Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Detailed

http://www.evga.com/default.asp

I was under the impression that they were fairly well known, and I think they've been around for a couple years now. Maybe not?

The rest of my pc is actually rather modern, with a i5 2500k cpu, lga 1155 mobo with pci-e 2.0 (bought it before 3.0 was around), and 16gb ddr3 1600 ram. My power supply is getting old, but it hasn't had any problems running my 9800gtx, and I think the 660ti is supposed to be on par with it in terms of power usage.

Though I do have an internal floppy drive still :p
lol, I was just joking because EVGA is probably the most well known video card maker out there. I have had an 8600gt, gtx560 se and gtx670 that were EVGA.

what resolution are you going to be playing at?

Well atm I run two screens, one at 1680x1050 and another at 1280x1024, but I only play games on the 1680 for obvious reasons. I'll probably pick up a 1080p screen or two sometime after I get the new gpu, but no interest in dual/tri-monitor gaming or 1440p/1600p screens.

well I would just stick with the 1680x1050 screen as long as you can. a gtx660ti will be a good card for that resolution too.

I'm so tired of hearing things like

"I got the 660 because its the same thing as the 670" and then 670 owners say "I got the 670 because its the same as the 680"

Does that by proxy mean that the 660 is a 680? Come on people, each card offers its own unique enticement to their potential buyers. The 660 and the 670 are obvious choices for bang for buck for SLI setups.

I would have probably bought a 670 had they been around when I got my 680, but Im sure I would have passed on the 660. I know this is just a rant, but hearing people say they got the lower card because its the same as the higher end card is like saying "I got a ford, because its the same as a lexus"

I just picked an average vs luxury brand.

If that's the case I will say Ford vs Jaguar. Considering Ford owns Jaguar.

Well damnit, I give up at the automobile analogy!

But on a side note...Id love to be able to say "I own TaTa's" lol

Well the Toyota F1 team was bought by Ross Brawn and then bought again by Mercedes. So one can say they bought a Toyota because its the same as a Mercedes.

Anyways I hope that Kyle and crew can show me what I'm not getting with a $200 cheaper video card.

Not sure I'll get it to it tonight or not. They had 2 in the store- I took advantage of my 10% coupon. :)

i believe the nda lifts august 16th. So wait 3 more days, and i am sure Kyle and the crew at OCP, will have one up for your viewing pleasure.

guess that's brand loyalty for ya, you bought a card having no idea what the performance is other than a tweaktown review which well is poor. But hey props, now stick it in your machine and become a benchmark junkie for the rest of these folks Or better yet don't open your box wait until more reviews are posted then decide if you want to return it or not ;-)

Wow, I was thinking the 660 Ti MSRP was awesome at $269.99 until I realized the op used a coupon :(

I am quite certain it will be the same or faster then my gtx 460 SLI 768mb cards. I don't think I am taking that much of a risk.

Just bought a 660 today at best buy. As far as bench marking goes, it does a little better than what my 570 sc did. The card doesn't look too bad either, look at how short the pcb is.

I was hoping to go with the cheaper 660 Ti to replace my 570, but it looks like it would be more of a lateral move than a true upgrade. Guess I'm going to have to shell out $400 for a 670. :(

300USD would translate to £232, I would definitely bite at that price though I'm sure they'll find a way to jack it up here in rip off Britain.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just put it up at £300 (oh and you have VAT to right?)

of course that is not much of an upgrade at all. even my gtx670 FTW, which is dead even with a stock gtx680, was only around 40% faster overall than my stock gtx570. and with your cpu, you will get even less gain than I did in some games.

What a junk of card, regarding price/performance, for 320$ you can get 7970 which destroy this crap.

Heck, I'd be surprised if they didn't. Hasn't the exchange rate for computers always been 1:1?
Which always puzzled me as the cards are all imported from China/Taiwan anyway but that's another story.

I've been holding out the upgrade of my 5850 for a while now. To be fair, the only taxing games I've played are Shogun 2, BF3 and Metro 2033. It still does the job in majority of games thanks to the console legacy. But yeah, if the 660ti is reasonably I'll definitely jump back on the Nvidia train!

Show me were you can get a 7970 for $320.00 brand new.

I think you're thinking of the 7950.

Yea he must of ment 7950.

The 7950 either way is still a great buy. I was messing with my girlfriends 7950 i got her b-day, last night.

Got her core up to 1200 and memory at 1705. PRetty impressive numbers, that not even a 660ti could match.

All had for $309

Butt hurt fanboy?

That's some serious pot-kettle-black action right there.

Anyway, a lot of us are jumping to conclusions mighty quick. Strangely enough many of the people complaining about Tweaktown's review being crap are also slagging off the card based on specs. So looking at spec numbers is better than a review with hard benchmark numbers? Outdated, unpatched games... yes, I get it. Still, better than staring at number of cores and memory bandwidth.

Let's all wait a few more days before making up our minds, eh? The NDA is almost up. We can afford to wait a bit more to see how the numbers play out from some of the better reviewers out there. Meanwhile maybe the handful of early adopters will indulge us and let us know how it's looking (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).

I want to see the 2 year old $300 GTX570 vs the new $300 660Ti on the same chart.

a stock 670 is only about 35% faster than a stock 570 so a 660 ti would be a very small upgrade over a gtx570.

How long do we really think it'll stay at 300? I'd imagine it'll drop pretty quick once all the new card sheen wears off .

So it'll be 30% faster considering how close these cards are together supposedly?
