Lava Hot: 512GB Crucial M4 - $345 @ The Egg

If these get down to $200 anytime soon, I will fricken jump. Maybe I'll buy 2 and put it in my laptop!

Hmm, I thought maybe he mistyped 256gb twice or something like that.

Can anyone suggest a good USB3 enclosure for this SSD?
I found a bunch of USB3 enclosures but only few of them have SATA III interace.

^ Sounds like a waste of a good ssd just to make it into an external. If you are going to do that, I will trade you my 600gb raptor + cash for a 512gb m4. Let me know if your interested.

Agree, but I intend to use the SSD with a Macbook Air with a small internal SSD that cannot be swapped out. I think an external SSD on USB3 is the second best thing I can have (the best thing is SSD on Thunderbolt), given that an external SSD on USB 3 is still faster than an external hard drive on USB3.

I am waiting for BF but if this is a sign of things to come it is going to be a great year for SSDs.

Or perhaps, neither of us are right . Maybe, like the bible, it is open to interpretation.... and until He the mighty poster clarifies, we shall not know. :p

I paid $300 for a 160GB drive just over a year ago.

I paid $450 for a 256gb drive at the end of Aug 2009.... back when they went for $750-800 regularly. It's still in-use today and had a 5-year warranty though :D.

10% off neweggbusiness only takes off only $0.32 for some buggy reason. Besides, it would only really save me 2% had it be working properly since the other 8% would cover taxes. I'll wait til these get to $300 < but $319... I would have jumped on it.

Awesome price on these drives. 512GB is a bit more than I'd use on my main drive but the price is very nice. I think I bought a 256GB around Christmas for this price!!!

Nothing wrong w/that logic imo... As far as the enclosure, you probably wanna look a bit into the controller being used more than anything.

SSD are just dropping ever since the Floods, they are being mass produced more so now, you got more companies making them, this was bound to happen, but i would say just happened allot sooner that we had thought.. prices have dropped about %49 in a year on SSD's.

More companies making them is relative... All flash is still coming from the same three or four sources (Samsung, IMFT, Hynix and uhh?). Flash definitely gets cheaper as demand rises; up to a point I imagine, but we're not there yet since it's still early days for SSD. They're probably trying to clear out older flash as 20nm production ramps up too, I don't think there's very many drives using 20nm NAND yet but we'll probably start seeing more soon (and Micron/Crucial has been manufacturing 20nm NAND for a few months now).

you can get this for$305.99 at neweggbusiness right now
just use coupon MEMKENTRY10

Oh man... I could not pass up $305.99.... In for one..... I hate myself.....

Damn Cali tax, always killing a good deal. Definitely would have jumped on this for $ 305 GRRRRRRRRRR

Hmm. $100 more off and I'll get one. Replace my current SSD+HDD for good.

I still can't help but wonder how much longer they're going to sit on the 1-2TB SSDs that perform 2x as fast.
You just know they exist, but they're making so much money on these 256-512GB drives that they figure we'll eat them up and in 2 more years they're finally release the 1TB versions for $400 and we will jump in line.

Prices are dropping too fast. I'm holding out for the 512GB to hit <$200.

Ya I think they raised the price, it looks like it was a mistake and they did not realize they had a 10% coupon that was going to stack. I got one for 306 so lets see if they honor it. Typically newegg does.

Are you guys just using your SSN to sign up for a Newegg Business account? The TOS says they reserve the right to cancel accounts that aren't legit/valid but I know non business owners have signed up for the deals.

Can't wait for sub-$200 512GB SSDs and larger. Once that happens it will be bu-bye to magnetic storage for me FOREVER!

I would love to get this along with a pcie drive.
pcie drive will be for boot/OS
512gb m4 would be for steam folder!

Have my tracking number... $306.. great price for a decent SSD drive...

How did you get it for $306? That's freaking awesome! I know one site had it for $319 at one point.
