Rise of the Triad remake? I'll take two

loved ROTT back in the day. i'd pick up the remake just for nostalgia.

Looking forward to some chaos.
My only real concern is that a lot of the differentiating factors that made ROTT so awesome are borderline commonplace these days.

Level design and shooting mechanics will determine how awesome this is. Obviously this isn't going to be genre shaking, but it could be pretty fun.

From what I remember the weapons made it fun. Not sure how well it will translate to a modern FPS though.

Now they need to remake Ken's Labyrinth :D

Man, it was fun being a teenager in the 90's....

If this game doesn't have the speed that ROTT had back in the
day it will not be as fun.

ROTT was non stop fast paced rocket spam fun. If this tries to be
just another reealism FPS I'll be disappointed.

Jesus when are they going to learn, the reason those games were
fun is because they weren't so focused on making sure the lens
flare from the sun was perfect. They focused on gameplay styles
and flat out fun.

Sweet. I played the heck out of that game too, have the CD still at my desk :)

I downloaded the sw of ROTT the day it was released in 1994. Long-distance dialup to a major BBS in Mass.

Epic. Fun.

I'm hoping they don't rape my memories.

I hope it has two things:

Some reference to that machine-blade level... it might have been a hidden level?
That god hand weapon... might have been a cheat code weapon?

It's been a long time. Weird game!

Don't worry, judging by that trailer it's going to look about as good as an Xbox360 game so they've probably spent most of their dev time on the gameplay!

I can't wait to press the start button on my keyboard.

haha I remember rott well. Lots of weapons and the gibs were great! The heat-seeking missles would track any heat source and at the right angle you could make missiles fly in endless circles as they keep getting pulled off target by wall sconces. I'd spend hours trying to get as many in the air zipping around as I could.

ROT was not early 90's it was mid 90's (Feb 1995 to be exact for full game release). It was definately a fun game to play and if they just remake it with updated graphics and models, I would be game :)

Another one that can stand an update is Shadow Warrior with Lo Wang...

This game was one of the games that nearly got half our dorm kicked out of college due to the stupid amount of hours we put into it. I used to be a bitch'n camper with the flame wall. Sign me up!

I always thought ROTT was terrible back then. Pass.
Yeah you had to be a gamer back them to think it was the coolest shit ever.

I think about this game several times a year. Especially when people start talking about remakes. I am REALLY looking forward to this game. But I never would have guessed that this was a ROTT sequel. I'll hold my doubts until the game is released.

b/c nostalgia can be a nice refresher sometimes.

im super excited for this remake, I loved the original and never beat it (friend owned it and I didnt)

I can't say I understand it. the graphics have some nice effects but overall are ugly compared to modern games.

I'd rather have remakes of older games than play most of this new crap they got coming out.

Castle Wolfenstine 3D
Doom
Descent
Duke
Hexen/Heretic
Unreal
Unreal Tournament
Jedi Knight
Wing Commander III
Elite Force series
Republic Commando

All are shining examples of games that brought good gameplay to the table

This was an old favorite time waster! I remember the - Hand of God - weapon..lol. er..at least I think that was from ROTT ; ) - fun puzzles...multiplayer...good entertainment back in the day...

I loved playing ROTT as a kid. It was so much fun blasting everything away having eyeballs fly past the screen lol. And the fast pace jump sequences were pretty awesome for its time as well.

Ludicrous Gibs!

.
Indeed, ROTT was a run and gun game if ever there was one. That bullet-time type slow-mo nonsense they showed in the scene where you are falling has me nervous. In fact I'm just a clunky Gears of War type cover mechanic away from being pissed.

Next they are goin to remake all apogee games like Blake Stone ;)

Those were fun.

Anyone remember Corridor 7 Alien Invasion?

Definitely bring back games of the 90s. Heck I would not even care if the graphics were not upgraded, just let them run on modern 64bit OS!

ROTT was awesome especially with my Turtle Beach Multisound and custom GM patches. Loved the music and especially the moaning when the "Hand of God" was used!

I really loved that game. Wasted many an hour lobbing drunken missiles at friends back in the day.

I had a blast playing ROTT back in the day. Never managed to beat it, though. The trailer has certainly got my hopes up of it being a fun game!

Anyone looking to replay the original should check out WinROTT. There is an OpenGL version of WinROTT as well.

My wife and I both played the shareware demo when we were children. I still remember the enemies that would steal your weapon. "Gimmie that!"

Looking forward to it, I liked the original.

I just hope they don't fuck this game up with today's modern wannabe CoD elements in it, then I'll buy it.
