The scariest thing about this article? Almost everyone has a wireless router in our house somewhere. Thanks to [H] forum member Ocean for the link.

In the 1930s, U.S. Navy researchers stumbled upon the concept of radar when they noticed that a plane flying past a radio tower reflected radio waves. Scientists have now applied that same principle to make the first device that tracks existing Wi-Fi signals to spy on people through walls.

Dude in front of the door...If you don't looking at your iPad you're going to have a bad time.

Need to edit PS that picture for the following:
-Census counting
-Police State
-House break-ins

The applications of basic science principles never cease to amaze...

While neat, I think the last thing we need is another way for the government and it's goons to spy on us.

Question for the techies. Since phones, tablets and laptops are usually on and constantly scanning for wifi, would it be possible for another phone to detect them? If so, then even tho such a thing would be 1 dimensional, you can theoretically map an area by tying your sensor application to the phones gyro and 'scan' an area by moving your device around, much like that clockwise spinning bright line you see on radars?

ala Batman: Dark Knight?

Didn't they do something similar to this in an episode of "Continuum." It wasn't wi-fi waves, but I remember they used some type of wave and mapped out a while building.

I was gonna make a comment about 'conductive paint/farady cages' but y'all are already over that .

:D
