How much have you made in the Diablo 3 real money auction house? (RMAH)

1)Have you guys sold anything yet? What has been your experience with the RMAH?

You can make good money if you know what to look for and put in the time. I've only sold one $250 item, a $200 item, and just a few items over $100. The majority of what I sell lies in the $5-$50 range, but I sell a bunch of it, usually undercutting just to get it out quick. Unfortunately, I'm making less and less each day as items go down in value.

I don't own D3 but it does make me wonder whether the people who make the most money are the ones who resell items rather than get the drops. I know that I would get into resale (if that is supported) rather than burn my time trying to farm something.

I can't see why not, many people merchant (including myself) like crazy in MMO's. Of course, it would be a lot riskier and more volatile currently... good gains to be made but you'd need to limit your risk factor more than you would with just in-game gold in an MMO.

More like #firstworldCHILDRENproblems .

Are you seriously telling me someone is buying something in game for $200 real money for a game that cost them $60 to play?

Yes. I have a friend who has made over $150 on the RMAH.

So I can see someone spending $200 on an item.

Sold a Natalya's Shadow (Demon Hunter set cloak) for $26.

u can make real money in this game? what is this? Poker online? fuck that shit

I look at it this way.

If im farming gear in Inferno etc etc, and it can sell in the RMAH.....why not sell to the suckers who are willing to pay for it?

You never know if a $200 weapon drops in the game.....so its like chance.

Will I ever buy an item with real money? O fuck no thats the most insane thing if you ask me.

But I am more then willing to take some suckers money if they are willing to buy Pixel items!

50 bucks, just 10 more and I can buy star craft 2 and not feel bad about giving up on d3

I've only got like 12.50...

I have friends who are still hardcore into this game, so hopefully i can end up getting around 60 by the time the expansion comes out

$492.55 USD Paypal, 18 items sold

did not nuke my main char's gear and haven't been flipping undervalued items on to RMAH

sold a 1H Xbow for $250 when RMAH was first released. rest of the stuff has been < $100

I still have some stuff that might sell for > $50 RMAH, but I prefer to keep them right now and don't care if they devalue over time

RMAH is the worst idea ever. Not that i think the concept itself is bad (they wouldn't have done it had the CGF not done it first and proven that there was money to be made), but how it's been implemented.

I would not be surprised to see (if anyone bothered to compile the data) on how many rares/epics/whatevers drop that the class they drop for can use. In my rather limited exposure to the game, it seemed that any really good item was something that my class could not use. And that was ever epic drop that i managed to score.

Seems to me that maybe Blizzard has tweaked the drop system such that you HAVE to seem the good stuff, as your toon cannot use it anyway. Thus fueling the money machine that the RMAH is. The more people sell, the more money Blizzard makes. So it is definitely in their best interest to have people selling massive amounts of stuff.

it's RnG

there are 5 classes in the game and they can gear out differently, so you're a lot more likely to find stuff useful to someone than something specifically for your class, spec, and play style

$20 so far lol... It's a lot harder than it looks to make money if you don't sit on the AH/RMAH all day trying to find deals to resell...

I just wish I was able to find any upgrades for 20m or less without spending cash :(

Well I got about a month and a half out of this game. I'm about to sell all my non-equipped stuff on the RMAH and call it a day. Back to SC2 for me, a game that actually requires skill.

Indeed. I want the other three chapters of SC2. I only play single player, and the single player campaign is just that fun to play that i replay it probably every month or so. Can't wait for the protoss and zerg campaigns! :)

I would rather pose the question.....

Who has actually paid money for an item?

Whatever, I'll step up to the plate. I spent $20 on a total of 3 items. Made $5.50 back on one of the items I replaced. After buying those though, I doubt I'll buy items again, unless I see something severely underpriced that I'd just throw back up anyway.

On that note - anyone know of/think there are bots trolling the AH (either RM or G) for specific stats and prices, buying them up and reposting at higher prices?

there are bots like that

Blizzard has started banning them

I figured there must be. I know that in general there are enough stupid people/people that don't care that would post up gear that is way undervalued, but I can't find anything anymore.

I've bought a couple, but just to resell them. Not sure if that really counts.

A bunch of them were banned yesterday (or was it two days ago?). There was a post on reddit about it.

Yea it's really weird how the market has settled. Either everyone is researching every item before the post it (highly unlikely), or there are a lot of people (or bots) just playing the AH.

Pretty annoying. I've been hoping to find a new weapon for weeks, yet never find anything because all weapons just follow the same trends.

1h with 0 stats under 750k gold = less than 940 dps

Add a filter, subtract 50 or so dps.
Add another filter, subtract another 50 or so dps.

Just stupid trying to find deals anymore--there aren't any.

Another interesting calculation is to take the total money you have made from playing the game, divide by the number of hours you have played, and see how far below minimum wage you are actually making.

Not defending it, but, what exactly are they banning them for? Buying and selling stuff for profit in a way they don't like? Theres bots used heavily on the stock market! :p

Doesn't matter what the stock market does, that's irrelevant. In the game, they are automating the buying and reselling of items. I'm sure the constant querying of the server in an effort to snipe good items at low prices is annoying too.

So can someone explain something to me about the RMAH. I thought you could use the money you buy for whatever you want, but I was told you only use the money you get from selling on the RMAH and you don't actually get it for real life use.

There's 2 different methods of selling in the RMAH. The first one, which is the default is Battle.Net Balance, which means when you sell an item you get it as credit to your battle.net account balance. This can only be used for Blizzard related things. The other method, which you have to select when selling an item is PayPal. When you sell an item here the money goes into your PayPal account. Ofcourse theres fees and such, but the money is still legit

I'm surprised by the answers here, I sold $730 worth and I'm not any kind of special player. Sold two items for $250 each that I knew were good but were really hard to figure out the value of, so I just threw them up on RMAH for max and they sold. Another one for $200 that I picked up on gold AH a few weeks prior for just a few million gold, it was a really good item that was modestly priced because it had no IAS on it. Then Blizzard nerfed IAS into the ground and suddenly the item became quite good. Then I sold a handful for $5 that wouldn't get a thousand gold on gold AH. Instead of salvaging I tossed them on RMAH and someone bought them. I've totally stopped doing that recently though because it seems like too much effort for $5 here and there to list and then relist that crap.

Just out of curiosity, are those "end game" items you guys are selling, or also lower level stuff?

Not bad man, grats on the extra cash. Maybe buy a thing or two in the RMAH to keep the flow of cash goin. :p

That sounds like quite a good idea. Right now I have zero listings because I've just been waiting for something worthwhile to put up. It can't hurt to put a bunch of cheap junk up and hope it will sell since there's no deposit fee.

This big claims need proof or I tend not to believe them.. Post a safe picture of your papal account, otherwise it didn't happen.

Lol, they aren't that big, and no one is going to post a pic of text that could have been made in photoshop in 2 minutes and you would claim was, anyway. Besides, no one has anything to prove to you, they know what they themselves got.

Wow, i thought i was on the low end, seeing as some people i know have made well over $1k. I'm just under $500 and i'm a very casual player.

Since my initial post I've not sold anything else and I've listed stuff nonstop. What's selling?
