What's the model of the monitor arm?

My small desk i want to switch to galant but i'm broke now :) i wish i could find someone selling there galant for cheap around me

How are you guys making those mini shelves on your galant, jerker, etc... desks? It looks like a shelf + one of those 3 sizes of legs? I dont know the name of any of it, but I've seen the legs, just not the shelves.

Also, does anyone know if you can buy just the Galant table top? I've got a galant desk I purchased some years back 2nd hand, and the beech/birch top is in dire need of replacing.

I'm telling you, these new higher-pixel-rate 26-28" monitors are making me seriously consider ditching my 30" because they are just so much easer to get great LCD arms for. 30" monitors really are not that easy to get an arm that can hold multiples and be flexible. I've got 3 different arms for my monitors.

Long time lurker on this thread for ideas. Thought I would contribute my project I finally put together about 6 months ago for the home office.

Lagan countertop (ten coats of wipe-on poly), Vika Adils legs, Besta shelves, Inred LED spotlight pack.

Capita legs + a cheap shelf from the hardware store for CPU holder.

Not from Ikea but the wall plate surge protector on the right wall from monoprice is great, has 3 outlets and 2 usb charging ports. It eliminated a floor surge protector.

27" Korean IPS monitor wall-mounted (PCBank Super 2700).

Little Ikea cable managment kit that was $5, plus some wrap from the hardware store.

TJUSIG white rack with some baskets on the far wall... I didn't figure this one out :)

Yeah, I agree with you on the monitor arms department. Getting what you need for 30's is a pain in the ass.

Really clean. Nice work!

You can buy all the parts for a Galant desk seperately. I bought one peice at a time to make sure I had the right part/measurements.

Pondered doing something very similar with the Lagan countertop. Where did you find it though? Everywhere I've looked online shows sold out in store, and paying what they want to ship a block of that is insane (wish they did ship-to-store).

I just kept checking the stock on the web, eventually the store had ~80 units in, which sold out in only a few days. The floor staff still said they were sold out, but I had them check their computer and they were surprised to find a bunch in stock.

The Numerar top is also another option, although more expensive but thicker. Given how well the project turned out I think that would have been an even better option.

If you do go the wipe-on poly route I have some wipe-on poly tips:
1) Sand the Butcherblock smooth first.
2) "lint-free" cheesecloth is not lint free, but bounty painters/shop towels are.
3) wear gloves
4) For a smooth surface at the end I lightly (1-2 pass) ran 1000 grit sandpaper over it, wax'd it with carwax.
5) Plan for it to take a few days, I did 5 coats on the bottom and 10 coats on the top (1000 grit sandpaper treatment after coats 5&10 on the top). A few hours between each coat to dry.

You should be able to just buy the top at the store. I have been wanting to upgrade mine galant to a corner version for a few months now.... just have to convince the wife, she HATES corner desks for some reason

Maybe it's not that it's a corner desk. Perhaps it's the fact that you will spend money. Just like my wife. :D

So many great ideas for a desk setup I decided to look around used first and then new to see if I could find a Galant series desk which I did. First off can anyone tell me which pieces are used in this setup, I'm not familiar with the desk so I can't tell what leg is hidden in the back.

I'm really close to buying it but need to make sure I can fit it in my room properly. That brings a few questions as there are a lot of setups in here some of these could have been asked but I'm only on page 40 so go easy on me.

1. The shelf units with the 4 lights are those prefabbed like that or are most custom made?

2. I have 2 Asus VW246H 24 inch Monitors and want to get an Arm to hold both displays does anyone have any recommendations on specific parts or sites to buy them from?

Any other tips or hints while I'm putting this together I'd be more then happy to hear.

1. Corner Desk
2. Secondary Desk
3. Legs x 4 (though you can get away with 3)
4. Keyboard Tray

...and there is an extension that goes between 1 and 2. I think I have the right items...of course you'll have to double check.

The shelves are likely lack shelves. The lights are Grundtal. The lack shelf is a thin veneer with cardboard inside. Lots of lack hacks out there:

Looking at the length, there are actually TWO secondary desk extensions on the right side of that Galant setup, not just one.

3130889065u_0x424x360.jpg

I can tell this because the "wide" side of the desk on the left is the single desk unit known as a "right" desktop, which leaves the "thinner" part over on the right side of it. The thinner edge is a short stop that ends almost exactly at the curve, so to get that additional length, that's two additional extensions.

This is my setup below:

The extensions are universal and can go on either side (or both on one like above).

Greats thanks for the information going to pick the desk up today to start the new office.

Don't forget to post pix!

Oh I definitely this thread has inspired me and I went shopping wild at Ikea last night so when the office is done in 3 weeks it will all be posted really can't think those of you that have helped enough got a complete steal on the desk and now i'm just still in debate on audio and mounting arms for the TV and Monitors!

I've looked all over and I can't find anything close to the Effectiv Wall Cabinets other than LILLÅNGEN is that the best I can do now or does anyone know of a close match to the Effectiv?

Not sure on your dimensions, but if you're looking for cube-type shelf things that are 4 across, you could do the Expedit 1x4 and mount it horizontally to the wall. They also make boxes/doors that fit Expedit.

Any idea on the doors? If they would work with it mounted that way? It's kind of long, currently my setup is a Galant left corner with 2 extensions. So the Right Wall I was going to add a cabinet, left wall shelf then cabinet between then last shelf that is why I really wanted a single shelf like that for the cabinet. I might be able to make this work it's just a work in progress at the moment but once I figure out the cabinet type i'll be good to go.

Thanks again!

Well... the legs are from Ikea... I have about 8 hours of work into the top, it's from an old kitchen table we had. Turned out pretty nice. Ergotron MX mount for the 3007, and monoprice mounts for the side monitors. Whole setup is about 36" deep and 60" wide. Very pleased with how it turned out.

Here are the doors.
Expedit also does a 2x2 (I've been thinking about that one), if you have more vertical space.

Very nice! Looking for some mounts for my PLP setup as well and I think I found what I'm looking for. Could you link me to the monoprice mounts?

Those are what I am using, they are not really designed to be moved around like the ergotron mount, but they got them high up off the desk and hold them where I want them, and they are much much cheaper. I am going to take some more pictures of the backside once I get everything how I want it. Need a couple of 10ft DVI cables first.

Aww, that poor V1000 has been relegated to testing! :p

Great looking den btw, looks like an awesome place to hang out.

@ no_control...

What is that little printer stand?
