Is this single or dual GPU? Does it work with quad display in Linux?

Good deal if you need 4 monitors.

Agreed. The cheapest HD 5450 models that have DisplayPort and allow you to run 3 displays cost about $40 and then you need a $20 active SL-DVI adapter to use the third screen. With this you have four screens immediately.

Look at the pictures, especially number 5 starting from the top left and going clockwise. There are only 4 main screws that attach the GPU core to the heatsink, and I'm 99.9% sure that there's one die under that heatsink. So it's single GPU.

Have no clue about Linux, sorry. :(

Do the NVIDIA drivers support the card with 4 displays or do you have to use the MDT software?

Are these Dual-Link DVI? Doesn't look like it from the description...

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive card for driving 4+ 2560x1440 displays? No gaming involved, just need to show desktops.

Based on the fact that they are limited to a resolution of 1900x1200, I would say they are 99% most likely single link..Sorry, can't help with the second part..

It looks like it comes with some odd splitters.

I know there's Galaxy staff around this forum, perhaps they could answer about the Dual-Link DVI. I'd love to pick up this as a backup card in case of RMA or something. I would want it to drive my PLP setup, so if the ports themselves are Dual-Link, but the splitters can only handle 2 single-link resolutions that would still work to drive all 3 displays for me.

Unfortunately, that's not gonna work the way you'd like it to...

The connectors on the card are DMS-59 heads (not directly compatible to regular DVI cable heads) and they support 2x single link DVI displays each via the dongles. The dongles can be had in DVI or VGA flavor and, if you use the DVI flavor, it usually works with a DVI->VGA adapter if you need to mix-n-match cable types for some reason :)

The DMS-59 heads are really common on enterprise gear.

*edit for better explanation
