heard thus far from this crew suggests to me that the PC version is not going to be some quickie port and I bet the eye candy maxed out will be quite worthwhile.

Here are some new high-res screenshots.

This is a little funky so be warned: H-SCROLL ALERT!

They come up in a carousel, but if you right click and tell it to open the image in a new tab and then remove the width and height numbers after the .jpg in the URL bar, you can get the image in its high resolution form (we're talking 7568x4224 resolution, so prepare to do some scrolling).

These look pretty damn sweet. I'll be getting this for sure.

Does no one else think those textures look REALLY bad?

I do. Overall the game looks worse than Bioshock (which it seems to have borrowed from) which isn't bad so much, but it's not really amazing looking. Still graphics don't make a game!

It's console footage I'm pretty sure. I'm not worried about it.

RAM is basically the 2nd fastest access outside of your CPU. HDD/SDD are the slowest links in the chain, causing the largest penalty (Cache -> RAM -> Disk)

Theres a real... inconsistancy about lots of bits of it in those PC screenshots too. Lots of the models (most glaring example being the wheels on the carriage), are really low poly, on everything you can see points, which you really shouldn't if they are properly made/smoothed. So it's safe to assume these models are made with lower end systems systems (or consoles) in mind, or they are older, from an earlier time in the production of the game and never got redone properly. These would have logically been taken with the highest settings availible so I am guessing these are the best theyll get.

Other bits it's less noticable, but it's still there when you look for it. The textures are fairly variable too in those high resolution screenshots. Thres good and bad. The bump maps seem like they are too low resolution, like with skyrim. When it's in motion i'm sure it wont be noticable, and like I said, it's the gameplay that matters. Just this game wont, and shouldn't, win any graphics awards. :D

Just like, in that video, a lot of the stone textures (stairs, walls, etc) and the ground looked really bad. Like, completely flat and no real detail whatsoever.

Well, maybe we need to start bugging them to work on a high resolution texture pack for the PC now, Sleeping Dogs style. ;)

Just pre-ordered this game; going in with zero expectations.

i have been doing that lately myself.. no beta, no constant video watching and reading, no research or any of that. Just check for games i think are good, buy and play. makes them so much better.

Unless the game ends up being shit...

...which is why the majority of people want demos/betas/whatever to get an idea what the game is like before buying.

That said, other than the mediocre graphics this game looks pretty good.

I think his point is that you won't know if you like it until you play it.

I did that with Sleeping Dogs and was blown away by it. Oddly I wasn't a fan of True Crime, had I found out prior to pre-ordering it - I might not have. Though I haven't tried the demo of Sleeping Dog, from what I've read (now that I've finished the game), it was an old build that was not really indicative of the final product. Though I haven't downloaded it to verify myself, not that I will. Now to ignore everything about Dishonored until I'm done with it lol

That's true. They have you on some rails on purpose in the early parts of the game on purpose (the demo.) That doesn't last long. ;) Sleeping Dogs is awesome.

This game is also going to be an awesome.
