This should be fun to play with. I just installed it in my rack tonight. 80 cores and 320GB of memory.

dear god,

today I got so many cores and memory I'm going to need your help to come up with home uses for it.

-OP

(kidding. very impressive!!!)

I'd settle for one or two.

I wish I could find some heavy iron cheap

Op, I bet that thing makes heat and uses tons of power ?

Bet it cost you a pretty penny too..

So uh, what exactly does one do with a small HPC cluster at home? Become the Ultimate Folding Champion?

It was a company related buy, I hope. Please say that no normal person can afford such a monster.

That is LGA 771 or socket F era... Unfortunately not the best for folding no...
doubtful would get him in the top 20...
I think first place has 192 cores in 4 boxes.

I do however envy a dedicated rack to play in...

My manager likes to keep us in the toys. It's cheaper than sending us to $7000 week long courses (though we get 4-6 of them a year). We get all kinds of play time with this stuff when it's sitting at home next to you.

I also brought home a Dell R910. I'll have to get a picture of my rack....my primary rack :)

Oh yes those are nice, just passed my exam for that unit..

Nice rig! Is this processor blade? Do you mind to show more photo and share something about how to setup this?
