World of Tanks MMO

I've seen so many clueless Tier X in pub matches, I wish they were somewhere else driving a ms-1. I really only drive my Tier X's in CW right now.

7.5 is dropping tomorrow so more tier X to grind for, I actually have enough EXP to get the T62A but I'm short on credits....

Don't get me wrong, I've seen lots of idiots in TierX pubs. But the average is much MUCH better than T1/2 matches.

Yeah, I've hit a real credit wall lately too. I used to use my KV as an enjoyable money maker, but then they patched it away and I took a break. I've been back for a while, but haven't found a new credit machine I enjoy playing. I should get the larger gun on the SU-85 tonight and I'm hoping that should provide some good entertainment for the credit grind.

premium tanks man, they're bring back the Type 59 soon, and I think this patch adds the super pershing. Or you can go to the old stand by, Lowe. They all print credits pretty good.

What he said, the T-59 is a money printing machine. Low repair cost, low ammo cost. You can't match with common vehicles and premium over time.

I have thousands on matches played at higher tiers (8-10) and frankly I enjoy driving my Marder II now much more so than my Obj 704, or IS7. I don't play in a clan, or platoons, or on voice comms with anyone, I play by myself and I try to do the best I can to support and lead the team to a win.

The reason I like my Marder II better is because it's often at the bottom or at the very most in the center of the pack but it punches above its tier. This allows me to actually make an above average contribution to the teams win. My average tier 9-10 win rate is around 52%. My win rate for the Obj 704 is 59% and my Marder II win rate is 69%.

Sure, there's the argument that I am a veteran player playing against noobs. There some truth to that but there are plenty of other players who are veterans but choose to play lower tier tanks. I rediscovered the Marder after I looked at the profile of a guy who had more than 3k battles in it even though he had Tier 10 tanks as well.

In a Marder I can compensate for the ineptitude of team members, to a lesser degree I can do that in the 704 as well. In the IS7, being one of ~12 other Tier 10 tanks I cannot adequately compensate for mistakes made by others and I am at their mercy.

I need something more satisfying than beating up a bunch of noobs with an overpowered tank. That is fun for a day, not for months on end.

Yet that is exactly what you are doing if you are participating in any kind of organized force (clan, platoon, voice comms) vs an unorganized bunch in pubs.

If you play CW exclusively then my comment doesn't apply to you.

Most people in pubs are noobs, it's irrelevant that the may be driving a T10 tank yet they still don't know how to aim, or how to have any sense of situational awareness.

Yes, I too could join an organized effort to essentially elevate myself above the (at best) average masses, but I just don't want to commit. I want to be able to log in on my own schedule and step away whenever I feel like it.

In the end no one player can really carry every match home. When I am in a TD, whether it's a tier 3 or a tier 9, I feel that I can make an above average contribution to the team because I enjoy playing those tanks and I know how to play them well.

If you can't see the difference in average skill between an average Tier 1 player and an average Tier 10 player, then I don't know what to tell you.

Furthermore, playing in the top tier battles you aren't going to be able to run a completely unbalanced tank like you can in some of the lowest tiers.

You can also play in a clan without CW. With platoons in standard battles or company battles, you have lots of options that don't involve I have to be on @ XX:XX.

Deal at Newegg is sold out
Newegg must be scratching their head saying WTF and shipping hundreds of these all of a sudden

I am guilty for buying A BUNCH of them yesterday

8.0 with the new physics is amazing. My son and I spent a fair bit of time in a training room, just jumping off cliffs, pushing each other over the edges, and of course dive-bombing. The new graphics look very nice indeed, and they actually increased the FPS also.

My two main gripes is the lighting and the new tech tree layout. I fixed the bright lighting look by lowering the gamma in game. The horizontal tech tree however I guess we are stuck with. They made it that way so they could add more tank lines in upcoming patches. I still don't like it though. Other than that I'm really liking patch 8.0. I was worried they would botch it. :D

I played this game for awhile. It was really fun but got old pretty quick. Maybe I should check it out, it has been a while.

I fixed this with a mod. I use Jove's mod pack which brings a bunch of huge improvements to the UI in the game menus and during actual gameplay. Here's what it looks like:

My personal favorite is the real time arty shell travel time calculator, great stuff.

8.1 went live today. The Brittish tanks have finally arrived. Buy gold shells with credits for a short time as well. Three new Gold tanks some other odds and ends.

I recently picked the game back up after about 8 months of not playing. The M-18 Hellcat is my favorite tank ever. That thing is so fun, it is actually manuervable and hits hard above it's level. It feels more effective than my T110E5 a lot of times. However since starting to buy gold ammo with silver last night my T110E5 really was racking up some damage.

M18 is one of those tanks that requires thinking 'cuz the hull is tissue paper. A 1v1 brawl, your goona die. Seen by someone with a big gun, your one shot fodder. Routed by an agressive scout, hope ya have a good escape path. A deep hole for hull down and a bush is your natural habitat. If you don't have other tanks distracting your targets your all about shoot 'n scoot. Wish it were more accurate on the run like T-59 :D

Do you manually shoot when youre on the move from third person? Or do you autoaim and hope it hits? Ive yet to find best way to do this.

I had found manual aim is better, as you have more control of shooting a lead on the target if it's moving fast, and you can quickly aim at something else if you need to change target for a closer threat.

Ever since I started playing (which is just a few weeks ago) I never used auto-aim. LOL

Question: Which should I get first, the M4 or T1 HT? My other Tier 5s are KV-1 and Pz. III/IV.

Can you get to KV-2? That tank is fun with 152mm DERP HE, I set a lowe on fire yesterday finishing him off, I bet he was pissed. That tank plays as mobile artillery, love it!

The M18 Hellcat is a great little TD. My biggest gripe with it is that it only has 24 shells. If you are not careful you can run out of ammo is a lively fight. An extra 10-12 shells would be nice. :)

My 2 cents: If you want to have fun with a Free to Play 3rd person shooter. This is it.

If you do not want to spend $, and focus on the fun of it, without the "grinding" for new, higher tier tanks, I suggest doing this: Do not go past Tier 5 (Tier 4 SPGs.) Make sure you have a credit making tank. I suggest the French BDR G1B, as it makes credits well, the only way to lose credits on this tank, is to be the first one killed in the match. Focus on finding the tanks, tank destroyers, and self propelled guns you like to play. Then go have fun. Removing the focus on higher and higher research costs helps.

If you do not want to spend $ but still want to go for the higher end tanks, I suggest playing in the early morning, if you can, as the matches seem easier then. Play until you win, and get the daily bonus (typically 2x, as high as x5 experience.) To not get overly tired to the play, play, play, play, the tanks over and over to get the experience needed for the next tank, play only until you get the bonus win, then swap tanks.
If you want to spend $, wait. Wait until you get to tier 4 or 5, as it is not hard to get there. Then look at spending $ to get the tanks you want. Using premium will get bonus experience. Look at the buy to play tanks, as several are good, but wait for sales. They happen often.
The pay to win gold rounds are now buy with credits (Gold is purchased by $.) so, the pay to win concept of the game is now decreased.

I haven't gone down that path yet, so the only experience I have with those tanks is from the other end of their cannons. The T1 HT is a heavy in name only, and is pretty much a joke. It has a terrible gun, terrible armor, and terrible engine. It fails entirely in every tank role.

I'd agree with most of this.If you are going to play the game long term, then by all means go past tier 5. Otherwise, don't. Since you'll often get pulled up, your 7 is much more likely to play in a tier and 8 or 9 or 10 battle than it is as a 7 top tier which is painful.

Credits become a problem as tanks cost more, and don't net as much (higher repair costs, shells cost more).

If you're going to play it long term, then pay the $ and run premium. It's a lot of fun and really not that much per month (it's a standard MMO cost pretty much).

Well my current line-up is this: KV-1, Pz. III/IV, T-34, A-20, M8A1, T1 HT. I've unlocked all Tier 3s now at least (besides Tier 3 SPGs that aren't the StmPz II).

I agree with these comments. I've been playing WOT on and off since the beta and have never bought premium. My current line up is Tiger II, M26, Hummel, PzIII/IV, T-50, T-34 and the A10. I have the E-75 (and a couple tier 6/7) researched but either don't have the credits to buy them or don't yet have an empty garage slot. Playing without premium is all about compromise. You need to keep several lower tier tanks around to make money which means you'll only have enough garage slots for 2 maybe 3 higher tier tanks. It also means you'd be smart to take your time with each tank, elite it, train your crew to at least 100% and earn enough money with it to pay for all the upgrades you purchased and then some.

From what I have learned of playing the game, the M4 is a fire hazard for a tank, but the 105 gun upgrade makes it one of the best tanks to use, although they recommend the gun and run tactic (working on getting that tank at the moment). Every M4 I have encountered can take a hit from the front, and kill you with the return volley though.

I'll be honest, I've got premium and ended up buying a T34 premium tank to make credits with. Not even that over night would stop credits from being a problem, but it does make it much easier to grind. I probably average 50K profit with that tank, so a mil is only around 20 battles to get.

Which comes in handy when your running something like an Object 261 where a death is 30K, and shells can run you 30k (80k if you're running the gold rounds bought with credits). I don't even break even on that thing.

Do you manually shoot when youre on the move from third person? Or do you autoaim and hope it hits? Ive yet to find best way to do this.

honestly I had totally fogetten about auto aim. As you advance in the tiers and spend more time aiming at the weak points exclusively it's cumbersome to be switching in and out of autofire. I use only manual these days although I admit I get less shots off 'cuz I'm distracted by manuevering and other threats.

Some cannons it's actually a bonus. A few of the low tier derpy guns (like on the T-82) are so slow that they arc. Can lob them over slight obstructions from 3rd person.

Well I've gone with the T1 HT for now. Finally got to research KV-1S, although I'm still not even halfway through the needed credits to buy one (currently have 410k, it's a 900k tank LOL).

Auto-aim has it's uses, though they are rare. It's biggest use is when driving something like a T-50-2 where shooting is secondary to driving. It basically lets you get in some shots at something while the camera is pointed where you're driving. In pretty much any non-light tank it's useless though.

t1 -> M6
I have a friend that hates his T1, dunno I skipped over. The M6 is decent enough once fully fitted against its own tier, bigger stuff will pulverize it. The T29 afterward is excellant once you get the top gun.

I like my KV-1S. Top gun can give anyone a bad day and It's fairly quick and manueverable. Hard to go wrong in the Russian heavy line.

I was so looking forward to the T1 HT after the grind of the Lee. Got the T1 HT, and fully upgraded. It's almost as bad as the Lee. It has lousy armor. It's gun has good pen, but lousy accuracy (mostly due to low muzzle velocity - it takes forever for shots to get to the target), and does really low damage for its tier. I've heard the M6 is a bit better, and I know the T-29 is a great tank.

KV-1S is pretty much the best tier VI in the game due to its speed/manueverability and gun. Long reload, but damn it hurts.

Its been a long time since I played in a Lee or a T1 HT but I find it hard to believe the T1 is almost as bad as a Lee. The Lee was basically a tank that sucked at whatever role it played in. It was a laughing stock. The T1 is not a fantastic tank but it was way above better than the Lee. Whenever I see Lees on the battlefield in today's game my crews lick their chops knowing they are a easy meal to be had. The T1 is a bit harder to kill compared to a Lee. I'd take a T1 over a Lee any day of the week.

Anyhow... the M6 is better once you get it upgraded. The T29 is a good solid tank as well. The T32 is a good solid tank too. The M103 is also a really nice tank. Thats as far as I have gotten. The line does continue to get better IMO as you go up. The problems I find is the higher tier you go the more arty in a fight you'll face. This is common in all lines however. It makes playing high tier heavies very difficult. At least with TDs or mediums you have a way to avoid arty shots more often by either hiding or moving quickly.

Honestly, the lee isn't as bad as people make it out to be. If it's played right against others of it's tier it can do really good but it struggles against higher tiers which any tank would have a hard time against tanks that are better than they are. As for the T1 HT, I hate that tank with a passion. So far it's the worst performing tank I've played so far and I can't wait to get rid of it.
