"The artists
Christopher Tin
Christopher Tin's debut album Calling All Dawns redefines the phrase `epic musical journey'. It won two GRAMMY awards, including the only GRAMMY ever to be given for a video game song (for `Baba Yetu', the theme from Civilization IV)'. Sung in 12 different languages, the album explores the cycle of life, death, and rebirth as told through the poems and prayers of different cultures around the world. And the scale of the production is just as staggering: Tin pulled together over 200 musicians from 5 continents, including many legends of classical and world music (Frederica von Stade, Soweto Gospel Choir, Anonymous 4, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Dulce Pontes, Sussan Deyhim, and many more).

OK Go
OK Go's Twelve Remixes of Four Songs is a collection of remixes of some of the best songs from 2010's Of the Blue Colour of the Sky, along with studio versions of those tracks.

They Might Be Giants
Album Raises New and Troubling Questions is a rarities collection of songs recorded during the band's sessions for their most recent full-length album, Join Us.

Jonathan Coulton
It's hard to pick the 14 best songs from Jonathan Coulton's catalog, because really they are ALL the best. But this collection has all the favorites you know plus a couple you probably don't, including tracks from his latest album, Artificial Heart, and three brand new live tracks from his recent Artificial Heart tour. Which is his greatest hit? Only you can decide!

MC Frontalot
MC Frontalot, considered a godfather of nerdcore, has been delivering dope raps about nerd culture for more than a decade. He's bringing his favorite cuts to the Humble Music Bundle in Favoritism, a tightly curated set of tracks from 2005 to the present. MC Frontalot has also authored a beefy set of never-before-seen liner notes exposing the raw meat behind each of his picks for the compilation.

Hitoshi Sakimoto
Rediscover your memories from the acclaimed Valkyria Chronicles series with this compilation featuring the best music from all 3 games. From composer Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy XII, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics), experience the orchestrated melodies of the main themes, the adrenaline-pumping battle pieces and reminisce on the adventures from all the characters in Gallia."

I wish they could have gotten bigger names. :(

They are big names in the geek world. Jonathan Coulton did Still Alive. How long did people go on about that? Still do?

MC Frontalot made Nerdcore big.

And if you don't like FF music, well you have no taste :)

The only name I didn't know is Christopher Tin.

The other names are pretty damned awesome. I don't know what y'all are whining about.

They Might be Giants had some good songs I believe. Taste is subjective though. I support the EFF without any needed encouragement. ;)

I just think that if they had bigger names that appealed to massive audiences they would have a bigger lump sum coming in. Like say U2, Depeche Mode, and The Beatles. Final Fantasy music is fine if you are into video game scores(and I am not talking about banging fat chicks). Don't we need to appeal to more than nerds for the hope of helping charity?

My point was: When looking at it don't think of you, think of all of them(both those giving and those it helps) and how you can motivate the masses to give. That is what charity is all about.

If they had bigger names, everyone would already own the music. Also it's a bit delusional to think the rights owners to bands as big as U2 and The Beatles (really?) would go for this.

I got mine.

Dang, the server hosting this is nice and fast. I was averaging ~1.5mb / download on all 6 albums at once.

The non-tech individuals(perhaps you don't meet them on the internet) often repurchase music they previously owned on earlier formats. U2 is actually known to get involved with many charities so that statement is "delusional"? I was simply hoping for another approach. No need to insult. Have some class man.

Purchased. Listening to Christopher Tin. Happy so far!

Take a chance, folks! You might like some of this.

:)

Well sure, in the context of the game. I don't want to just listen to it by itself, though. That's just nerd creepy.

Not sure why. Concerts sell for like $160 a ticket and sell out fast. You wouldn't even know it was a concert for video game music, looks so classy. My wife wants me to take her one day.

I got the bundle and very happy with it so far.

That's pretty sweet. I think I'll get this when I get home.

Eh.. was on the fence but figured why not?

I need some good music to listen to on my phone while at work.

Christopher Tin did Baba Yetu, the theme from Civ IV. Also the only video game theme to win a grammy.

As an update, I'm really enjoying this stuff. Didn't think I would but I was binging for some new music and this has definitely curbed it for awhile.
