Diamond Multimedia ATI Radeon 9250 128MB DDR
Voodoo 3 3000
ATI 9800pro
Ati 1600Xt
Nvidia 260
Ati 4870
Amd 6870
Amd 6870 crossfire
Gigabyte Amd 7870 Crossfire

not a terribly long list of cards. In my personal rig, Played with many more cards.

Geforce 2 MX
Geforce 4 MX 440
Geforce 4 TI 4400
Radeon 9800 XT
Geforce 7800 GTX SLI
Geforce 8800 GTX SLI
Radeon 5850
Geforce GTX 670

I think that's right.

nice mental exercise...
ATI Rage Pro 128
ATI 8500
Nvidia 6800
ATI HIS IceQ 1800GTO (i think)
Nvidia 8800GT
And now running an ATI 6890 (i think.. this is what happens when you work/play more than you tinker around)

Hmmm fun topic! Lets see from what I can remember:

nVidia Geforce 2 MX 32MB
nVidia Geforce 4 MX 64MB
ATI 9250
ATI 9600SE
ATI 9600Pro
ATI 9700Pro
ATI 9800Pro
ATI 9800XT
ATI X800Pro
ATI X850XT Platinum Edition
ATI 1950Pro AGP (my last AGP card)
Nvidia 8600GT
Nvidia 9600GT
Nvidia 8800GS
ATI 4850
ATI 4870
ATI 4890 Crossfire
AMD 6870
Nvidia GTX 480
Nvidia GTX 580

I can't think of anything I'm missing...I've had other cards but they were either never used (traded or sold) or I used them for like a week or two...most of those were just variations though (like a Asus card to a Gigabyte one for better overclocking/cooling/etc).

Looking at my list goes to show how well trading and buying used can be...I think from the Geforce 2 all the way up to the ~8800GS were all acquired via trading or from selling my old stuff for new/used stuff. Wasn't until the 4850, I believe, that I actually bought it new using money from my job at the time.

THANK YOU FS/FT EVERYWHERE ON ALL FORUMS! :D

Man, seems like I'm an nvidia fanboy. The first purchase was just stupid because I didn't know anything about computers at the time (ATI 9600 > Nvidia 5600), and was told to go with Nvidia, but the subsequent two were just good deals I happened upon.

Even 4.5 years later, my 8800gts can play most games at medium quality with good FPS, but more recently it's been starting to show signs of age. Haven't been into gaming too much because of school and lack of interest / excitement in recently released titles. I've been snatching up deals on steam sales for the last 4 years and only playing every odd one or two. I keep telling myself I'm going to wait to buy a new rig until HL3 comes out... but I have a feeling that might never happen.

My first was some old ATI RAGE card in a laptop from 2000 (8m of VRAM etc) very good at the time I must say but I kept it until 2005 so man, what a huge leap forward it was when I moved on!

Late 2005: Nvidia GeForce 6200 TC (shared memory and all that BS, had bought some shitty OEM computer because I didn't know any better at the time)

Early 2006: 6600 GT (loved it! finally a real GPU)

Late 2007(around the same time as Crysis release) : ATI Radeon HD3850 (made me ragequit from ATI because of the drivers, probably for a long time if not forever)

So a few months later, in mid 2008:
MSI 8800 GTS 512 off ebay, amazing card (cool, quiet, factory oc'd and can still run many games decently tbh) I've kept it until 2010 where I felt it was about time to upgrade.

However I did something stupid that I deeply regret, I bought a GTX 275 while the GTX 460 was coming a month later. The first thing is that I didn't notice a "big" difference between my 8800 GTS 512 and my GTX 275 (no, I was not severely CPU limited but it was nothing like between 6600 GT and 8800 GTS 512 or HD3850) the second thing is that I didn't have dx11 and we all know how bad dx10 is. So I was left with playing in dx9 like with my 8800, talk about an upgrade. It was a custom Twintech card which ran very cool and very quiet (some Artic Cooling triple fan) but I didn't check the TDP and woah, my UPS made me realize (by whining under heavy load) that I had just bought a stupidly power hungry card.

So now, I'm going for a GTX 670 next monday (Gigabyte one), better performance, better TDP, more VRAM, dx11... sounds like a real upgrade to me :)

Many old cards I had in prebuilt computers before I started building my own.

XFX GeForce 9600GSO 768MB was the first card I bought
when a capacitor blew on it I got a free upgrade to a...
XFX ATI Radeon HD 4770
this card just went up on me this weekend and im currently processing an RMA for whatever they will give me, but bought a...
EVGA GTX 570 1280MB a few months ago off of FS/T here and it's been night & day

I usually skip over releases of newer GPU's. I never had a GTX480 :) I won't buy a GTX6**.

1Meg trident something (didn't do 3d but worked properly unlike the next two cards)
S3 Trio (did nothing right)
ATi Rage Pro (buggy as hell drivers)
Nvidia TNT2 (surprisingly both solid and fast)
Geforce 2 Pro
Radeon 9500, softmod and O/Ced to 9700 specs
Radeon 850XT
Geforce 8800GTS
Geforce GTX 460
Geforce GTX 460 x2 (surprisingly still running everything at 1080, pretty and fast).

Every one of these I overclocked to it's maximum potential (for the rage pro that was a 0Mhz overclock). I haven't had a need for more graphics processing after I picked up the second 460 (for $140). It's amazing how compatible SLi is now.

Mine I think were:

3DFX Voodoo 3500 TV out with pod.
(?) GF256
(?) GF2 Ultra.
(?) GF3 Ti 200
Creative FX5900 Ultra.
GF6800 Ultra.
BFG GF7800GTX OC
BFG 9600 GT
Gigabyte 4870X2 (x2 for CF)
Gigabyte 6870 OC (x2 for CF)

My first card was an ATI Graphics Solution Plus 128K RAM (Hercules Clone).
It was in my 1987 IBM XT 4.7 MHz (8MHz in turbo mode) Clone. That computer was fully loaded with 640K RAM and a 20MB hard drive.
It still works! I can't believe a 25 year old hard drive would last so long.

Then I got the ATI VGA Wonder. You could actually flip the card over to use ISA 8 bit or 16 bit. Of course I had to upgrade my 12" monochrome monitor to a 14" color one to go with it.

My next computer had a 2D card which I upgraded to a Diamond Stealth 3D card, That Descent game looked good. It's too bad the card had 3D capability but no 3D acceleration.
Then I got the 3dfx Monster 3D Voodoo 1. I couldn't believe how good Quake 1 looked in MiniGL.

After that:
Atrend 3dfx Voodoo 2 8 MB PCI
3dfx Voodoo 3 1000 8 MB AGP
Leadtek GeForce 2 Pro AGP
Gainward GeForce 4 TI 4200 128 MB AGP
ATI X800 XL AGP 256 MB
EVGA 7900 GTO 512 MB PCIE
Visiontek 4870 512 MB
XFX 6950 2 GB

GeForce Ti4200
Radeon 9800 Pro
Radeon x850 Pro
ATi x1950 Pro
ATi 3870
2x ATi 3870
3x ATi 3870
ATi 4850
ATi 4870x2
2x AMD 5850
AMD 6950 2GB
AMD 7970
2x AMD 7970
2x AMD 7970 + 9800GT for Physx

Started gaming in 1984. :) Drawing green lines in DOS codes on a tiny 10'' monitor was sooo hot!

Voodoo andf Matrox were my first dedicated GPUs. Then every Nvidia cards until the 8800 Ultra. Then I made the switch to AMD.

Now using in my 3 LAN gaming computers at home:

-4X 7970 Quad-Fire
-2X 7970 Crossfire
-2X GTX 690 Quad-SLI coming next week (was using 2X 7950 in that one)
