Making the Switch to Internet TV

I've currently got an HTPC with a Ceton InfiniTV 4, but I think as soon as current seasons of summer shows (specifically, The Newsroom and Suits) are done, we'll probably be dropping cable completely and selling the Ceton. It's worked well and everything, but we watch maybe 3 shows a week during summer, 7-8 during fall, and most of them are on regular OTA channels.

I've been on HD antenna, hulu and netflix streaming (on and off) for about 4 years. I miss discovery channel. Tried to supplement with crappy streaming sites and usenet but it's too much work.

I'm looking forward to "having" to get cable after the wedding in a couple months.

Yeah if you know what shows are on, and don't mind being a "pirate" you can get away with no cable/sat tv, from the point of a view of someone who likes tv. But hey if you have a 2 year hiatus between having TV you're considered a "new" customer (at least for DirecTV) so you can actually get those cheap ass prices that they advertise... at least for a year.

I use Hulu and netflix. They seem to offer a good variety of content if your not afraid to try new things. I think they are both worth the monthly subscription cost. Use an antenna for the OTA programming. have 2 cheapo ati650 tuner cards, and use windows media center. I really don't feel like I'm missing much of anything without cable. Well except maybe The walking dead, but there are ways around that. '
I haven't played around much with XBMC but I think I'm going to look into it a little more

I liked XBMC when it was on the original Xbox. I haven't used it since.

It's not really any different now than it was then. I mean, it is different, but the interface/usability is virtually the same.
