Mad Catz Strike 7 Keyboard

What in the world...looks amazing.

Too bad it's $300. I could see $150, especially if it was mechanical.

Am I missing something with Mad Catz products? I had to rma the first rat 7 I had. The second one was worse, tracking issues like no tomorrow. I simply gave up and it’s hidden away in a drawer.

Not mechanical. Pass.
I agree, This keyboard, will prob not register key strokes! Never mind feel good under one's hands

I have had good luck. My RAT7 was purchased when they were first released and has worked perfectly. I am just now starting to have an issue with it but I think it is due to the conditions here in Afghanistan and how much I travel with it.

I really like the modular design and the metal frame. I'll wait to hear how their special membrane that mimics a mechanical keyboard performs before judging.

Just get the real deal and don't waste time with it. Mechanical keys can not be faked. A membrane is still a membrane. Even if it is a good one.

I hear you Dan; however, technology changes. Someone might come up with a non-mechanical solution that everybody will fall in love with. You never know.

Not likely. I think touch screens and holographic interfaces will one day replace what we use now, but nothing will ever beat the tactile feedback of a mechanical switch. Membrans are just mushy bullshit. They are cheap, wear out quickly and worse yet their feel is inconsistent.

Can't wait to see the photos of these in people's setups... Next to a 16" fading LCD display that they really should have spent $300 or even half to replace.

If this sells really well I will be baffled. This looks like something from April 1st.

devil's advocate...

and mechanical sound like Savion Glover is tap dancing just to type ;)

or better yet.

and mechanical sounds like I have an IBM selectric II banging on the paper, yet there is no paper.

For gaming Mech keys are good.

But for typing day in and out (IT work). the clack clack clack. clack clack clack will get to even the best ADD person. Yes even with earphones in place.

I wonder when Art LebDev will have the LCD interface done. ;)

Sorry, but I type more in a given day than most do. And the sound of mechanical keys has never bothered me. In fact I often miss it when it's gone. Then there is the feel of the keys. I like the way the feel. I type better on mechanical keyboards because they feel more consistent. The keys don't move around as much and don't squeek, creak, or push in unevenly. And not all mechanical keyboards are all that loud. Cherry MX Browns, blacks, and reds aren't too bad as long as you don't type angry.

Membrane keyboards make a sound too. It may not be quite as loud but it's just as repetitive.

I tried on a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate.. never again.

Had a 30 page finance doc to turn in. My co-workers were not happy either. lol

with that said, i had a co-worker in another company that banged the keys so hard. no matter if it was membrane or mechanical.. he ALWAYS typed loud.

Well first off, you need to use a GOOD mechanical keyboard. The Black Widow needs the stabilizers replaced with Costars. The stock ones are Cherry Corp I believe and suck.
