I have a G75V in my sig max supported ram is 32gb (4x8dimms).

Now the laptop came with WIn 7 Home Premium, with the limit of 16gbs of ram.

I also have a B43J which came with Win 7 Professional. I no longer use that laptop, would it be possible to download a copy of Win 7 Pro and install that on my G75V and use the COA from the other Asus laptop, assuming I no longer use that Asus laptop (the b43j).

If this isn't possible not a big deal i'll just suck it up and buy another copy of windows, thanks in advance.

Legally no you can not use the COA from one machine to another. According to Microsoft you more or less take the License and bolt it onto that laptop and it travels with that laptop and can not be moved from that laptop to another computer.

It is rather annoying but that is how OEM versions are governed.

Buying the OS flat out (no upgrade versions) let you move them from machine to machine though.

Upgrades are bolted on to the machine just like the OEM version, unless you upgrade a full blown, non-OEM version, then it is restricted to just when you install that non-OEM OS.

Does that make sense?

I'm not a huge win8 fan, but it's coming -- might be cheaper to run the release preview now, and then upgrade for $40 when it goes gold.
